Interesting question. I did a couple of searches, and found a short lived thread here and there on the topic, but nothing extensive, and nothing with numbers attached. So, what is, in your opinion, the 'best' psychic discipline? Let us assume, for the moment, that you have access to any of them that you want. We are ONLY discussing the BRB disciplines here by the way, not Codex specific ones. I deliberately left out an 'other' option to avoid the inevitable clown who would fail to read the original question just so they could post 'Eldarlolz!'

Well, I'd opt for biomancy due to their boost of Nids and Nurgle with divination second.

I'm partial to Divination myself. I just can't shake the thought that all those rolls/re-rolls are going to do you more good over the course of the game than any of the shiny powers you pick up from other disciplines.

Divination is just an auto pick. The unbalanced thing is that I find the primaris power to be the best of the bunch, so there is no random about it.

Some armies do better with biomancy, other armies do better with divinitation. But they are far and away the best tables.

Word.
Which discipline is best depends on the Psyker, the Army and the List.
For nids, its almost almost Biomancy, with occasional Telepathy for the Zoans.

I agree with the support benefit coming out of Divination. Has anyone ever actually used Pyromancy? I keep thinking I should just for fun, but then it would be such a waste of a power, when you could just buy another guy to do broadly the same thing as the pyro powers

I'll often grab Telekinesis as a third power on a tervigon f I already have Endurance and/or Iron Arm. If I pick up either GoI or TD its great.
Divination is the best though.

You cant mix and match Codex powers and Rulebook powers on one model.

The real weakness of the pyro tree is the wide variety of situational spells. If you have a good CC psyker that has no Invuln (Yeah, who would that be, I know. Let's be hypothetical though) then Fiery Form would be awesome on him. But you would not want any of the other spells. So you have to just hope to roll a 1?
In the same way Spontaneous Combustion would be a cool way to take out special weapons in big squads, but if you've made a group that has the job of taking out those things, you want to know you will get that spell.
Again, Fire Shield could be useful for a vanguard unit that rushes over open ground.
The uses are all so different, and the primaris power is a bloody flamethrower. Gee thanks, I think I can bring a flamer instead. Soul Blaze isn't worth it being the primaris.
Honestly I think Spont Combust or Fire Shield should have been Pyromancy's Primaris Power to atleast let the discipline see *some* use.

Depends....
For level 2 psykers, Telepathy wins hands down. Invisibility and Hallucination are amazing.
Divination comes in second though. Having a good primaris means it shades Biomancy into third.
Telekinesis is okay, but not great, and Pyromancy is just rubbish.

Sorry, I meant that you cant mix multiple disciplines on one model (not as far as im aware at least). I was not quite fully awake when I posted

I did it once actually, just for fun. I had two Sorcerers with Mastery Level 3 and gave them both pyro. They were fun for the random explosions, but other than that they're just meh

while I think if you just have one or two psykers, divination is probably your GO TO buff power as it is the best force multiplier.
If you are running giant MC's, biomancy is your tree of choice
If you are running multiple casters (i.e. Eldar jet seer counsel) telepathy can be pretty brutal. Between all the morale checks and the new horrify eldar power, it's got a ton of synergy. Puppet master and hallucinations are also devastating powers and have won me games by themselves practically.

If my dual-wielding Daemonblade Inquisitor becomes a psyker from his swords, I have occasionally picked up Pyromancy as his power, depending on what my other Daemonblade rolls were. For any other situation, I tend to prefer Divination. For my Space Marine (vanilla marines) librarians, I always stick with the codex powers.
