Possible: let's put it another way, here is my original post;
Buzzsaw wrote: Cyporiean wrote:They're raising money for the video game. If they started handing out freebies that they have to ship, then that is money that isn't going to the video game.
Exactly. Let's be fair here, this is a campaign to develop a video game, which has a lot of new content added to the game since the start. Compare what a $20 pledge gets a backers today versus the start of the campaign.
The cards are a fine way to raise revenue: they offer something that has limited appeal (as pointed out, only the card art is unique to the campaign), but is a very high profit item for them to add.
I'd much rather revenues be used to pay developers to work up the Scyrah and Cyriss faction expansions.
Do you have an objection to any of that? if not, excellent.
Steady the course!

$10 just seems so high. I realize we're splitting hairs, and in the long run $10 isn't really much, but I feel like add ons like that are more appealing at an "impulse buy" price point of $5 or less. At that price I'd find it more appealing. I mean, we're talking more than $1 a card. You can get replacement cards from PP for the minis game for cheaper.....

Of course you can. But they didn't have to commission a new artists to do those cards (they've already comissioned them once). Thus added cost. And of course, you know, some people are completionists and cant' resist anything exlusive.
I won't be buying them, buy I don't really find deck builders enjoyable.

Just sayin (again)- it's not new art- it's already appeared as game art and as mini art. Re-using it as illustration art won't mean they need to pay the illustrators any more money unless the contract says they do. They're not re-commissioning the illustrations.

Okay. Unless they had to pay a different fee to have the cards made/designed out of cycle of their deck building game (it is a closed game, is it not?)
Can you comfortably say the price is unfounded? Can I say it is? Can we agree on the completionist/exclusive angle?

Definitely agree that it's for completionist/exclusive. If founded means people will pay for it and it's a way to generate revenue for their campaign, I'd agree. If it means a price justified in any way by overhead, I wouldn't. Obviously, I'd lean towards the latter definition.

Shipping from US to Aus is absurdly expensive. I'm talking $17-25 USD(last I checked) if I wanted to send, say, a metal GW blister over there.

I have never participated in a Kickstarter before. Can i pick and choose what i want added? Or do you have to just pick a cash level to get what you want? I only want the miniatures, The game will keep me busy on downtime, maybe the E-books.

Choose the pledge you want.
Then if you want add ons, click the manage your pledge button and you can set the new total (what your pledge is + total for the addons + shipping if applicable).
Once the kickstarter is over you will receive a survey in which you pick your addons (as well as for example which journeyman model you get if any are included with your pledge).

I only want the miniatures, The game will keep me busy on downtime, maybe the E-books. You choose a level which has set rewards and select it, then you can manage your Pledge in kickstarter to add on extra money to buy Add-ons. So if you bought So lets say you choose the Dead-Eye level, $40, which gets you the game and one miniature, but you also want another mini and the digital novellas pack. So, you start by selecting the $40 pledge, then up your pledge amount to $70 ($40 for the pledge level, $20 for the extra mini and $10 for the Novellas) plus whatever you might have to pay for shipping. That'll net you two minis, the digital books and the game. Just remember that you can't have more than one copy of any miniature, so if you buy the $205 level which includes all the minis, you can't also add-on any others*. *Except the Sturgis extra bits add-on of course, which just lets you make Sturgis both ways.

Also, because it's down at the bottom and thus very commonly missed: You can only add the models if you've at least pledged for the $20 game level. You can't only get the models.

Looking over the cards, they're just completionist. I don't think
they're going to be game breaking (MAYBE with the exception
of Sturgis).
Here's my two posts on the subject from the pp forums:
Default
Looking at the cards in the image, they look like the novice warcasters will
take one of your commander slots. I think that if you're planning on using
NOVICE warcasters as your commander, you either have some weird
situational game plan in mind, or you're just doing it for funsies, or everyone
is including one novice as part of a format. Besides, whomever's deck it
is might very well provide you with a novice warcaster.
I am assuming, of course, that the novice warcasters are underpowered
compared to their warcaster counterparts.
However, I'm not sure what to make of including Sturgis. He's a full
warcaster, and so his power levels should be up there.
In High Command, commanders do two things that I'm aware of:
*They determine the types of cards you can put into your market.
*They Rush out for one turn of combat and then disappear.
Replace a regular warcaster with Jakes or Durant and I'm assuming
you'll get some weird low powered commander who doesn't necessarily
turn the tide of battle the way a warcaster does, but shifts it slightly.
Again, the above doesn't include Sturgis.
Scouring for card text, let's compare Irusk to Jakes, for example.
Irusk has 3 power to JAkes's 2, costs 2 more CMD to rush (which means
to field), but his ability prevents warriors from dying whereas Jakes looks
like she grants one model 2 health.
(This is from scouring google image search and zooming in card text, btw. Not
sure if I'm looking at early versions of cards or the final print).

I thought the Rush cost was to field immediately to a battle as opposed to going into the deck? Ignore if that's what you meant, of course.

Ignore if that's what you meant, of course.
Warcasters/Warlocks are never in the deck to begin with.
They determine what cards you can include in the deck. If you look at
warcaster cards, they have two color bars on them. When you start the game,
you pick three warcasters. They may or may not have similar colors, but I've
been told you want some overlap.
Every card in the game is associated with a specific color. If one of your
warcasters has a color, you can include those cards in your market.
Then once per game they enter a single field of battle. (pay the rush cost).
Then they're gone.

Well they hinted at the character add-ons a week or so ago and haven't revealed them yet. Doing that or revealing more of the renders for the journeyman would be a good start.
But yeah - no update for days now will equal a big slowdown.

but if they throw In 'new stuff' of whatever sort the money that it brings in will be needed to fund the 'new stuff' and won't make any (much) difference to the amount they need to fund 'fire and ice' stretch
OK they could add on something after that, but then you risk a folk reducing pledges if it looks like they won't reach the new stuff (and based on Reb Box Games 2 and Thon that's a bad idea)

Just releasing the renders of the last few journeyman would likely help honestly. At this point there just isn't anything to talk about and so no excitement.

I think it would really depend on what things we are talking about: I know that I just picked up the Convergence book, and it's an amazing faction. It's also the newest faction, and... they are, so far, not at all represented in this game.
While I doubt that such a thing is contemplated, a Convergence journeyman would be... desirable.

Would be nice, but would have all sorts of weird implications for the faction. It would seriously screw with focused casters like Axis, allowing them ranged builds that possibly weren't conceived of when balancing him, and then there's the sheer focus efficiency that Convergence already has. You could probably get away with it by not giving them a Field Marshal ability, but it'd certainly be tetchy...

There was a discussion on the Ret boards about their Journeyman caster, and it occurs to me that they almost seem to be doing that with her, albeit badly.
A Convergence caster I could see as (even more) of a "super-solo", perhaps a chance for some natural weapon master action (since the faction, as near as I an tell, does not have any WMs). Heck, give her focus and some spell but not the ability to take Vectors, that would be new!
Mostly wishlisting, but I do think that people who are thinking about Convergence in one form or another don't yet have much to interest them in Tactics so far. I just think this is an untapped well.
