So I am starting a goblin army but wanted a bit of a twist, I really like the warriors of chaos rules and thought that I would try and use their book as oppose to the goblin book

My ideas so far are using a horde of 40 'fanatics' as flail marauders, converting some chaosy chariots to represent khorne chariots and a few conversions using squigs and characters

Do you guys think this would work as a concept and in the background and what other ideas could I incorporate into the army?

40K ARMIES
Wolves of pestilence ( nurgle space wolves
Lamenters jump list at 1500pts
Eldar: Just Started and am very excited!
FANTASY ARMIES
Wood Elves: Dryad army around 600pts
Ogre Kingdoms: Pirate gunners = 1850pts

Goblins are way too small to pass as Warriors without very heavy conversion ...
And they would look ridiculous on 25mm bases
But if you plan to convert them very heavily, it might work ... probably not as much as Armoured Grots in 40K though

I think it might work if you do multiple goblins on a base.
You could have a goblin holding a chaos shield, with another goblin standing on his shoulders with hand weapon.

For chariots, a wagon pulled by boars with a few goblins and squigs in it should work.

Squigs being S5 may be your saving grace. Warriors have a lot of S5 and sprinkling squigs into the units could work.
Gore Beast chariot could be pulled by a gigantic squig.
Skull Crushers would have to be armored squig riders.

Hellcannon: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/NIGHT_GOBLIN_SQUIG_GOBBA.html

So yes, it could work. It would be a fair bit of work to pull off, but lucky for you, Warrior Armies are low model count.

Sure. But it will get confusing for your opponents because every unit is exactly not what it seems and is represented in a whole other army. Seeing 40 fanatics on the table is going to be odd.

This seems less like a "I love the models but don't like the rules!" and more of a "I want to be a cheapskate!" case to me.

40 fanatics is being a cheapskate? also, wanted to clarify I would us them to represent marauders not warriors

Sig - I think you missed this one by a mile.
Squigs and fanatics are by no means cheap.

This is for looks more than price.

Much for the same reason i use the mangler squigs to mount characters on. (£18 per squig, plus rider instead of a flat £12)

Same with chariots really, since you need the squigs to pull them, and normal squigs are £3 each.

You said "fanatics" thus I thought you'd use regular Goblins with a ball glued to it - I've seen such "conversions" before.Apologies if you didn't intend to put it that way.

Personally, for my Fanatics (I got 29...don't ask...), I used regular Goblin archers, frailed off their bows and quivers, put a similar-sized styrofoam boal at the end of a plastic chain (cheap fashion jewelry) and used superglue to make the chain harden. Added some greenstuff + detailed work to add a few sticking-out tongues to them.

KInda confused about you, on the one hand, saying you prefer WoC rules, but on the other hand, want to use Marauders

Still not liking the idea though. It would be very confusing for your enemy and on top of that, the rules don't fit to Goblins either...not by a long shot :/

Oh and anyone who buys Goblinz at full price isn't a true Goblin player

Hmmm.. I can see this isn't going down well, I wanna do a converted woc, orcs or goblin army so anyone else got any ideas that would be fun for painting and conversion as they are the main aspect of my hobby, entering uk youngbloods this year (my last chance).

Orcs are much bigger. I don't even know how people can paint goblins.

The problem is making them still look like Orcs. If you nurgled em, they would just be like plaguebearers. I think the whole LOTR motif is very chaos-y without going over the top. But then they'd just be like black orcs.

Slaanesh or TZ Orcs would be really hard to pull off but it would get you a lot of attention if you could. And I think it would be funny as hell for a funny army.

My first thought is, What do you specifically like model wise about OnG and what do you like rule wise about WOC?

If you want to use orcs, maybe the best way of using them is as chaos dwarf slaves i.e. get black orcs and put some chaos armour on them? I like the idea of the fanatics as marauders, however i feel the chariots would be too small compared to normal chaos ones if you just used squigs.

May your chest inspire the hopes and dreams of millions.
May your arm girth frighten the elderly, slow moving adults and very small children.
May your gains be plentiful.
Go forth and LIFT.

We paint Goblins in batches - apply 1 color on all Goblins at once. Then go for the next color. I usually paint the first two ranks in detail and the rest of the ranks gets a very simple painting with no details.

I still don't think WoC rules are fitting for Goblins, not at all. Forced to call and accept challenges? Pledge allegiance to 4 gods? Have strong magic weapons? Just can't see this going well :/
