Hi guys !

This is my first try with an airbrush (black undercoating and Chain Mail first layer), then I finished with a brush with Mithril Silver and the different colors, including highlighting and washes

This is, for me , a good tabletop standard

Nice and clean, well done attention to detail. I like it!

Only thing I would do is add some detail like black on the power cables and maybe silver or other colors on the hammer mechanics... oh and micropen the purity seals with some writing.

I think your "good tabletop standard" is fantastic and quite similar to my own

Looks great! good smooth colors!

I would also suggest adding some stuff to some of the smaller details i.e. the wiring and mechanisms on the thunderhammer, and all of that.

Looks great! keep it up!

I use a brush with a good, sharp point and a black-brown paint (VMC German Camo Black Brown [M150] or just mix a dark brown GW paint with black at a 1:1 ratio).

The model looks okay; you missed a lot of details on the right pauldron (the heraldry shield and name banner) and some other tiny details (the power cables and crux on the right leg to spot a few) and I would add some variation to the daemon hammer as well. All and all, but a bad attempt. You are definitely on the right track!

Since you have an airbrush, I would check out this tutorial, right here on Dakka. It's pretty good and gives excellent results.

Looks really good. For extra tips, this is a really great tutorial on painting grey knights using zenithal highlighting with an airbrush.

I use a micropen (might actually be called something else ). One of those felt tip pens with the super fine tip.

Yeap, more details to finish ! I am gonna check your tutorials. Airbrush is very cool, but I only have 0.3mm nozzle, and I am afraid it may be a bit to "big" for small details

What do you use for the heraldy ? do you draw skulls, swords and others symbols with a brush, or do you use transfers from some SM or others armies ?

The tutorial is quite impressive, but the GW metallic paints are not easy to use with airbrush. I will try with the Vallejo one. My next stage would be to do Power weapons with reflects, as on the tutorial.

That is at least a hundred times better than my first attempt with an airbrush.. I literally tried to hit the side of a barn door with mine and missed..

If I had only one piece of advice when it comes to airbrushing, it would be to use the Vallejo Model Air range. It just made a world of difference to my experience. Saved sooo much time, effort and frustration with consistencies. Plus, they brush on lovely too.

I am looking for the vallejo airbursh paint. do you need to dilute them as much as the GW paints ?

There are plenty of ways to paint Grey Knight heraldry; since each marine has his own individual design, the possibilities are endless. Here are some examples I found:
Spoiler:

Of course they don't have to be that elaborate, I usually just use a combination of red and white, like this:
Spoiler:

Failing that, you can use the actual rules of heraldry to come up with your own. A good place to start is with reading up on divisions of the field and using some of the examples there.

The tutorial is quite impressive, but the GW metallic paints are not easy to use with airbrush. I will try with the Vallejo one. My next stage would be to do Power weapons with reflects, as on the tutorial.

If thinned correctly, GW metallic paint works just fine in an airbrush, especially with a .3mm needle. I have also used P3 metallic paint in mine with a .2mm needle and had no problems. You just have to make sure that is nice and thin. As far as painting the force weapons, this video should help you a lot.

I am looking for the vallejo airbursh paint. do you need to dilute them as much as the GW paints ?

Yes and no. Some people use VMA paint straight from the bottle, but I am not one of them. I would recommend thinning, especially if using a very small needle and lower pressure (generally under 15 psi). They might not need as much thinner as a GW paint, but like with all paints, each individual one is going to be different and there is no magic ration that works with every paint in the line.

As scooty says, you can thin them and some do, but I've always found that any I've used have been great straight out the bottle. I should say though, that I've never used he metallics. But I have heard good things about them.

Definitely, either those or Tamiya colour acrylics with the same brand thinners - I've found the GW paints dry far too quickly to be of use when airbrushing.
