Oh my god thank you for showing me this, lol.

I'm going to buy some for my Tallarn when they launch.

I shall first purchase Cruz, that heavy gunner, paint her in Tallarn colors with black skin, and use her as Gunnery Sergeant Harker.

Lol, I'm doing the same thing with her. (In Valhallan colors, of course.) I definitely think these minis are a real nice high-quality alternative to guard. To avoid derailing this thread, though, you should check out this thread, which is all about the Raging Heroes stuff. If you've got any other ideas about RH substitutions for guard, I'd be happy to talk about them!

Old school Tallarn for me, and just added a force of redemptionist and Orlock Necromunda gangers to serve as the normal infantry to the Tallarn's vets.

Such great models, well sculpted and tons of character.

I almost did something super similar but I loved the basic Tallarn models a bit too much. I was starting to think I was alone as a Tallarn player before this.

The Restrictions I Put On My Tallarn Lists:
- Missile Launchers are the only HW teams allowed in Infantry Squads.
- All units able to take the FW Desert Raider special rule, must take it in lists of 750 points or more.
- 1 unit of 10 Rough Riders is required for lists of 1000 points or more.
- 2 units of Mukaali Rough Riders are required for lists of 1000 points or more.
- No vehicles besides Chimera Armoured Transports and Hydra Flak Tank Batteries are allowed.
- Al'Rahem is required in lists of 1000 points or more.

I voted for Death Corps of Kreig, because If I could afford the models I would love to run them.

But my actual list is going to be based off the Cadian models and I'm planing on making my own Regiment, with custom colors.

And If I bought Catachan models I would paint them in blue grey fatigues just to be different.

Catachans for the win!

Only have the old metal models. 55 catachans (CCS, 5 vets) and inquisitor style storm troopers. Harker is the only special characteri use from them. Mix of catachan, last chancers, tanith, and necro Munda (Escher). I have. Five metal ogryn ( newer sculpts), they share the paint scheme.

Vehicles. Two LR executioners and one punisher. Three scout sentinels. One vendetta. Two manticores. Chimeras of
course.

Fun to use the old catachan rules from time to time.

Catachans. The plastics look a bit goofy but with a little bit of work and some careful painting, they can look totally awesome...chock full of MANLY!

Steel Legion. Some of the best IG lore out there. If you look at the 5th edition codex timeline, there are only 4-5 major (dozens of other small events) events that are explained in detail. I believe 2-3 of them are battles on Armageddon (Don't have codex on me atm, at work). Surprised to see so many Tallarn/Catachan players. I would love to make a catachan army, but it would literally take me years to paint. I hate painting skin & catachans are like 50%+ skin. Have always liked the Tallarn models. Very well sculpted. I had also considered DKoK, but I don't care for their lore. I don't like how the soldiers don't even have names & are just assigned a number to serve as cannon fodder.

I'm building Death Korps, and I have an established Armoured Company which uses Steel Legion for general infantry, and some customized Cadians for vets. Custom fluff; the first Dawn of War game is what got me into 40k, so I consider them made from the survivors of the various Tartarus regiments, amalgamated into a single experienced force.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I kinda have a mix of guardsmen right now. After seeing how awesome highland guard (aka guys with kilts) look, even with my preschooler level of painting, I'm really tempted to go all out.

I also have a ton of Starship Trooper MI (bother power suit and light infantry) and I'm really tempted to run the light infantry as conscripts

Then you've got my platoon of Catachans and the Dreamforge Stormtroopers that I may or may not use as well, although I'm tempted to convert them into Sisters of battle (the Dreamforge minis, not the Catachans. The world is not ready for that kind of horror)

I play Cadians, Catachans, Valhallans, Vostroyan Firstborn, Steel Legion and some more random mini's all combined in one large infantry army.
Some of the Valhallans and Cadians are used for a custom force that I came up with. The rest is all according to their 'native' planet.

My goal is to try to get a couple of mini's from every established regiment.

Props! When I first started out, I tried to do that as a combined regiment force under Lord Solar Macharius, but alas the metal lines are dwindling and getting too expensive to field. I may return to that dream one day, but the troops will definitely get shuffled up even further....

I run a heavily armored division that is somewhat a combination of Death Korps of Krieg and Valhallan Ice Warriors. They are from the ice world Tuval which has a caustic atmosphere due to Dark Eldar chicanery a millenia pass. Their planet is also infested with feral Orks, and every so often the Dark Eldar show up to try and cull the populace - sometimes supported by Biel-Tan to harass the invaders on a once-Maiden World and to prevent them from raiding ancient artifacts now abandoned in the desolate ice wastes.

So far they use Cadian models, but that's because I'm focusing on building up other models since I have all their tanks and my four Vet squads rarely get out of their Chimeras. Eventually I'll buy proper Death Korps models for them, but I'm still kind of waiting out for more common plastic kits as I would like to expand it into an infantry/artillery possible list at times too. I cannot afford that many metal models and don't want to deal with them besides.

Another Tallarn player here. They're the models that got me into 40k. I still don't know what it is I like about them so much... I guess they just have loads of character!

Great to see I'm not alone with that. There's actually more people with Tallarn armies on here than I thought! Any pics chaps?

I love em all! If i had my choice I would use a mix of DKoK and Steel Legion, since i love the looks. However, I happen to own alot of random guys, including 100+Cadians, 75+ Catachans, 40+ Steel Legion, and a smattering of Mordians, Vostroyan, Valhallans, and Tallarn. Painting my tanks in the style of different regiments is actually pretty fun! Now Ive mixed them all as a combined regiment that was rolled together from the remnants of a nearly fatal campaign. I call them the "Grinders" or "the best of all thats left." As such I have my PCs and CCS made up of the Vostroyans, Tallarns, Valhallans, and Mordians. The Steel Legion are my Mech Vets, the Cadians are my bulk troops, and the Catachans are typical my MSU specialist units like Harker vets, Big blobs, and so forth. I have yet to fully assign them a number and planet, but a cool nickname is a good place to start at least Any suggestions while we're at it? I guess they would be named after the planet where the Regiment was reformed.

I forgot to add the House Escher models from Necromunda.

In my opinion, I find it one of the most entertaining ways to run an Imperial guard army.

For what it is worth, I got most of my mini's from a large bit box, at some sort of games convention where you could take out a whole bunch for a couple euro's. You could try asking around, maybe someone has some left or knows where to get them.

I have just started an army with cadian models but I would love to do a DKoK army. Money is an issue unfortunately.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
