Yes, you read that right. I'm working on an army list for an entire chapter. Yes, all 1,000+ marines. Oh, and yes, I've actually NAMED all 1,000+ marines in the chapter (yes, no duplicates) using the Roman pronomen nomen cognomen structure (hey, that's what happens when you're bored in Iraq, what can I say).

I've been playing 40K since the old Rogue Trade days, and I've always loved the fluff, so I've spent considerable time working on the fluff and organization for the chapter.

The idea behind it is that they're a Second Founding Ultramarines successor chapter that has clung to the organizational and rank structure of the original legions. I've always been a big fan of the Roman legions, so enjoy the similarity of structure and function, and have decided to use the ranks and titles of the Roman legions.

The force organization chart is easy to post, as I can output it to JPG and post that, but how do y'all suggest I post the lists themselves? I have it broken down by Chapter Praetorium, Librarius, and the various line companies in a massive Excel spreadsheet currently. Anyone know how I can post that on here?

Well, 15k points of space marines will be a start. That's a lot of marines.

Are each of the squads a full unit? Like, are all the tac squads 10 man units? Or is 5 man good enough for them? I'm not terribly familiar with codex organizations since I only play Xenos armies.

It would be fun to field this in an apoc game.

Yeah, I know it's gonna take a while, but then I've already been playing 40K since '86, so I figure I'll be playing a while longer. My main aim (medium term) is to complete the 1st Company, the chapter HQ, and the 2nd Company and elements of the support companies to give me a bit of flexibility.

Yes, all the squads will be 10 man units. The initial goal is to complete the 1st, 2nd, and 10th companies for use in Apocalypse, then eventually build more of them.

Looks Like you have your work cut out for you ..;o) ..and looks like it will be fun ..

Of course, now that I've finally gotten around to really getting dug into this, what happens, but GW decides to come out with a new SM codex... Crap.

I've got to admit I'm debating whether to halt my current progress until I can see what changes occur with the new codex. The last thing I want to do is waste miniatures because their loadout changes with the new edition in less than a month's time.

I've gotta admit, this is completely awesome!

I'd love to see a vehicle roster too. Ha!

I actually DO have a vehicle roster.

I just need to figure out how best to output about 150 pages worth of Excel spreadsheets to HTML so I can post them on here...

So, SOME folks (Jamo, I'm looking at you...) have been asking for a vehicle roster... Well, I'm working on it, but here's what I've got so far. This is the chapter HQ, cohort HQ 1&2, 1st company, and 2nd company. Let me know what you think! (Yes, I know the vehicles aren't truly to scale... and yes, I made all the vehicle outlines myself...)

Why, thank you! I noticed your signature line; do you play Carcharadons? I love the fluff for those guys, toyed with the idea of making some of them (that, and Tyberos the Red Wake is a badass miniature).

So, I finally figured out how to do the Army lists and output them from Excel (basically, print to PDF, output PDF to JPG, mess with it in Photoshop to make it match the other bits I've made so far, and voila.

Crazy, insane, way over the top,,,, I love it.

Wow speachless for both the scale of the acchvement and the scale of the work needed i stuggle to paint 10-15 men without getting the skull shivers you my good sir have a mammoth task and full kudos to you for doing it it will be impressive sight to behold!!! looking forward to seeing the massive shot of all the marines keep up the good work!!

You can increase the size of the images when you post from the Dakka gallery. Try a medium, it should make it easier to read without clicking on the image. You can select it from a drop down or just replace the "_sm" with an " _md"

Grey Knights, Uriel Ventris, and Darnath Lysander have all been declared free of the taint of Chaos by the Inquisition, so there!

Vehicle-wise, I think at most I'll end up building one company's worth of vehicles. It's just too obscenely expensive to do more, unfortunately.

I think you mean '87 that's when Rogue Trader came out... That is when I started playing, but I started with Harlequins and Eldar

I actually got my first Space Marine miniatures in December of '86, followed shortly thereafter in '87 by my first run Rogue Trader rulebook, signed by Rick Priestly.
