Hi guys,

Just looking to see how big 40k armies other people have collected. I have roughly a 10,000pt space wolf army that I have collected since my teens.

Rough guide I have:

All the special characters from Leman russ to lukas the trickster
9 dreadnoughts
4 land raiders
4 rhinos / razor backs
1 vindicator
1 Leman russ exterminator
4 land speeders
About 100 terminators
200 grey hunters / blood claws
25 scouts
20 sky claws / jump pack marines
25 long fangs / devastators
4 techmarine / iron priest
3 wolf priests
Full set of adeptus mechanicus from the 80's
I'm sure there's more in boxes etc stashed away but that will be most of it.

I have also started added some praetorians to add some ally troops. Got 30 so far.

I have a single Farseer.

With a small bodyguard of around 100 advanced eldar aspect warriors, plus tanks and war machines to boot.

No biggie.

Thanks for the constructive reply phatonic. I'm sure your a fun person to be around. All I was looking for is to see how big other people's armies were to ideally find an opponent to fight with all my models rather than just a part of it.

I didn't get a boasting vibe from his post at all. He asked question to see who had a large army and then got the conversation started by posting his info.

He is asking you to talk about your army....who doesn't like to talk about their 40k army? and of all the places, this is the forum where you come to talk about your 40k army.

I wish I had a huge army, but I only have 44 boyz, 3 nobs, 6 warbikers, 2 looted wagons, 5 lootas and a deff dread.

oh and now I have 20 Black Templar marines, and an EC!

You won't get the points, because im too lazy to sit with a calculator. I can remember my tanks named and their general modifications (I mod and convert.... everything, besides the basic troopers)
You can find most if not all in my blog if you actually want to see them.

Vanquisher: Dead Eye (Flak 88 turret), Longsword (Aircraft dozer blade and oversized hunter killer), The Hammer (Super Cannon and auto loader)

Battle Tank: Foe Hammer (excesive weapons), The Reaper (4 legged salvaged tank), the Banshee ( Rocket Tank), The Vangaurd (Total scratch build, with mechanical sense in mind)

Demolisher: The Shatterer (Sonic Cannon), Burning Vengance (Rhino- Russ)

Exterminator: Steel Fury (Hover tank)

Executioner: Electrocutioner (Telsa Tank), Solar Infernus (Extensive cooling system)

Eradicator: Thunder Guns (additional armor plates and multilaser bolted to turret), Solar Flare (gun in the extended turret)

Punisher: The Paladin (Laser beam Tank)

Hell Hounds: Blazer Runner (Commander out of hatch with flamer), Seething Hatred (Converted from Chimera + extra fuel tanks)

Banewolf: Biohazerd (German Light tank with chem equipment), Toxin Tractor (Wee tractor with sprayer and paint pot tank)

Chimera: Marines Dept (Razorback turned Chimera), Chef's Special (built from many different parts, Truck-like Chimera)

Manticore: Apollos Fist (Plasma Flare projector/ different chassis)

Deathstrike: Final Word (MIssile has extra large fins)

Gryphon: Recently finished, not painted or named yet. uses Rockets instead of mortar shells.

Medusa: Sturm Natter (Modified Chimera)

Basilisks: Skull Shatter (few additional armor plates), Micro Basilisk (physically smaller tank with supports to increase width), Hand of Redepmtion (Scratch Built)

Venddettas: Tornado (Helicotper), Sky Hammer (Additional Weapons/Repaired landing gear)

Malcador: "Old Ork Crusha'" (M3 Lee convert, Annialator), Citadel of Vengence (Defender, converted Panzer 4 hull), The Pyro (Infernus, painted after the RED Pyro from team fortress 2)

Macharius: Dreadsaber (M60 tank with additional weapons and super structure+ turret, Vanquisher), War Wasp (Sherdinan with Stand Off armor, Vulcan), Krieg Tiger (Tiger tank with duel cannon, Battle tank)

Baneblades: Thunderfury (extensive additional weapons and front sponsons, Baneblade), Koloss (E-100 German Super Heavy Tank, Baneblade), KreigsGott (Maus German Super Heavy tank, Baneblade)
Ashbringer (forward casemate Shadowsword), The Engine of War (T95 GMC design, with baneblade hull, Shadowsword), Magnus Terra Elementum (Banehammer with Maus Hull and energy device), Time Lord (Challenger 1 with energy weapon, Stormblade)

Minotaur: The Guardian (T34/85 hull with upper super structure and cannons, has sustained major damaged and needs rebuild.)

Super Weapon: The Harbinger of Conquest, 280mm American Atomic Cannon refitted for service including additional armor and weapons.

