Subject: Monofilament AP1... wounds?

Before I begin: No, I am not trying to argue whether this should apply to Armor Pen. The wording is perfectly clear its on to wound rolls only.
Now, I have to ask: What purpose does AP 1 serve on Monofilament? There are no armor saves better than 2+. So what does it affect exactly?

Right now? Nothing. A later version of the game might choose to make a distinction.
I think it might be neat for AP1 weapons to ignore FNP -- that way, AP1 weapons have an advantage even when attacking monstrous creatures. Meh.

the AP 1 is there to evade armor saves entirely. Easy enough.

Isn't this similar to saying that the "ignores cover" USR doesn't work on vehicles because it only says on a wound roll?

I think it's closer to saying "you get a 6+ save.".

There's a Tau special character has a wargear item that gives a save based on the AP of the weapon, where he can't save against an AP- wound and automatically saves against AP1 wound, so there's that.

It's also possible we may see an Errata later, adding to the pen rolls of vehicles.
As of now, it doesn't do anything more than AP2 would.

Aun'va. He'll be heartily trolling that fire dragon squad all day long.

That's what I meant. They are either very lethal (they can insta kill him, iirc) or can't hurt him

It's to future proof the Spinarette Rifle, which is AP1 naturally. It would be really weird if a 6 to wound downgraded the AP.

Yeah, you have a point there. I was wondering why an AP1 weapon would need a special effect that gives it AP1.

Now THAT makes sense. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Now this makes me wonder why the Spinneret Rifle isn't listed with the rest of the Monofilament Weapons... :/
