How much of the game is actually done and how will the budget be used?
We have built core gameplay systems and actually have the basic gameplay up and running. We are continuing to build more of the gameplay systems, networking, and content necessary for the full game.
How will the game be distributed? Will it be on Steam?
Once we submit and are approved by Greenlight, we will be distributing through Steam. We will also distribute through other platforms, which we will announce as they are confirmed.
How does platform-specific DRM work?
Every platform has a difference stance on DRM and a different way they integrate it if they require it. We will not write any DRM into the core software unless a particular platform needs it there in order for us to get the game to you through that platform. That being said, platforms like Steam have very elegant versions of DRM that are completely invisible to the player. Just start the game and play!
What are the system requirements for the game?
Our current target specs are:
• Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) or Mac OSX 10.6.8
• 2.0+ GHz processor
• 2 GB system RAM
• A graphics card with shader model 3.0 support
What are the plans for mobile and console support? What about the Ouya?
We're currently focused on PC and Mac. But we've built the interface to work on any platform so that should the opportunity arise, we'll be ready to port without starting from scratch. And you can bet we'll be looking for more platform opportunities!
Will there be a Linux version of the game?
Currently we do not have plans for a Linux version, but we're researching it right now.
How is WARMACHINE: Tactics different from the WARMACHINE tabletop game?
The video game will be familiar to WARMACHINE players and at the same time is going to provide a whole new experience. The scope is different, a few more options for squad-building open up as units gain experience, and you can take more complex actions in combat. We’ll be rolling out a slew of videos and postings in the coming weeks that will demonstrate many of the unique features of WARMACHINE: Tactics with explanations straight from the design team.
What are the plans for HORDES?
Our ambition is to realize as much of the Iron Kingdoms as possible. If we blow this thing away, we’ll be moving on to HORDES as soon as we are able to.
What are the plans for the Retribution of Scyrah and the Convergence of Cyriss?
We are planning to introduce Retribution of Scyrah into the game. Reaching certain stretch goals (to be revealed soon) will get them here much sooner! Same goes for Convergence, although their unique game mechanics mean they will require more time and effort to include.
How do I get both versions of Sturgis?
The limited-edition sculpt of Sturgis (with gold card and collector’s coin) can be obtained by selecting Sturgis through any pledge level with a physical reward OR as an Add-On for $20 to any pledge at the New Recruit level or higher.
If you want to make both versions of Sturgis, just increase your pledge by $10 and when the campaign ends and you receive your backer survey by email select the Dual Allegiance Add-On.
Will the novice warcasters and Sturgis be available after the Kickstarter?
The novice warcasters will release as different, unlimited sculpts several months after the exclusive limited-edition sculpts have been delivered to our backers. Sturgis will eventually see a general unlimited release as a different sculpt as well, with a release date TBD.
Can I pledge using PayPal?
We are currently exploring PayPal as an alternate payment method. We’ll let you know when and if we make it available.
Can I purchase add-ons without pledging for the video game itself?
No. To be eligible for add-ons you must pledge at the $20 New Recruit level or higher.
Why is international shipping so expensive?
Unfortunately, we must list one rate to cover all possible shipping locations in the world, which of course defaults to the highest.
However, we're working furiously to sort out some different international shipping options that we hope will reduce shipping costs. Watch our FAQ and updates for more info soon!
Why do I have to pledge $25 to get the digital game manual?
The digital game manual is an added benefit for the increased pledge over the normal game, along with the forum badge. The manual itself is something of an art project with a great deal of additional art, writing, and graphic design work that goes into it. It’s designed for enthusiasts but of course is not needed to play the game. The game will be built with in-game tutorials to teach you how to play. The addition of a digital game manual is a very standard offering among digitally distributed video games today.
How many limited-edition sculpts can I get?
The sculpts are limited to one of each character, per backer. However, as an Add-On, you can obtain the parts necessary to assemble Sturgis in both his Cygnar and Cryx forms.
We have limited the sculpts because they are intended as exclusive rewards for the backers of WARMACHINE: Tactics. While we realize this may seem like we’re also limiting the potential income for the project, it’s important to us that we honor our backers by maintaining the exclusivity of these rewards; we do not want to undermine their prestige by flooding the community with them. We’re not here to sell miniatures—we already do that pretty well—we’re here to bring the support of our community together so we can create an amazing new kind of WARMACHINE experience. We hope you’ll support this decision to maintain the spirit of Kickstarter by this choice.
Will sculpts of all the models be previewed before the Kickstarter campaign ends?
We are doing our best to provide 3D models of all these models as soon as possible, but we can’t say just when we will be able to show them. We’ll reveal each one as soon as it’s done.
Do WARMACHINE models like the novice warcasters and Commander Sturgis come pre-painted and assembled?
No. They are hobby figures that must be assembled and painted (which is half the fun if you ask us!).
Will the Kickstarter-exclusive limited-edition sculpt models be tournament legal when they release?
Yes. This is their official release.
Shipping changes for European Backers:
Thanks to our partners at Cerberus in the UK, we've worked out a plan to ship the limited edition sculpts at a greatly reduced price. And because the items will be shipping from Cerberus in the UK, you won't have additional customs charges either.
NOTE: The shipping cost of the War Chest and Warcaster Portrait, has not changed. This is only for the limited-edition sculpts with card and coin.
How this works: When you pledge, you'll be prompted to add a $25 shipping charge to your pledge. Instead, add the following amounts depending on your territory and number of figures you are going to receive via your pledge or as Add Ons:
Note, because we'll be freighting everything to Cerberus, this may make delivery slightly later than expected domestically, but our hope is that the savings will make pledging for the limited-edition sculpts more palatable!
And thank you to our partners at Cerberus for throwing in and helping us to get this done! Many, many thanks!
For Canadians:
For Canadian backers, we have managed to work out some better shipping options as well!

