Hello , i have a problem becouse i lose my yesterday game ( very much , i killed 3-5 models... ) as necron vs long range army ( large blast s8 ap3 48'' range etc) and now im searching allies with cheap but powerfull long range support , what is better tau or csm or even orks,gk ?

Necrons have plenty of ways to take it to enemy artillery.

Like Mali asks. What was your list?

This time i lose with necron ;p
My list :
Overlord ( warscythe orb 2+/3++) with 7 lychguard with cryptek( veil of darkness)
2 ghost ark with 5 warriors each
20 warriors foot
2 annihilation barge

His list:
2 doomsday ark...
annihilation barge
2 night scythe with 5 immortals
cheap overlord - warscuthe orb
3 wraiths
2x 5warriors ( cheap hidden troops

vanguard strike deployment
my first turn nothing... ( 24" range etc. )
his first turn explode my ghost ark and annihilation barge
its 5,6 pen and 3+ explode ( ap 1 from the doomsday ark )

seams like you have a more melee set up. Did your Anni barge just roll badly??

im not as good with Necron as I am with my elder but from what I do know it seams it was more of a bad match up. so before you go looking at allies look at your list building.

pick up things like shooty destroyes night/doom scythes immortals. at least that is what I see in my meta a lot of. I rarely see foot sloggy warriors unless its nothing but foot slogy

or wait for an experienced necron player to post =P

Mali i was thinking about doom scythes but i would lose my ghost ark/annihiliation barge anyway ( i have to wait for second turn ) and s7 ap- isnt so good vs av13

really destroyers... the worst model in necron army ( and flayed ones )
3 destroyers with lascannon cost me 180 points and its only 3 shots with bs4 without twin linked or something

@tarkin, did you take out the Doomsday Arks with the Lychguard in T2? Really, this looks like bad match up more than a need for allies. Crons generally don't need allies.

In this case, making the Doomsday arks move is critical. With your Lychguard you should have no problem doing that. So T1, if you don't get first turn, deploy behind LOS blocking terrain. Veil lych in to take out Doomsday arks. As soon as they move, you should be fine.

Btw, Heavy destroyers might help your cause here.

MarkCron You mean 5 destroyers -3 with lascannon for example. I will try this but i was already thinking about 3 broadsides or hammerhead ^^

Heavy destroyers are units that give you long range high str and low AP shooting. I wouldn't combine them, just take a couple of heavy destroyers. However, my comment was simply to illustrate that heavy destroyers may be useful - you apparently don't think they are

I don't necessarily think they are the answer here, because you would have to rebuild your list to get them in. As I said though, with Lychguard, this matchup may be just a tactics question.

Why only 5 warriors in each ghost ark?

If you pack in 10 you can get potentially up to 40 shots out of it turn 2. Flat out turn 1 for a 4+ jink.

Literally nothing? how defensive did he deploy in vanguard strike? were you able to use terrain to block los?

-5 warriors in ghost ark becouse i didnt have points left and i used it to get d3 warriors each turn ;p , you know ghost ark + blob of warriors

-he deployed in right top corner ( me opposite ) i had only little hill that i couldnt hide all vehicle ( he could see it ) so the distance between us was about 35'' or more

Ummm....you can only regenerate to starting unit size with warriors and a GA (or are you referring to replenishing your 20 man blob?)

To summarise this game you lost,

a) You deployed over 35" away (which doesn't help because Stationary Doomsday arks shoot 72" iirc)
b) There was no LOS blocking terrain
c) He had first turn
d) There was no night fight for this mission?

In this case, a solar pulse would have helped a lot because a,b,c are not things you can fix with an army list change (unless you buy an ADL and put the GA/AB behind that for the 25% obscured). Maybe drop 1 Lychguard and a couple of warriors to get a cryptek with pulse?

Oh, and if you still want allies with long range, maybe the new eldar. Don't war walkers with scatter lasers have a long range?

Either a look at your list or a tactics change.

Are you running 4++ lychguards?

Try running the ghost arks 10 warriors in each, flat out them for a 4+ jink.

Have you got any other units?

I your going imotehk a cryptek of eternity is a must, you get 1 re-roll a phase, so you can re-roll the dice to see if night fighting is in effect.

iirc the lightning strom doesn't work with solar pulse, but imotek automatically makes it nightfighting turn 1

I always enjoy running a monolith, 14/14/14 with a str 8 ap 3 pie plate. And when you deep strike it a unit can disembark from the eternity gate

Even though I dislikes them, I have learned to love them.

Being a great ally to Necrons is just a bonus
Imagine the pain you can bring when all your Battlesuites have Night Vision while Imothek and his Cryptek keep it night for a couple of turns.
