What in your opinion is the most over-rated thing to do with warhammer 40k. This could be a rule, model, charecter, fluff, anything!

I've played against Warrior phalanx supported by Ghost Arks, still a pretty powerful list without resorting to cheesy units.

I love Forge World and the majority of my armies are comprised of mostly their kits - however I will agree that a good chunk of their releases are rather mediocre. I'd say I love probably 25% of the content they release, but that still leaves an overwhelming 75% that just misses the mark.

You have to be hypocritical in order to be loyal to the imperium. Making sense makes you ally with tau or eldar, and wanting more makes you choose chaos. Though I agree with the naming convetions... Too much wolf for your wolf to handle... As for the fluff? Space Marine anything is childish. Except Sallies, but they make too much sense being the boy scouts of the imperium (helping old ladies across the street, playing with fire, etc)

You have the most superpowerful soldiers that has ever existed in mankind's history? And they are armed with the greatest weaponry ever?! Great! How many do you got?

1 Million...? Well, there is this other army we got that has hundreds of trillions of soldiers and the beefiest tanks ever made... so... yeah... have fun being irrelevant.

I don't really get Space Marines either. On the huge scale of 40k, I get that they can be the precision strike to hit the weak point in an enemy's campaign, but they are so few in number! Look at how easily they still die on the tabletop. I have a really hard time believing that they would be able to sustain the losses they should take for reasons other than "but they're so cool!"

The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.

And the problem is that no matter what it does, people will complain it's overpowered anyway.

At the moment I am in a game of Apocalypse (day 2 is about to begin in 2 hours).
Someone is already complaining about Necrons, when they haven't even shot down a single of his models.

Furthermore they focused a Baneblade, a Shadowsword and God knows how many Heavy Weapon-teams and Artillery on my 60 Necron Warrior-blob.
Needless to say they killed around 90% of the group, but 50% got back up.
And now Necrons are 'OP' because they don't know how to 'target priority'.

Isn't that the point? If you're not using buckets to clear models from the table, you're doing it wrong. Otherwise it's just kinda-40K even more inappropriately scaled tanks/walkers.

There's a difference between "Table-Top" and fiction. If 40k SM were "fiction awesome", they would probably be like the Necromunda Space Marine. I never played it, but according to those who did, a single Space Marine would require your entire gang, armed to the teeth with the best stuff they could get their hands on, and even then it would be a hard fought battle.

For me: Necrons. No, we are not that freakin' scary, honest!
