So what do you all think about the new BMS? It is sturdier and packs way more punch, but is it worth the extra points?
Discuss!

I personally like it. Once decked out, you double it's firepower for about 300 points. One dead tank of any kind (besides super-heavy) every turn plus 2 S10 AP2 7" blast templates is a lot, and the power fields mean it's a much better damage sponge.

Wel, the Lifta-Droppa continues to be hilarious, especially when it's lobbing Land Raiders or Monoliths around. Let's be very clear - you are not paying the base cost for this model. You are paying 1130 points for it so you get the 2 deff kannons and 10 lootas inside. It puts out a staggering amount of firepower and is insanely durable. In one turn, this can kill any non-super heavy, fire a D weapon at range and then launch 2 S10 AP1 massive blasts. I think that's pretty good. Let's be honest though - it's apocalypse, you'll take one anyway if you like the model. It's worth noting you can revive them too using the new rules, so don't worry about losing them too much.

Actually, I typically take 10 Lootas, 3 Meks, and a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field on every stompa. If you aren't maxing out your repair ability, you are letting yourself die too quickly.

Note that you can't fix lost structure points with your meks though, only the ones that are in the process of being lost. As it's apoc, spending those 45 points on three meks is hardly an issue though.

Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.

Structure points? What are Structure Points?
It's all Hull Points now. Stompas have 12 of them. With enough Grot oilers and my trusty Mek squads I intend to keep it that way.

We acquired a stompa a few weeks ago and are figuring how to load it out. We do have a trip to Warhammer World imminent, when they'll have the Forgeworld stuff available.
What's the consensus on (a) good loadout(s)?
Here, in thanks for any help, is a Stompa cake.

What is this big mek stompa? I had a look inside new apoc book and it didn't anything about a bm stompa.
Also the new stompa rules are pretty lame. I remember a wd where you could pimp your stompa with all sorts of bling.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

Basically it went up in price 200 points and looks like it has less options.
It's not in the same section as the regular Stompa, but in the section with the Titans

That's wrong, and exactly what I was getting at. You have 4 structure points, each worth 3 hull points. If you lose 3 hull points, one structure point is gone. A super-heavy vehicle is not destroyed when it reaches 0 hull points, but when it reaches 0 structure points. So if you have only one structure point left, and your opponent manages to take off 3 hull points, your stompa is gone, no matter how many successful repair rolls you made during your previous turn - because you can't repair structure points. Double-check the rules before trying to exploit them.

There are NO structure points any more (except old data sheets) so yes a mek can fix a hull point a turn (roll reliant). As to the bm stompa/ normal stompa they have uped the points and downed the fire power (a little) but use a stompa mob and they become very hard to shift.

That was the update from the start of 6e. It literally states in the new Apoc book that 1 SP=3 HP for all intents and purposes - the idea of a "structure point" no longer really exists. All the old models have been strictly converted via this too, so this stipulation only remains for unupdated old datasheets. The Big Mek Stompa is redone in the new book as well so it has 12 HP and d6 power fields.

SP's are gone.
Just HP's now.
That link is just to show how they convert the system of points over into the new style.
So if a model has 3 SP's, its now considered to have 9 HP's.

I like the new droppa rules, now if I can get a update for the same lifta dropps to be on the battle wagon version I'll be a happy ork.
Land raider go boom and you can move them next to infantry at least and do some more damage that way.

I played apocalypse against two Stompas recently...they were lethal. I can only imagine the big mek's stompa to be worse! Without a useless close combat weapon and all guns it's worth the extra points.
Although, I'm not sure how many firing points it has, normal Stompa has only 4 (three in the belly and one in the head). So that could curtail the usefulness of all those Loota's people are talking about

10 models can fire from its hatches according to the rules. Pretty insane but it does trade a lot of normal shooting.

Just played a game of apocalypse last weekend. The one-shot gaze hitting on a 5+, along with the lifta droppa hitting only on a 5+ made this thing pretty unremarkable for most of the game. Granted, this was slightly unlucky, but gaze missed every turn and the lifta only hit once. And if the vehicle auto-explodes, what's the point of throwing it to begin with?
The mega gattler was removed outright (which I now can't remove from the model) and it the whole thing costs more points. Am I missing something huge here?

Take SM allies to give it Prescience and buy the extra weapons for it. Only thing I can think of, twin-linking is the only way to make weapons reliable and it will have a decent amount of firepower. At this point you're neatly at Warhound costs, though, and once you pay for all the meks to give it cover and repair, it's really expensive.
However, comparing it to the uber-overpowered Warhound or any other Titan with a lot of destroyer weapons isn't really fair, I personally feel that it's costed very well.

I'm pretty sure that super-heavies still ignore all psychic powers without a strength value, so no prescience for any of them.
