I've been listening to this the last few days. Some wonderful memories, down to actual specific battles or moments evoked from it.

Whats your favourite game track/soundtrack? Honorable mention to N64s Mariokart game completion sequence. Wow.

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't actually remember much when it comes to video game soundtracks. That said i got clued into the Mirror's Edge soundtrack for painting My Tau and it fits surprisingly well.

Also there's always Homeworld. Best music of any game period. Even I noticed that. I think that's the only video game I've actually cried while playing, and the music was about 75% of the reason why ("karrak is burning"...still gives me chills. Saving those cryo trays is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life!). Also to this day I instantly tense up and get nervous when I hear the Turanic Raiders theme.

They used the wrong dang mothership though...I always preferred the non canonical units.

A lot of times I pick up games in the Humble Bundles just for their soundtracks.

While I can't say this is specifically a Fallout soundtrack it does use some really good old music that has a lot of charm and content that contemporary music nowadays really lack.

Pretty much anything from Baldur's Gate (1 and 2) and Planescape: Torment. I spent so many hours of my life playing those games, that music still brings back memories and fills my heart with nostalgic joy when I hear it.

Spoiler:

Dammit, now I want to go play some more BG2 again...

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot to include the title theme from one of my favorite games of all time: Gabriel Knight.

Crysis 2 of all games has a FANTASTIC soundtrack. Most games forget that soundtracks are supposed to be memorable.

MGS3's OST is also gorgeous, all the John Barry (iirc, the James Bond guy) style brass and 60's guitar.

EDIT: Who could forget Modern Warfare 2. Every song in that is Gold.

Apart from the various versions of 'Nerevar Rising' i've never really liked any of the Elder scrolls soundtracks nothings really stood out. Same with Mass effect, 'Suicide mission' is a fantastic song but the rest of the music is forgettable. The main Theme to Uncharted is also great.

Isn't that Homeworld song called 'Adagio for the strings' or something? It's in Platoon and gave the pop DJ Tiesto a career.

Bunch of nice stuff here so far

Remastered Megaman Zero stuff. Cause "80s".

Nier.

Soundtrack of the whole OST on youtube so you can have a look through it, usually stays around the epic orchestra type stuff.

Then branches off like ghost in the shell like this one.

Bioware have some fantastic soundtracks. Both Dragon Ages and all 3 Mass Effects, for starters. I'm also a big fan of the Deus Ex:HR soundtrack, though it's shorter than I would have hoped.

But I think my favourite would have to be Mirror's Edge. There really isn't a soundscape quite like it in anything else in the gaming world.

Ya know, if I started posting musics here I wouldn't be able to stop, but I think most of my favorites are from Japan. Here's 3 from the FF series that I truly love:

FF IX - You're not alone

FF X - Zanarkand (When that Piano starts, I get chills, every damn time)

These 2 make me weep a bit, I love them so much. Such powerful songs

FF V - Clash on the Big Bridge - Best character, best battle theme, EVER!
"Enough expository banter! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men! For Gilgamesh...it is morphing time!”

This is another I love, I already heard this one far too many times, it gives me inner peace, I swear

And finally, a sample of Ar Tonelico. I bought the games because of the OST, when a game has a world where Songs = magic, you know you are in for ONE HECK of a OST! And with an entire made-up language to boot!

And so, but so many more tracks...

"Fear is freedom! Subjugation is liberation! Contradiction is truth! These are the truths of this world! Surrender to these truths, you pigs in human clothing!" - Satsuki Kiryuin, Kill la Kill
