Drill the plasma barrel, and great work on everything else! I've no idea why GW sculptors give the majority of their women large breasts, so I wish you luck on reducing those augments! The sword belt looks awesome, definitely worth the hours. 5 minutes wouldn't have looked as good, you know it!

Have to reiterate the effort of that sword belt being totally worth it. Looks sick.

Also that Wretch Sons marine is looking very, very good. Definitely in proportion and looking brutal.

I don't know about drilling the plasma barrel. Then again the larger plasma weapons have the muzzle(?) end open.

- Not only GW sculptors, almost all mini sculptors endow they're female creations with porn star bosoms!
- I've decided not to reduce her bust so to speak, but instead to cover them with more lapel - that and add some detail to the waist-coat section to bulk it out a little more, reduce the thrust of her magnificence!

- Having just glued both arms into place and securing that fethin sword to the cloak, ahnd and belt, I can now relax and look at it and say it was worth the effort... now, onto the sculpting!

Concerning Hatchet the 2nd Wretched Son - plasma pistol drilled!

Thanks again for your comments, gents!

GS on the shoulders still wet with Vaso, looks terrible in this close, but sanding cures many sculpting evils!!!

The tops of the shoulders will mostly be covered by the wide lapels, but it's all good sculpting practice - had to add the extra bit to the back of the upper arm to match the two sleeves up a bit more.
Thinking of adding a belt to the back of the coat, to break it up a little - also going to smear a thin 'sheet' of GS on the back to sculpt some fabric folds for shadows and highlights
The Hand Cannon has to stay separated to both sculpt and paint the coat lapels.
Rest of the GS went into straps on the back of the Assassin's legs for her armour plates, and into a secret project I'll reveal after Kallatar is done (ooooo...)

No pics of the front of Kallatar - for some reason the iPhone kept focusing only her chest...

Always nice to see other people needing to sand their work after sculpting. Sometimes I seems like people can sculpt perfect shapes in one go.

Good work. Very nice. Look forward to seeing more.

- I used to wonder the same! But once I switched from plain GS to GS/milliput and discovered sanding (micro-sanding!!!) my end results improved out of sight... and I spend less time trying to super smooth everything when I know I can sand it!

Sneak peak of a new Wretched creature!

Interested to see what kind of beastie you've got planned for those Plague Drone legs. I'm planning to use that kit for something monstrous in the near future so will be keeping a close eye to see if I can steal anything!

When you sand your sculpting work I assume you just use very, very, very fine sand paper? I can't remember how they are graded.

MoD - the beastie grows, but I'm keeping it under wraps for now, as I want to get Kallatar done.
- I think my sandpaper is 400 grain - it's pretty aggressive when you start but the GS/milliput dust clogs the paper fast, so it's becomes more like 600 grain
- I don't really want a really smooth surface, I prefer some 'tooth' to it, so the primer and subsequent layers stick well.

Well, Kallatar's coat lapels are sculpted, dried, cut to size and sanded - here she is holding the MASSIVE HandCannon...

It's probably just lens parallax, but I think the skull pommel on her gun is just too big, so some more work is required in the HandCannon.

- Still yet to finish the collar (behind the neck), and there's still a lot of finishing detail to do, but I think she's heading in the right direction.

And here's the pistol for the new femme fatale previewed in my last post - she's a Rogue Trader, a pirate and smuggler, more of an NPC rather than a retinue member:

I wanted to create a weapon loosely-based on this description from Perdido Street Station of the weapon owned by Shadrach the mercenary:
“The pistol was carved into an intricate shape, a monstrous horned face, its mouth the muzzle. It would vomit forth the bullets.”
It was also described as a 'thaumaturgic pistol, a puissant piece' by his comrade Tansell
(Excerpt From: China Miéville. “Perdido Street Station.” ... and if you haven't read it, you should - right now!)

Obviously this version is just a skull, but anything else was just too big... and when I test fit to the front to 'spew forth the bullets' (so to speak) it was far to front heavy
It's is probably ridiculously large compared the model, but then it's no longer (though chunkier) than the standard Empire pistol that was it's donor model...

Cheers man. I think i'll look into getting some before finishing off my Hrud and continuing on.

Those guns are fantastic. I really like it being oversized. I get the impression she'd have to use both hands to use it, hence why the sword is sheathed. If you are set on reducing it I imagine only the skull would need to come off.

Looking forward to the new gun and the character that goes with it. Are you going to add a small set of horns to the side of the skull?

MoD Thanks!

About those horns - yes I was, but now, no I'm not... reason is, I destroyed the whole thing trying to remove the skull to bring it back over her hand, because it was looking really unbalanced once I attached it to the pirate's arm
Therefore, I'm waiting on a replacement DE hand and gun to arrive, before I start again...

So meanwhile, I thought Kallatar's gun - while pretty good - could possibly be improved, so did an addition:

Because I'm not sure on it, the GS was fast and rough, so I could get it out there and see what it looked like.
Don't worry - it's only tacked in so I can revert to the original version pretty fast.
Here it is on her shoulder:

So what's the verdict?
Does it look like a baroque, steampunk weapon, or like a dead lizard?

Can I ask what you have used in the parts pic for the Femme fatale as to torsos and legs

Well I'm late for the vote, but I will say that the lizard version didn't really say "steampunk" to me.

I can't really think of how you could make that more steampunk. I want to say that it should be more "elegant" but that doesn't really help much.

Look forward to what you end up with in any case.

Just take of the lizard head or move it onto the actual barrels certainly keep the new handle its an improvement under the barrel the head is just to bulky and overbalances it.

LDD - Thanks for the input!
- That body is the Dark Elf Scourgerunner female crew member - unfortunately, I appear to have lost her head...and her arms are terrible, thus replacements required

Dr H - Thanks, and even late your input is always welcome!

Llamahead - Thanks!

Well, the Dead Lizard was a dead waste of time - trying to remove the head resulted in almost complete destruction of the HandCannon, including redoing the wheel-cogs, thus three nights of tinkering resulted in going backwards not forwards!

Spent the better part of this afternoon reconstructing the original HandCannon around the damaged hand/gun bit.
Slight change from the first version is I used the skull pommel of a GK Terminator sword to finally get a skull on the handle of her gun that is sized correctly.

Since we're all probably sick of looking at it, here's one quick shot of it completed, and I promise next update I'll have moved beyond this point!

As always, thanks for looking!

Thanks guys!

Having to rebuild the HandCannon set me off on another weapon re-build for the Rogue Trader - she had the skull-gun thing, but the skull was proving too big, so a new Dark Eldar hand and splinter pistol and some Empire pistol bits became this (pics are a bit meh, sorry, it was late):

And meanwhile, back in the Wretched Sons camp - "... Something wicked this way comes..."

Inquisitor Kallatar - hat, gun and coat (almost complete):

Still to do:
1 - Somehow sculpt a closure tab across the waistcoat
2 - ][ bling - awaiting FW delivery
3 - Purity seals
4 - Some minor detail

Questions for you, gentle-persons of the forums:
1 - Scarf - sort of wind swept out to the left?
2 - Add Hair or leave her bald?
3 - Anything not working?

Thanks for looking!

Ooo, nice hat.

I'm not sure a scarf would fit the look.
However, the right kind of hair would also do the blowing in the wind kind of thing.

I see no issues. Liking it.