Atlas Recovery Vehicle: Draggin Wagon (Ork Battlewagon given a trailer and operated by Guardsmen)

Laser Destoyer Tank hunter: "Bad Kitty" (Older edition model, i can't tell what edition), "The Surgeon" (Stugg 3 tank destoyer, can't find him but i know he's around)

Hydras: Aircleaner (Chimera with quad AA shoved into the turret+ guardsmen operator), Whirlwind (Basilisk hull given a Flak Panzer quad AA turret), Shredder (Chimera with gatling AA turret on rear)

Stormtalon: Blitz Eagle (F9F- Panther Jet)

Vindicator: Vindy (cause he's cute, its a little 2nd edition vindy)

Landraider: The Invader (modified Panther tank)

4 Sentinals 3 standards armored design, with 1 being a Uni wheel machine named the Death Wheel

2 squads of "Space Marines"
1.3 squads of Terminators,
1 Captain (Still needs squad built)

and numerous Imperial guardsmen..... (estimate 6-7 squads, 3 potential command squads, lost count of HWT, and 1 squad of rough riders)

recent purchase includes 1 Extermiantor, and 4 LRBT , but they have not been modified and integrated into my army, traded a box full of chaos bits I had to gain these. so essentially free stuff!

Why a big army? I like building... Designing, building and painting the tanks are fun to me. plus I convert or build whenever I can so I save money. the troops im kinda "meh" in term of building them since its hard to customize them. My brand of "Space marines" is an attempt at customizing troops, giving guardsmen a exoskeleton style suit. but otherwise, love building tanks and such.

That and its all Imperial guard.... I think having large quantity's is a standard thing...

I've been collecting since about '86, the stuff sort of piles up...

I would like to expand my Silver Skulls to one full company, and about 20-30 terminators.

I have two aditional SM armies from BA and DA dexs that will be about 1500 pts each. When done.

My Tau are probably about 3k points but they remain boxed up for now.

One of the guys I've played with over the years has about 12,000 points of Nids, 6,000 of Necrons, 4,000 of Daemons, and 6,000 of Eldar. I have a rough idea of what he has for Nids, since i play against them most of the time in our apoc games:
150 genestealers (and 40 ymgarls)
200 terms
110 horms
25 warriors
9 zoenthropes (and a doom)
12 carnifexes
4 tervagons/tyranofexs (magnetized for switch)
3 tyrgons/malocks
6 biovores
9 hive guard
4 hive tyrants (2 flying)
Swarmlord
6 tyrant guard
6 lictors
a custom Harpy
and a bunch of random swarms

Unfortunately, most aren't painted, but it's still pretty impressive. I'll try to get a picture of them this weekend because we are playing in a doubles tourney.

P.S he's planning on adding 3 barbed hierodules and at least 1 biotitan by the end of the year.

Necrons - 3000 pts
HH Imperial Militia/Cults - 1000 points Check out my P&M blog! (https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/805464.page)

I started into 40k a little over 6 monthes ago, and have a little over 10,000 points of DAs assembled and primed, with a few squads of tacs, bikes and terminators actually painted. The latest additions are a Storm Eagle and Achilles.

I'm under orders to slow down my rate of acquisition until I get more painted. Can't understand why.

I have too damn many Orks I think i may have an orking problem

Counting Apoc units etc it was past 81,000 pts last time i took a census. Some of that is in storage though (RT//2nd ed models mostly).

Pics in my gallery. This is about half of the ones i have at home, taken about a year ago.

I despair at getting them all painted though

My DE and Nurgle Daemons armies are far more modest.

I can play my IG at over 13,000 points without adding in formation costs, so call in 14k for apoc, with everything built into formations.

And that's without unnecessary upgrades, although it does include things like three priests and multiple heavy bolter and missile launcher heavy weapon squads.

Pic of the infantry at least:

While normally not a fan of hobby snobbery, I'm not interested in how big somebody's unpainted army is. It's not that hard to accumulate 10,000 points of unpainted stuff for an army. Painting it to tabletop standard shows dedication.

Not sure if this is ment as a joke or not. Not sure what you mean. We are putting standards on other people now? If it's not painted, who cares. A lot of people don't like to paint. If it's assembled, then I believe it should count. Yes being painted is nice, BUT we shouldn't be saying how other people should be doing the hobby.

As for me, I don't know what I got. I don't count mine, since alot of it is unassembled. Just don't have the time, and basically stopped because I don't feel like painting at the moment.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Nobody is telling people how to enjoy the hobby. I dont' care how you have fun.

But I refuse to be impressed because somebody has built a bunch of models. I love big armies, but not because I think it's neat that somebody spent a bunch of money and a long weekend building stuff. I like large, painted armies that look closer to actual battle formations than what you see in tournaments.

I agree with scott on this one.
Fully painted make it an army.

Anyone can buy and assemble a huge army, but putting in the time and effort to actually assemble it means something.

Also, people need to post pics of some of these, just seeing some of them is amazing, more so the 81k ork army
