You're all a bunch of sheep but I'm a snowflake! Society doesn't understand me and is out to get me! Or to quote Foghorn Leghorn, the pandering here is "about as subtle as a hand grenade in a bowl of oatmeal".

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

After reading the wikipedia plot, this looks like someone trying to make some money off of the hunger games and doing a bad job of it(admittedly, I don't like the hunger games)

Sometimes subtlety is needed.
you should have, as I said, i distinctly saw elements of Equilibrium in that trailer
The last book I read had 851 billion casualties. Of course that was the Idiran-Culture War.

I can't see the trailer, so I've been reading the plot on Wikipedia... it's most definitely in the realm of Catcher in the Rye, The Giver, and more recently: Twilight, Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, the Matched series, the Lorien Legacies (I am Number Four), etc... It's a recent rush of YA novels where people have felt they live in a society that is constricting and goes against what they feel they believe in. It's been around forever (note the Catcher reference earlier in the thread), but ever since the massive financial success Twilight has been, these novels have been picking up steam.
Edit: While Twilight was gak, Hunger Games had a gakky ending (and a bit of a downer one if you think about it), many of these series are "essential" Because in the end the main characters come to realize that society is "working" the way it is, and that they will eventually need to fit in society lest they fall by the wayside. Things can change, but even as "different" as they feel, they will have to adapt to society more than society will have to adapt to them.

I hate to tell the people who think this is fake buuuuuut...
There isn't a question about what YA novels or films are, but how hilariously bad this looks, and how incredibly unsubtle it is. Mortal Instruments and Hunger Games aren't exactly subtle either, but they look like Ulysses in comparison.

I enjoyed the first hunger games, I'll probably enjoy the second one as well, and while I hated the third book, they will probably change the one thing I disliked about it and I'll probably enjoy it as well.
Mortal Instruments sounded like a cool idea... and then I found out it's just a giant piece of fanwank/romance story and I feel sullied that I own most of her works... Also the guy they got to play Jace... I wouldn't see that film just based on him

Sometimes teenagers dont know what is good for them.
We need to strap kids in to watch classics like Kane, Rear Window, charlie Chaplain so they know that this stuff is crap.

...but why, almighty Ahtman, is this trailer made of clips from other movies and shows? Guide us in this time of confusion!

By showing them old crap so they can compare it to the new crap?

Kane sucked, Rear Window was better with the action-y remake (still not that much better) and Chaplin was boring in most of his roles.

Because I linked to the wrong trailer it seems. The original place I saw it doesn't embed as easily, or universally, so I went to Youtube. I had no idea someone also made a crappy fan trailer.
I replaced it now with the actual trailer.

For a second I was all "what the hell, you read the first and third book but skipped the second??" and then I realized you've read the books and are referring to the movies.
The first book was okay, but I've yet to see the movie or pick up the remainder.
When I want a shot of modern fantasy these days I hit up the Dresden Files. Skin Game cannot come out soon enough. Shame the show sucked (or so I heard).
I've recently gotten into Dresden files, But I'm holding off until I fix this decrepit book cover and return it to the library (it literally fell off while I was reading it). So in the meanwhile, I'm reading through the Horus Heresy.
