It's a unicycle. The idea is cool as far as I'm concerned, even if it would probably drive worse than a regular chariot (and those things were not good war machines, ever).

OH ok that makes sense now, still doesn't make sense from a logic standpoint but it's a fantasy game so we'll call it good.

Something akin to flying chariots actually exists in real life; the towed glider. The problem with the Skycutter is only the execution: instead of drawing on gliders or kites for inspiration, they made it a boat.

I don't think I've ever been more excited about anything in my life than I am right now about the Bloodwrack Medusa. Can we talk about how awesome a miniature that is?

Like most things GW put out anymore, it has one glaring flaw that ruins the whole model: sculpted-on blood bukkake.

There's also the fact that you have to spend $75 on the shrine to get that model, so if you're not a fan of the rest of the kit (and I'm not, the statue is awesome but not $75 awesome) then that's a really expensive gorgon.

Then wait three months for the bitz dealers to get it in. It'll still be pricy (they've got to make up the cost of the bitz that won't sell), but I imagine the hag options, the medusa, and the statue will be under $25 each.

Protip: never let anyone know that you're excited about a GW release. Other people are sure to respond with everything they hate about the release. Essentially, anything less than loathing for everything GW must be stamped out. If GW found a cure for cancer, people would still hate them.

That's what I'm planning to do. The Gorgon will be totally perfect for use with my WHFB skirmish ruleset.

Actually, there's a lot I like in this release. Admittedly, I find the Hag on the Shrine a bit too 'old school Dark Elf' for me (I never likes giant hair and silly masks) but everything else looks good. I don't even have an issue with the strange set up of the Chariot!

Its the best mini of the release. The blood can just be painted as slime or the like.

Something is wrong. Usually I'm the guy who hates every GW release while everyone else gushes over them and promises to buy 5 of each. Now everyone else is complaining about these models and honestly, I like almost all of them.

Executioners - Aside from the one in the middle who looks like he has a mohawk (though I think it's something on his back), these look good to me. Only thing I'd change is I'd paint the masks the same color as the armor. Oh, and ditch the head in the champion's heads. Because that was stupid when the beastmen did it and they at least had a reason.

Chariots - I'm a big fan of chariots in general and my only complaint is that these don't look like they've been constructed with real-world craft skills. But I'll forgive it because the horse one looks badass. The Cold One chariot will look badass once those silly blades are taken off the front.

Blackguard - Once again, my only complaint is paint job, the light color lining the face gap on the helmets looks weird.

Dark Riders - Captain twin pony-tail aside, I think these look grea- oh no I saw the teeth and now I can't unsee them. Oh well. I hope this can be fixed with a file.

Warlocks(?) - I don't get what this unit is supposed to be. I don't get why they're holding their swords backwards. But aside from the horse teeth, I think these guys look solid.

Cap'n Swordleg - No. Just no.

So really, aside from some small problems that can hopefully be fixed by conversions or assembly choices, these are good models. As long as you leave out Cap'n It-was-a-good-design-while-I-was-stoned.

Really, I don't get why so many people are upset about this release. They're all great models. Now all you have to do is find them for a decent price and oh now I get it.

Just for a minute imagine, how awesome (and compatible with current fluff) it would have been to have a unit of sorceress cavalry.
Maybe some other manufacturer can fix that demand.

Interesting that they seem to be male Sorcerers - Malkeith is not normally keen on male magic users in his realm?

Anyone else think that Morathi seems less mentioned than normal - given her unatural hold over her son and his realm.

Yeah, unless they've gone back on years of fluff about Malekith's paranoia regarding the prophecy.

Also, that is weird. He usually refers to her on most major plans such as every invasion of Ulthuan to see whether the threads of fate are in his favour.

I suppose she did sepnd alot of her time and his resources plundering Lustria including enacting various pacts with Slaanesh and flouting the rules (once again) about this.

Maybe she is just not considered as reliable an advisor or she is loosing her touch in bed Also with Heleborne getting her own new model -maybe power is swinging back her way.

Interested to see what GW does this with these elements.....

Given their ward save isn't suppose to work against Mark of Slaanesh troop and demons, they could be like the old Druchii Anointed from the Cult of Slaanesh list. They are half-demons and pull their powers from that and not actual sorcerers? Speculation at this point. But with Matt Ward, he has a history of ignoring/re-writing fluff. Sometimes pulling 180 of what it originally was.

Um, how exactly are the SoC reusing Dark Eldar ideas? If you're suggesting they came from Wyches then you've got it backwards. If anything Dark Eldar Wyches were inspired by Dark Elf Witch Elves.

The Gladitorial element seems to be a major part of the new background for the Sisters as opposed to the Brides of Khaine?

Very good point. Though looking at the models, they don't seem to be "elf", so maybe they don't count. Maybe they're some manifestation of magic or something.

GW have removed Black Guard and Executioners from their online store too. And I can't find them on gifts for geeks either. Interesting...

Any news on prices yet?

I'm not seeing that. I mean, creepy, unearthly-pale magic users aren't exactly exclusive to ASoIaF. It's a pretty common trope in fantasy/fairytale.

I really hope that Mat Ward has a good explanation for male warlocks and medusas in the army.
He never gave one why Inquisition now has Xenos units or why Grey Knights do blood rituals when confronted with a Blood Daemon.

They were okay before this book. Malekith might have decreed that male magic users should be put to death because reasons--that did not mean that they did not exist nor that the other Houses did not use them.

Male casters were already back in the last book. Malekith's decree is still there and they operate underground . They are essentially rogue casters used by factions that don't want to deal with the Sorceress Covenant. AKA, non-union.

*edit* @Kanluwen, the whole Malekith Decree is tied to a prediction that a druchii male caster will overthrow and kill him.
