After building and painting my Metal Gear Rex i really wanted something similar for my space wolves.

After looking throu a lot of different forums,threads, gw kits and images on google this is what i came up with:









it was a really ambitious project for me and am really happy with the result.

i will take a look at it again in a few days to see if there are things i dont like or that need to be changed.

all weapons are magnetized so i can use it as a whirlwind, cybot, predator or part of the aegis defence line( with my dreads magnetized autocannons).

legs are from the GK dreadknight and the chaos defiler.

i was thinking about arms but it looked really awfull and not as mechwarrior as i wanted to

Ah, of course, I didn't think hard enough about the legs. Some ideas sound better in theory than practice. I still really like it!

I took a look at what it would cost to buy this by bits. I came up with 25$ from ebay. The most expensive part would be the defiler legs. The cockpit from the storm talon was surprisinly cheap.

Will you actually be using this to play or is it just some thing that looks cool.

sorry but thats not working out. you just need way too many bitz from all the kits, whirlwind rocketpods,all my other weapon options and brass etch not included

I wasn't including those, allowing for a bit more customization. Honestly for just the base model though you can do it pretty cheap. But to spiffy it up like you did it would start to get more expensive.

How do you plan on using this beauty?

I'm going to have to looking into the parts as well, if its that cheap (relitaivly) then i am going to build one

because a lot of people asked here and via pm (and because id love to see more of those from different people ^_^) here some wip pictures and close ups:

first the basic leg construction.
the connection between the defiler parts and the dreadknight legs is a very weak point so i pinned them together. same with the feet and the defiler parts.



now for the hips. basically the dreadknights weapon mounts. if you look closely you can see 4 magnets that hold the cockpit. you can glue the upper and lower part together but i really wanted it to be able to turn and make soundeffects while doing so



heres the cockpit and the magnets that connect to the hip. i also used vents from a droppod here because i thought it looks good



cockpit sideview. in case the legs get destroyed it can fly away
you can see where i cut the stormtalon off



last but not least some extra sw icons and brass etch for extra sw flavor

Jesus the amount of extra work you put into this that I didn't even realize. I surely stand corrected.

This is an incredibly rad kit bash. It looks like an official release that I would totally build an army around.

That looks more like a proper kit than the Storm Talon.

Seriously cool stuff - agreed that the addition of arms would be a mistake.

Very awesome model, kudo's to you. Makes me want to go out and build one myself, just too good of a kit bash.

Sweet walker, very nice attention to the weathering: not too strong, just enough to give the model some life and character.

Here is a picture for size conparison:

If you removed the Heavy Bolters (maybe magnetize them for model purposes) you'd easily be able to use that as a Comtemptor Mortis pattern with caraspace missile launcher.

Alternatively you could remove the assault cannons and use it as a Land Speeder Typhoon with HB, or take a Dark Angels proxy allied detachment with it representing Sammael's Land Speeder Sableclaw with twinlinked heavy bolters and assault cannons.

Regardless, it looks gorgeous, and if it wasn't for the fact I'd need to get a Defiler and a Dreadknight too I'd make my own.
