After running numbers in a steadfast discussion, I noticed that point for point, it is extremely hard to break night goblins with nets.
All they need is LD10 and a re-roll, and O&G have the perfect guy for that.

Gorbard Ironclaw
Orc Great shaman, level 4 on boar
Goblin Shaman, level 1, wolf, dispel scroll, Ironcurse Icon

4 units of 80 night goblins, standards, musician, nets, and 1 fanatic each
10 boar boys, shields, standard, musician, scarecrow banner (had 5 points left)
2 doom divers

Basically, lob shots and stomp on stuff, then hold for the rest of the game.
The 18" bubble of Ld10 with re-rolls should prevent the goblins from running.

I like the list as long as you keep Gorbad away from anything that can actually challenge him in combat.

I would rather drop 1 unit of goblins and increase the other 3 slightly and add a few more fanatics or even a few more warmachines with the points.

I was looking at 3 vs 4. My thinking was that you need 3 to create a pocket to hide gorbad in.
Having the 4th unit puts a unit on outside that can angle in to flank.

My biggest worry for a list like this is actually the Foot. If the boosted version goes poorly, 1 or 2 stomps on gorbads unit could be really bad.

I find that the biggest worry in a Gorbad list is generally Gorbad himself. One bad round of combat can lead to you losing your BSB and General. I think taking a couple of rock lobbas can alleviate the work of the doom divers and foot of gork, yet still keep the steadfast. And that way, Gorbad can stay a bit further back until he's needed.

When ever I have run Gorbad, the plan has always been to not go into combat. 350 points is a lot, but...
Orc General is 115, BSB is another 105 with banner of discipline. Losing both gives up 200 bonus points. So going Ld10 with normal guys, you're looking at risking 420 victory points.

Gorbad is a bit more, cost more up front, and gives up a few more points when killed, but gives you the 18" bubble, and he adds his current wounds to any failed animosity check, meaning you won't ever be smacking your own units.

If you make the normal General/BSB hitty or survivable at all, Gorbad actually works out to be cheaper.
The problem with Gorbad is all the cost is loaded into your Lord choices, which doesn't leave any gear on your wiz-lord.

Looking at the list, I'm thinking I should swap the boar boyz for wolf riders. Conventional shooting won't do much and having more bodies is most likely better.

Just want to make sure you can kill off any big spells.
Unitwide S/T/I tests really will cause alot of damage.

Playing against an army like this is one of the only reasons i'd run lord Skrolk.

Is it worth dropping a unit of gobbos and throwing in 3 units of wolf rinders?
Just min units that you can wrap around gorbad to keep anything away from him.

Also, i'd advise against more fanataics.
You have 4 large units and i really dont see the fanatics missing them all that often.

Swapping the boar boyz out gives you even less hitting power, though. Besides the doom divers and magic, what kills stuff in this list?

Seems like a good "play to a draw" list, and one that will avoid losses, but not one that's going to be very viable in a tournament where VPs count since it can't kill much at all.

I think, the best way to use gorbad, is as described. Not a combat character. I'd stick him in a unit of minimal wolf riders to hide at the back of the board, and try and squeeze in a rock lobba and trolls. The rock lobba to deal with massed infantry, and the trolls for hitting power.

It's got to be bigger than minimum. First cannon kills a wolf rider, 2nd cannon kills Gorbad.

Fair enough. A unit of 10.

The other thought is, are nets better than having another 15 night goblins?

Better than a separate unit? Yes.

Better than more ranks? More than likely.
