Just because the game is set on a particular planet does not mean they will have to create a "whole" planet for play. Just a few maps here and there with varying scenery to represent different biomes will be sufficient.
For example:
Some form of military base/complex
Jungle/desert/artic themes
Ruined civilian city/hive city
If i remember correctly for the twitch streams, They said they plan to make a planet, but with multiple battlezones, and new battlezones open up for every new campaign, so for first campaign we could start ar polar caps, then after 2 months the campaign is finished, winner declared, Polar cap is "greyed out for invasion" and we move to some other continent.
But they also mentioned that they plan to have more planets later on.
Ah thanks, now thats cool.
oh what i heard was that 1 campaign is about the whole planet not just about 1 area of the planet
and I really hope they stay to this concept cause it would be totally different from all other games
Think they went with 1 planet and multiple "invasion sites" for start, cause it's easier to make one planet and the background story properly, than start with more planets but less content.
and perhaps (this is just my theorycrafting) one day when number of players is big enough, then can open 2 or more planets for invasion(crusade) and your guild can chose where to deploy for the next 2 months campaign.

The progression sounds decent in that it's less about level and more about gear. On the other hand, I would like to know if it's standard gear everywhere or gear with extra effects ala every RPG known to Man. So there's bound to be a loot system for dropping shiny gear, with rarer/better gear left with minibosses of sorts. Having Nids as the AI race would probably mean Carnifexes, Hive Tyrants and Alpha-level beasts as said bosses. On that note - Swarmlord? Potentially one that spawns on the map in a random location and people can go after it for ultimate prizes - an end-game level boss with stupid health and damage output. Another thought - will the AI actually have some intelligence or just mill about a lot? By this I mean - will they actually pursue targets, launch raids on strongholds, attack factions in the middle of a battle. I know it'll be more difficult to implement but we'd have AI that can be a challenge instead of standing in the same areas waiting for a punch.
they mentioned somewhere that they are aiming for special equipment where some items will be totally unique but how to get this is left open
maybe cause they will include some kind of dungeons there you will find that kind of items
but most of your gear will be ordered at your factions
thay want to let the AI focus the most powerful faction, so yes they will attack areas and not standing around (maybe in dungeon they will)

Dear Fans,
I have a surprise for you this week. :-)
Regarding Planets, The deal I made with Game Workshop (BTW best licencor ever!!) is that they ''gave'' us a Solar System with multiple planets but for launch we will only have one Planet open with multiple continents where many campaigns will be held.
This Solar System is not ''YET'' in the Canon. The deal is IF, and only IF our game is successful MAYBE then some of the Lore we create for the Game including the System name and even some of the players-driven campaign might be added to the Canon.... for eternity!
This has a chance of happening ONLY if The dev and I do our job AND if YOU guys lead Amazing EPIC Campaign. We share this responsibility but the potential Gain in HONOR (having your StrikeForce name in the Canon!!!)
Its a far fetch goal since Games Workshop are very protective of the Canon...... so a big Maybe!
I commit to our part!!
The rest will be up to you! ;-)
OMG, I have been reading so many books now that I have started to speak like the Lord High Commander Solar Macharius. Reading now Angel of Fire!! :-)

that would be awesome
if we get into the lore of WH40k some1 should write a book about the war of the planet we fought on and that in the view of the winner faction
it would be so cool to read:"and then there came Savij, slaying all enemy factionleaders at once in a single swing of his mighty chainsword and the battle was won. THE END"
i try to read through the horus heresy atm but the books are so expensive in german :(

Where do you buy them?
I'm from croatia, and i buy all my black library books from amazon. de, the prices are 20 Euro for new releases, 12 euro for older releases, and 4-7 euro if discount
http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_5?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85Z%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Dforeign-books-tradein&field-keywords=horus+heresy&sprefix=horus%2Caps%2C224
fulgrim is 6,6 euro
http://www.amazon.de/Fulgrim-Visions-Treachery-Horus-Heresy/dp/1844164764/ref=sr_1_1?s=foreign-books-tradein&ie=UTF8&qid=1373529039&sr=1-1&keywords=fulgrim
and delivery is 5 Euro, no matter the number of books, unless the package is above 5kg if i remember correctly.
P.S.
sorry for offtopic, but i saved lot's of money since i started buying books from amazon, (bookstores in Croatia sell them for 20+ euros usualy), thought more people knew of how cheap amazon is!

the price went down a bit, to late for me
the problem is that they stopped produce this books in german language and thats why it is so expensive

So... nothing about non-Space Marines, then?
Also the choices are interesting.
We have green marines, blue marines, grey marines, and red marines, so it covers most of the color spectrum aside from the yellows.

Well, that's a fair bit more exciting.I bet the implemintation of the BT's will conincide with the arrival of SoB, the inquistion's IG, and Gk. That as a stand alone faction seems more than fair to me.

