At the time of Horus Heresy, are there any thunderhawk gunship? it is quite new right?
How about storm eagle?
Any aircraft that can be dated back to the era of horus heresy that the traitors had brought into the eye of terror with them when they fled.

Yes the thunderhawk at the time of the HH was a newish craft to the legions.
Most legions used the storm eagle. so it would be safe to say that they took a load of them in to the eye when they fled.
the Army units that turned as well used the avenger strike craft as well before it became a staple of the navy or SoB

But they do loot from the imperium from time to time right? explains their possession of the thunderhawk gunship?

The Thunderhawk was new but it had entered service before the Heresy broke out. Betrayal specifically notes that both sides ramped up production of them during the Heresy. Chaos does loot the Imperium, but a chaos Thunderhawk could just as easily be a relic from the Heresy/Crusade.

The fluff for the Heldrake also talks about the warping effects in the EoT as mutating the Chaos Flyers into beast, so I would assume few if any Heresy era Thunderhawks exist anymore.

You can take it for a Chaos Army List, so I believe they have some.

The Night Lords have plenty although lack the means to maintain them properly.

Consider, however, that the Chaos Space Marines are composed of some mixture of recent defectors and the original Legions. Plus the fact that there are Dark Mechanicum Forge Worlds, a Chaos Warband raiding a Forge World for STCs that they can then use to make more tanks would make for a cool story.
