Battleroad Games & Hobbies (facebook post) have apparently been told the Kroot Carnivore box set is out of production an permanently unavailable to order

However on the GW UK site they are still listed (but with a 'expected to ship in 2 weeks' note)

as a plastic kit it seems unlikely that they are going to be dropped, but perhaps it indicates a change in either how many you get in the box, or maybe they're planning to throw in one of the other kroot sprues and boost the prices to compensate ?

(of course they're always the possibility a rep has got fed up with being asked about them on a daily basis, and just made stuff up to get Battleroad to stop calling)

Probably to reduce it to a box of 6 for the same price.

This would be my wild ass guess if the OP is right. It seems to me that they are slowly moving to a model that's "full box" for base line troops, "half box" for auxiliaries or elites...and of course they wouldn't pass the savings along for going to that half box.

This would be my guess as well, only with 8 per box and new cover art in grey.

It's going to be a shrink box for sure. Kroot box still uses the large box design, that mostly seem to be fantasy these days.

Gotta think of the almight margins and shelf space.

Seems silly to do krrot direct only instead of something tau players will definitely buy like crisis suits or something.

A revision of Kroot models/rules will make me get back into purchasing GW products.

If it's to make them 6 or 8 models per box, I will take it as a sign from my higher power that it is time to move on from this hobby.

Man... I am at a point where I can officially say I am off GW and 40k... I don't know why, but taking 10 man boxes and putting them to 5 at the same price was my last straw.

I may still pick up the occasional FW model but my love for 40k is at an absolute all time low, and I've been into it since I was 8. Yeesh.

Seems like an odd thread to bring this up since we have nothing but speculation about any changes to kroot. More appropriate to throw this in the eldar thread with the DA changes.

GW doesn't make upgrade sprues. It's a fully redesigned sprue or nothing.

I, too, found it to be very off-putting. I ended up purchasing three 10-man boxes of Dire Avengers from my two local stores at discount to make a quick $15 per box on eBay, but it felt dirty. I'll do the same thing if it happens with Kroot Carnivores as well, but I have a history with doing stuff like that (Twinkies, 12-packs of Surge, etc.) The main difference, is that the products that usually have a quick resell profit are discontinued. GW's products, on the other hand, just double in price...

Fair enough, and I know it's only speculation... just kinda doesn't seem too far fetched. I am not happy about it or sadistic, just kinda sad that this thing that has been part of my entertainment sources for so long has lost it's lustre. It's not just money policy like the speculation leads to, but just the general tone of work and design they have been putting out lately. I don't think my tastes and preferences moved that far from where they were 10 years ago, since I am sitting still, this kind of stuff means GW moved away from me, or at least that's how it feels.

Smaller games, that don't demand so much time, cash and effort, where I can't look back 3 years and think the prices were an outrageous steal at any point are way more appealing now. I used to love the time when the biggest obstacle to me wasn't the $ but the time I would need to spend painting! And I have waaaaay more $ than I did 10 years ago, it's almost become a principal thing... the game keeps getting bigger, the price for minis keeps going up, the amount you get in a box keeps going down... it just sucks to see.

I know people say this all the time on these boards, and that it is nothing new, but for me it kind of is. I mean I was annoyed/offended by stuff over the past few years, but recently, this is the first time I don't feel particularly strongly, because I don't feel like GW is my thing to care about anymore. Again, sad for me.

Anyways, sorry about the OT, 5 kroot in a box just seems like a waste... who ever fields just 5???

Kroots are now worth taking alot due to upgrades rounds in the rifles.
They drop model count per box, keep the price and they make more, as allways.

Well fingers crossed I'm wrong on this,

but a trader in the states being told they are OOP, +

GW online (UK) not having them available for dispatch

does seem to suggest a change of sorts

not really being up on the Kroot I'd assumed a box merge, but as has been pointed out the rest is all finecast so reducing the numbers in the box (were the figures on 2 or 4 sprues) seems most likely

(I guess it could be another manufacturing screw up but it seems an odd time for it to come to light)

They're excellent sculpts and the kits are still one of the best in terms of variety, poses, and the like. I doubt they're getting resculpts.

Hopefully, Krootox and Kroot Hounds are being made as separate sprues and included.

More likely, it's reducing the unit size per box.

As for the possibility of new sculpts, is there any precedence in the new hardcover 40k codecii for having older models be shown in the codex images but then have new models released afterwards? I thought they usually release the codex with pictures of all the new models or simply withhold any images of units that may have new models coming out that didn't make it in time for the codex.

Kroot squads have a minimum of 10. GW will not sell a unit box that is illegal, no matter what conspiracy theory you hold to.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Just to share a dream:
The enhanced Kroot box, including many many variants and shapers, plus a plastic Kroot animal box (Kroot hounds, Krootox, Kroothawk) and a finecast big monster will be released end of the year, accompanying a Codex Tau supplement in hardcover. *sigh*

Disclaimer: No, this is not a rumour

Woo hoo my company is making news . I don't know why the kroot are now OOP but two of my distributors have informed they are as I have been trying to get them for a month now.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
