Presumably he knew of the Necrons, considering he managed to best and imprison one of their star gods.

Well, no.
Suspected to be the C'Tan Void Dragon. Not-yet-confirmed-to-be the C'Tan Void Dragon. Probably-never-will-be-confirmed-nor-denied the C'Tan Void Dragon.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

In brute might, in raw power, I'm pretty sure the Nightbringer is the actual strongest.
However, I've always thought it more like Nightbringer = 6'7" 300 lb Club Bouncer while Void Dragon = Bruce Lee. Nightbringer has/had the might, Void Dragon has/had the technique and finesse with the strength to back it up.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." |

He knew, but he did not think they were the biggest threat at hand. If the HH had not happened he would have had time to sweep through all the cron tombworlds before his webway project was complete. Perhaps his webway project was going to be used to fight the necrons.
In any event, the necrons were not a threat in 30k. They werent a threat in 31k. They still arent a major threat in 40k, so he probably knew but thought he had time.

They are major threat in the Eastern sector.
And on the tournament tables for that matter.

everything is a major threat in the eastern sector, because in 40k the eastern sector is largely wild and beyond the struggling imperium's reach. 10,000 years later, on the fringe of the empires reach a force just waking up might be a bit of a threat, but im not sure that in 30k big E thought about it much'

I would assume he had an inkling about the Necrons but as for the in depth detail of what they were and what they were capable of, I'd bet he was fairly clueless.

Necrons= no
Chaos=yes. Chaos turning 1/2 of his forces against him so the imperial would start to worship as the "god emperor" is all part of the plan to become the 5th Chaos god(or 5th god of the warp). Eldar did it with Slannesh. Emperor is next.
How else do you explain him ignoring all the reports he received up to the hersey starting?

I think one problem that comes with the void dragon c'tan is the lore on the c'tan being rewritten .... look at the originally stat-line / lore (nightbringer / deciever) when they were actual star gods rather than the necrodemis (pokeball) ... did he know the c'tan were out there yes, did he know about the necrons more than likely but not that they would be a larger threat than chaos for humanity. When I read mechanicism (or however its spelled) I got the feeling that the dragon was the actual dragon not a fractured piece of one (but maybe thats just me). Remember most of the lore has eldar being on the necrons heels trying to stop tomb worlds from reawakening .... it may have been a situation where, deal with chaos then go down the food chain.

So when the dex talks about tomb worlds malfunctioning and awakening during the great crusade how does that automatically mean the emp not know about them?
I'm surprised so many people ignored my commet as it brings facts straight from the codex.