I have a few questions that I would like answered: 1) This is the first MMO I may invest in, for me the problem with MMO's for me is that I get intimidated by death, I get the feeling if I die once then I will have to re-start over again as a rank 1 when I could have been a rank 30 before. My question is when we die, if we respawn do we respawn as the same guy that I took months to make into a level 30 sternguard (as an example) with all my current Wargear? or do I have to start a fresh as a new blank level 1 marine? 2) The inquisition? SoB is a very nice army and will win a lot of fans over as well as GK if you decide to include them, but I have one concern and that are the Black ships of the inquisition with the Exterminatus. My question is that are you going to include the Black ship fleets? even if they decide to nuke the entire planet destroying everything in sight? 3) If you are using Iron warriors for CSM will I be able to become a Warpsmith? (over time of course) if so then I am really psyched for this game, as I love Warpsmiths, and will CSM be able to be Terminators as well? just some questions, I have that's all apart from that this seems like it could really take off I think Ork politics could be really amusing..

1) With the exception of Diablo's "hardcore mode" where if you die your character is gone, I know of no mmo type that has perma death. Most likely you willjust respawn after an arbitrary time at a safer locale.
2) Exterminatus should not be included as it will give the Imperium factions an instant "I win" button. Other factions would be unable to claim any sort of campaign victories if one faction could blow up the world when things started looking bad for them.
3) Unknown if a warpsmith will be available. More than likely, Chaos options will be the same as the Loyalist options with more spiky bits. Unknown if terminators will be available.

As far as exterminatus goes, all factions have their own methods, but none of the factions are really likely to actually use it (especially Orks, who theoretically could manage it, but wouldn't want to because war is better than peace).

They work fantastically lore wise: All are basically mandated regularly or already part of the Inquisition. 2. BT's, the Inquisition, and SoB hate pyskers, and would rather persecute them than ally with them (with the exception of GK's & Radical Inquisitors) which will alienate them from any of the current SM choices. 3. GK's are about as rare and powerful as Chaplains. There is no need for 1,000('s of) players to have access to the strongest SM's without the penalty of also being allied with the IG (Which should be the 2nd F2P faction). 4. SoB are not particularly good at CC even with acts of faith, BT's are, but aren't good a ranged warfare, to which the SoB utterly dominate in midrange, but fall short where the IG pick the slack. Look at their choices in the codex: SoB's regularly carry Bolters, Melta's, and Flamers have the SM equivalent of Devestators, and even their Assault Squads never truly get into CC. The BT's barely can get 1 heavy weapon per troops choice, are geared almost entirely for CC, and have trouble NOT moving towards an enemy. It is better to have all these armies fully fledged out, but as classes fulfilling a role than have them struggle being armies independent from each other. This also means that each detachment can act independently from one another, but would be strongest as a whole (promoting fan based play, and cooperative meta play), rather than trying to explain to everyone why one/two/three of the most popular factions in the game have suddenly reversed their near 10,000 year standing on pyskers.

I guess the BT are just too awesome to be in.
If these are the only chapters I am deciding between dark angels and blood angels, whoever are the ones who really just want to charge head first into the thickest enemy group and mess everyone up, badly, like really badly, like so badly when they hear the roars of our cries and the names of our characters they will all flee back to their itty bitty bases.
That is some sexy art work.

Ork politics = I'z bigga den youz, Youz do wot I'z tells ya or I'll stomp ya good!
Ok thanks I was a bit worried about the first question, if that's the case then AWESOME Im in... now time to grab a few friends and pull them in *Insert cheesy evil laughter* ...

Yup the official "Eternal Crusaders" (the phrase taken directly from their codex) will not be participating in the Eternal Crusade. Somebody had a major ball drop. I guess Helbrecht's flagship Eternal Crusader (once again direct from their codex) will sit this one out. A mind boggling poor decision. May as well leave Abbadon out of a Black Crusade, or St Sabbat out of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

That's debatable. Even GW's own lore says that Sisters are the equal of Space Marines. That GW hasn't been able to reproduce that int he tabletop is mostly because they haven't given it any serious consideration. d3m01iti0n wrote:Yup the official "Eternal Crusaders" (the phrase taken directly from their codex) will not be participating in the Eternal Crusade. Eternal Crusade was not named after the Black Templars. The Sabbat Worlds crusade WAS, however, named after Sabbat. Similarly, there is no need for BTs to exist at all for something to be called an eternal crusade-- but every single "black crusade" has been led by Abbadon. While I understand that you are mad that your specific color of space marine isn't in, you're more than likely going to have eight different colors to choose from (four loyalist, four traitors) in the end. Personally, I'm still more interested in how they're doing the non-Marine races, in terms of factions and color schemes.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

So, the game's website seems to be saying that your choice of Space Marine chapter/Ork clan ect. will confer certain bonuses and abilities.
http://eternalcrusade.com/
Each army has its own form of diversity, in the form of Chapters, Legions, Clans or Craftworlds. All warriors of a faction must choose one of these organizations. The choice affects not only your appearance, but also provides a set of bonuses and abilities unique to that division.
An interesting mechanic, subfactions within factions.
So for Chaos, looks like we're getting Word Bearers. And I'd guess Black Legion too, given that they're the "main" Traitor Legion.

When was the last time your read the BT codex? I dont need to argue; Ive got printed GW fluff to back my post up. Judging from various forumsan Behavior's FB everybody else is saying the same thing I am.

Crusade is a generic term in the Imperium, it's not just something that the Black Templars do. Likewise, the word "eternal" isn't specially claimed by the Templars. In this case, in refers to the ongoing, "unending" nature of the game.