In just one more day—July 10, 2013—the WARMACHINE: Tactics Kickstarter campaign will launch, the culmination of months of hard work. When we decided this was the right way to fund Tactics, we knew we’d want to go the whole nine yards when it came to the coolest part of a Kickstarter campaign: the rewards. Here’s a sneak peek at a little of what’s waiting!
One of the most exciting things for us in developing this video game is that the close relationship we enjoy with WhiteMoon Dreams through Privateer Press Interactive makes it possible for us to develop new stories and characters in tandem for both the video game and the miniatures game. In other words, as we developed Cygnaran Journeyman Warcaster Lt. Allison Jakes for the video game, we also got to develop her for the tabletop!
The initial sculpt for Jakes, the star of the first single-player Tactics campaign, will be available only through the Kickstarter. That limited-edition sculpt will be available only to backers—and they’ll get it months before an unlimited sculpt is released. As if that weren’t enough, the debut sculpt will be accompanied by a limited-edition collector’s coin and a gold stat card! Jakes’ story is full of twists and turns we’ll reveal once the Kickstarter launches.
As excited as we are to present Jakes in both Tactics and WARMACHINE, we wanted to go even bigger. And that’s why the WARMACHINE: Tactics Kickstarter will make available five more novice warcasters. These unique characters represent up-and-coming ’casters for each of the warring nations of western Immoren, plus Mercenaries, of course!
Just like Jakes, these five novice warcasters will all be available via Kickstarter rewards as limited-edition sculpts accompanied by collector’s coins and gold cards. They’ll all enjoy general release with new sculpts in the future, but these initial sculpts will be offered only through the Kickstarter. Once we make them for our backers, we’ll literally break the molds as part of a Privateer HQ Sledgehammer Tournament!
We’ll have a lot more to share about the new novice warcasters when the WARMACHINE: Tactics Kickstarter launches tomorrow, as well as a new character who represents a number of firsts for WARMACHINE. For now, though, I’ll leave you with the names of these new men and women sure to leave a lasting impact on the world of WARMACHINE.
Cygnar – Journeyman Warcaster, Lt. Allison Jakes
Khador – Kovnik Andrei Malakov
Protectorate of Menoth – Initiate Tristan Durant
Cryx – Aiakos, Scourge of the Meredius
Mercenaries – Gastone Crosse
Retribution of Scyrah – Elara, Tyro of the Third Chamber

Spoiler:
Additionally, you can get your hands on the first warcaster character ever to die and cross factions, Commander Dalin Sturgis, months before his 2014 release. This model includes two different heads, weapons, and power plants so that you can build his heroic Cygnar incarnation if you prefer to play him living, or you can make his undead Cryx incarnation, Sturgis the Corrupted, and let him lead the forces of the Dragonfather! Sturgis is a limited-edition sculpt and comes with both Cygnar and Cryx exclusive gold stat cards, to match your modeling choice, as well as a limited-edition collector’s coin commemorating both his light and dark sides.

No Hordes characters means I can safely skip this... not so sure about a KS-exclusive character sculpt, those will be very sought after in the future. Makes a lot of business sense as a reward, and will get a lot more people to sign on, though.

Well, considering there's no [playable]* Hordes in the game, there's no reason for Hordes Characters to show up(unless they decided to add some as later incentives to up the total near the end).
Also, I'm glad that there'll be a retail version for each, even though I'm pledging for the whole gamut tomorrow. Gives those who care not a jot about the game a chance to use these new characters.
Also, on the PP boards it's been confirmed ALL of them have the Journeyman rules. I look forward to someone fielding Jr., Jakes, and Gastonne(assuming he IS Llaelese as his name suggests) in a single list.
*No idea if it'll happen, just covering in case there's a level where you fight Circle or something.

Just skipping the Kickstarter or are you skipping the game altogether?

Probably just the kickstarter... then I can decide about the game the old-fashioned way... talking to people / seeing reviews of whether or not it is good and worth getting!

You must contribute to the funding of a video game! Much different from a preorder
But yes, I think the miniatures offered to backers will only be like backers, unlike things like the Con Ashlynn that were pre released and then released later.

The first exclusive sculpts will be a available only to backers. A few months down the road they will release non exclusive sculpts of the minis for everyone else.
So a win for those who back and will get an exclusive mini and a win for those who don't who still want the rules eventually

I wonder what they'll be, a FA: C solo journeyman sort of thing?
The sad thing is that if the Cygnar one doesn't have Arcane Shield, she'll see almost no play time compared to the regular Journeyman. Unless they come up with something equally valuable for her (I doubt it though)

Or you wait. They mention an "unlimited" release of the models featuring
a different sculpt. Thus they will continue to be playable and available even
though the original sculpts will have a limited release. It's an incentive to
back the kickstarter without creating a game availability imbalance.

Seems more likely that they'll be characters.

Niiiiice. I'll be interested to see what the Menite initiate is like, but if he can run an extra jack in our faction and has even one reasonably useful spell, he'll almost certainly be awesome.

Curious as to how the fig looks. May back this just for the fig. Don't have much faith in Whitemoon actually delivering anything. Have been burned with the Double Fine Adventure KS weary of software KS.
That they don't have any released game under their belt is not a good sign. The only news article I can find about them is from 2009 in the LA times and how letting go of one employee caused a ripple affect of economic ruin.
