One of the two strip clubs I knew about in the city I used to live in (one was on the main street going into town, the other was next to the bus station where I transited through on the way to work, never went in them) was named after the post code of the area it was in... unfortunately the post code was "ST1" which was quite unfortunate when emblazened on a big neon sign to a strip club...

Surprisingly, it's switched here in the states. When I was in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade it was STD (so like 11 to 13 yrs old), and in 10th grade (16) it was STI.

STI is the new preferred term in the US as well, it just hasn't caught on yet.

STI is more precise and descriptive of what we're talking about "Disease" is too broad and creates stigma. "Infection" is more accurate.

I think she said on her page that she only did it during the summer months, when school was out.

yea my only issue was the medical leave thing and the fact I don't remember any teacher I'd want to remotely do that. You youngins with your teachers who walk upright all the time and all that. pfft.

Since I assume the "raise your hand" comment was directed at me, since I used the term "blight"...the strip club I'm referring to had dancers mostly made up of 35-40 year old women, most showing signs of drug and alcohol dependency, C-section scars, and other horrors. Think B-or C-squad level dancers. It is treated as a joke in town, and you're looked down upon by going there. I actually went once, to play pool, because a friend invited me. Games were only $0.50 each-the cheapest in town. Booze was expensive as hell though. $4 for a miller light.

If she did indeed do this on medical leave, it was entirely correct to fire her. No matter the reason for the leave.

If you are healthy enough to strip, you are healthy enough to work your normal job. Its the same as calling in sick so you can go hiking.

But that isn't why they fired her. If they had there may not have been an issue. It appears* they manufactured reasons to fire her based on their feelings about her stripping, which is problematic.

*At least inasmuch as they either had to pay because they did do that, or there was enough appearance of impropriety that they opted to settle.

What if the medical leave was due to having a child? I know that in the military, my wife was given 42 days of medical leave after poppin the kid out... by like, day 30 she was starting to run short distances. Surely in such a case, one could gain employment at a strip club, should they be so inclined?
