I could see TBone as a cyborg actually...

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."

We were saving this as a secret, but his sidekick is a cyborg wiener dog.

As opposed to all the real cyborg cops we have running around?

Ok, let me explain.

When you look at old Murphy's face, you can tell something is not entirely right with him. His skin is shiny and a bit thin, you can see the machinery and he doesn't really have any expressions on his face. New robocop looks all pudgy and fleshy, you don't see the machinery, and he's a lot more expressive.

They already attempted something fresh.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Yea that would be a nice high tech version of a warhound.

Im with Ahtman on this, I didnt hate it straight off the bat. We'll see what happens although Im not enamored at all with his bike/hovercraft. Ho hum.

I hold the original as an all time classic film though.

Is there a main bad guy in it ala Bodicker or Dick Jones? It wasnt very clear from the trailer to me.
Will they go down the Batman remake route and have a relatively generic evil organsiation bad guy for the first one and then expand into more stylised villains?

I'm thinking it was Jackie Earl Haley, who is shown doing a quickdraw on Robocop briefly in the trailer. I doubt they got him just to do a bit part.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Is there an officer Lewis equivalent in it?
Thought her character in the first was really great.

That is a good question. I have a feeling with the family playing a bigger part his wife may take that role.

There was a Cracked article about why remakes in sci-fi almost always suck, and one of the reasons was that they remove context that was important for the time and just go with the basic story, usually removing any meaning that was there. Robocop certainly was a critique of it's time and place, and that resonates, but I was trying to think of what the filmmakers could approach that would resonate with our time, and the answer seems somewhat obvious: drones. I am not saying they will use the film to address the subject of dehumanizing violence with machines, but it is certainly a possibility, especially with the trailer showing a drone right up front and all. I suppose the problem would be that it just says "oh no, drones are bad" instead of embracing it and making a satire that is far more interesting to watch. Of course, that could all just be in my head.

... hmm... looks a bit better.

But still somewhat unnecessary

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I saw the trailer at the IMax (watched Ender's Game). It didn't suck, but I'm not interested in this one. "Dead or Alive, you're coming with me." I did like that line. Also good to see Michael Keaton working again!

Does seem they are going the 'drones bad' route, but sadly without being a satire and more of a straight up cautionary tale.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
