That's kind of bog standard though. Lich and Kaya both do it better, IMO. The REALLY scary part is bringing him with a bunch of Doom Reavers and watching the entire enemy army sit there crying for a turn.

The command check shenanigans are fun, but too situational. The big money is a 16" threat (charge a patsy model 8, energizer 3, yank target 5 with Impending Doom) on a model with the Butcher's offensive statline.

I don't know about too situational, it'll definitely help push the meta in favor of more Warjacks, which is what Butcher likes to see on the table already.

And yeah, the threat range is quite fun, especially when you just charge your own Argus in the back.

Oh good lord, if you kill off one of his puppies he has a 21" threat range, with three changes in direction and a pull effect and he has opportunities to kill intervening models with flashing blade between each of those movements... And he has 12 focus on feat turn to make it all possible. Good lord, everyone is dead. He seems to be the ultimate melee assassin. The one saving grace is he has no defensive abilities outside of his ARM, so counter assassination should be possible.

Remember the command check thing is only in his melee range, so he doesn't need doom revers to trigger it, he can just walk up to any unit and they fail their terror check.

Edit: should be 19" threat range. As the pull and his reach don't stack.

We technically already knew that when Matt Wilson's blog said it sometime last year.

Well.... since I don't read everything on the internet about every game I play, and about games I started playing only in the past few months... I appreciate the info GT. Technically, we literally, do not like asinine comments, and by we I mean... humanity as a whole.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I think you need to re-read what the word asinine means. Stating that something is information that was already announced is neither stupid nor foolish.

But of course, neither your post nor that comment actually adds anything to the thread, does it?

Yes, but it does't stack with Impending Doom in terms of threat range.

Killing an argus will trigger Vengeance, letting him move an additional 3" during the Maintenance phase.

Butcher casts Energizer for 3 Focus, and moves 3".

He's now moved 6".

Butcher charges 8" (SPD 5 + 3").

So with Vengeance, Energizer and a Charge, Butcher is currently 14" up the board. He takes his charge attack, and then casts Impending Doom to pull in everything within 5" of him.

That's 19". You could then cast Flashing Blade to kill everything within 2", Feat, and then do Impending Doom and Flashing Blade a few more times.

Sure it does. He just needs to make it into melee with something on his initial 8" charge(+3" Energizer) and then he can suck stuff that's another 5" beyond that towards him.

So, you Energizer 3" forward, Charge 8", have 2" reach, kill what you charged(some screening infantry) and then Impending Doom everything else closer to you.

Nobody in their right mind is going to trigger his Vengence. unless you can safely kill the Argus from far enough away that the 3" move doesn't give him that extra range he needs.

Yeah, but you can just charge your own Argus easily enough, and you can Energizer it out of his melee range before he makes the charge attack.
