Why is it that some people add the two sides together when talking about Apocalypse but not when talking about other games?

I am not aware of ANY game where that seems to be the norm.
Perhaps some people that play Apocalypse suffer from delusions of grandeur to some extent, and need to boost their egos....

I would be more charitable and say that it just emphasizes the insane amount of stuff on the board. Plus, 20k per side becomes a 40k 40k game, and that's just awesome.

Is it possible to have a 1v1 apoc game? I would like to play one, but I find having 10 or so people at the table is a bit unpleasant for me.

well technically , if you divide 59000 by 10 its 5900 average per player

I only had 5500 though, and 1 tau had 3800 but one guy had almost 8000 so it evened it out

That is correct. My computer's calculator sucks >.<

5900 is more understandable. That's only 1900 points more than my total Wh40k collection

Yes but it is far more time consuming. At the very least you'll want a few extra people just to help move things and catch fallen dice ect.

But if you keep it in the 3000 a side area it should just be a long game of 40k.

You can play a smaller Apoc game.

There are even Apoc tournaments, which is usually a set point value using the normal FoC, but adding a Super heavy/Apoc Formation slot on the chart.

With the old apoc rules in 4th/5th edition, I found that two people that know what they're doing can play 5-6k in a day without too much hassle. More than that gets stupid.

We warmed up by playing 2 games the weeks prior with 4 players and 1500 and 1850 a player , we did those games in 4 hours

that would be 6000 total and 7400 total

I own about 40k points of 40k stuff. Once a year, everyone in our club takes me on in an epic Apoc battle. Tons of fun.

that was also my first 40k apoc game and it was amazing. The dude is right, 10-12 hrs of playing APOC just flys by. I was the IG player with the sick amount of leman russ/basilisk etc.
the salamanders player is an amazing painter, his stuff only gets more beautiful in person.

Me and a friend of mine had an apocalypse game a while back to finish off a campaign we both had, 4000Points each. Only took about six hours to play, seven counting an hour lunch break. Orks and chaos, it was great. After that it was a must to get myself another stompa. I guess the reason for the post is to say ' yes you can play with two people'.
and seriously how can someone ONLY have 1500 points? You know you are going to want to get more.
