Hi Dakka,
I have a little tournament coming up and I'm trying to brush up on my rules. I know that every game, without fail I forget the order of doing things before the game starts. Things like:
1) roll for game type and deployment type
2) roll for sides and objectives
3) do warlord and psychic powers
4) roll for first deployment/first turn
5) finally you roll for night fight and get to deploying

So I thought I'd start a thread here for everyone to share the rules you always forget. After all, it's never bad to check up on rules, and it's handy to know the memory hiccups one is most likely to encounter.

Christ, where do you buy your turnips?

Objectives. We can say 'we won't forget to roll for the random objectives this time' as we are deploying, but I can guarantee you Turn 3 hits and all of a sudden it's 'oh yeah...oops. Oh well just leave it we'll play on'

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

and Warlord traits, but they're lousy anyway, and even if I do remember to roll them, they're either useless or I forget about them twice.

Almost everything related to morale.

- I tend to check morale for a squad inmediately after taking losses, not after the enemy shooting phase.

- I almost always forget to rally.

- I often skip pinning tests after emergency disembarkments and vehicle explosions. Thankfully, my opponents always "kindly" remind me to.

- On the contrary, I always forget that the guns on my dakkajets cause pinning. My foes never remind me of this one, though.

My biggest problem is rules that blur together from previous editions. Normally its "Oh yeah, this works this way", then someone replies with "not since 4th".

I also tend to forget my vehicles have smoke launchers.

1. not a rule
2. it's not dead, just requires more finesse and testicular fortitude to play

People need to take a pinning test when a vehicle explodes...why was I never informed of this? As a Tau player I feel cheated. I really need to buy the main rulebook and actually read it instead of just "taking my mates word for it".

This, a thousand times. Also, though I never forget it's there, I keep forgetting *exactly* how ATSKNF works - or rather, I keep getting confused by the changing goalposts around morale check criteria and when a unit can/can't regroup.
