Do we know how big the trucks will be asi have some orks who'd like them if they are big enough.

Can't wait to hit 400k as that looks like a good one.

The truck is approximately 120mm long and 50-60mm wide. It's designed so that there is space to fit 5-6 miniatures on the back

So about 15mm smaller than a trukk in each direction. Few spikes on the front and some panels on the sides would sort that out, going to get a few. Ta!

It definitely looks like a good kitbash target for ork players.

Not really, the gear/weapons are wrong and the poses are mediocre. These will be okay for a board game, or to let my daughter play with/paint. Between Empress and Eureka I can get (actually have) much, MUCH nicer US troops in better gear/weapons choices. I saw the 'Paint 'em Black' for SWAT suggestion, and again, there are a lot nicer SWAT figs out there. These are okay, fit the cartoonish theme of the game, but they sure do not excite me at all.

Now, if they can churn out a decent plastic M-ATV or accurate Stryker ICV in plastic I'll be pretty happy.

I'm pretty stoked for the US Soldiers. I took a look at Empress and Eureka. The models are alright looking, but sort of blocky and the proportions don't seem as good. That and the price per model is much higher. $15 for 9 instead of 7.5pounds for 4. Although Empress does have some pretty nice tank and vehicles.

I'm not to worried about the poses/gear. Since they're plastic, they out to be a lot easier alter and remodel then metal models.

I may have gone completely off the deep end, but I'm going to be picking up around 100 of the Soldiers, and converting them into modern looking IG.

Here's hoping for more human vehicular love.

I dunno, I'm ambivalent on these trucks. Why can't they just add more civilians, make a civilian sprue, or double-up on the amount or martians and US troops you get? It only costs like fifty cents to make these sprues...

Looking for the Empire spearmen from the Warhammer sixth edition box set (empire vs orcs) Must be unpainted and in good condition. Also looking for MIB Empire State Troops boxes.

Looking for Battle for Macragge and Black Reach Tactical squads, unpainted and unassembled.

I'm pretty stoked for the trucks. I'm thinking about mounting some AA guns on them for counts as Hydras. Failing that, they can always stand in for terrain in an Urban game.

The BotB level has certainly pushed this on over the weekend it will be interesting to see if there's a bit of a spike in a little under 11 hours when it closes - nothing like the end of a deal to focus the mind (after that you'll have to rely on drop outs if you want that deal).

On Kickstarter it used to be possible to reduce the number of total slots in a pledge level to 1, everyone who had a spot doesn't lose it but if they drop out the place doesn't become available, not sure if you can still do that though.

AFAIK they'll just reduce the slots in BotB to the amount taken, yeah.

no-one updating this?

Last update is pretty awesome...

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/mars-attacks-the-miniatures-game/posts/627794

Long and short of it is

If we hit this goal we will fund the new Mars Attacks: Escalation Expansion set, including a brand new rulebook with more scenarios and unit types, more ruined scenery, additional mats, 6 Science Division Grunts, and 6 Novas Vira Militia, and make it available as a Core Add-on for just $50! Not only that, but your troops are going to need some support, so the set also includes a Martian Attack Saucer AND a Patriot Silverback DX500 Truck as well!

We will also upgrade all Pledges of Operation: Earth and up with a digital version of the new Mars Attacks: Escalation Rulebook, meaning you get all of the rules and scenarios for the Science Division, Novas Vira and multi-mat games.

double-up on the amount or martians

they did, started with 8, now got 20.

I was going to go for Escalation when it funded, but then noticed it was extra paper mats. I really want an add on to make a 4x4 rubber mat table with a few extra terrain sprues with some sort of bundle price!

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Wonder if they will be able to do another Secret Weapon table as they did for Deadzone. I think the Secret Weapon KS is still on track to be fulfilled by April, so there is. Time. I guess the Deadzone or Urban city tiles would work well though.

I think I saw them say something about a discount on multiple rubber mats as an add-on, it just doesn't exist yet. They did it for Deadzone, I don't see why it won't become a thing now. Especially now that you would want 4 for the expansion.

With new rules, a truck, saucer, two 6 man squads... the expansion already seems worth $50, and its supposed to get fattened up by future stretch goals. Exciting

It's definitely worth it. Now all I'm thinking about is that my $125 for add ons might not be enough. I don't know if I should bump to the $300 level, or keep my early bird $140...

Escalation expansion is really nice, looks like there's around $100 worth of stuff for $50 in there, and a nice selection of useful stuff... more terrain and an elite squad and vehicle for both sides. Probably the best thing you can get with $50 credit if you're just in for a "will of man" pledge.

It's about time they started having some add-ons that are actually worth getting.. the "have to buy mat and cards you don't want to get the KS exclusive mini you do want" bundle was a bit crap, but escalation is great.

Also, upgrades to the boxed game are almost done now.

Future freebies will be added to pledge levels, not the boxed game.

At the moment there's only one freebie included in the pledge levels (the accessory sprue), so the value there is about to kick in.

400k in the first week or so for this is pretty cool... still 4 weeks to go!

Woo! I've wormed my way down from the $146 early bird to the $141 one level at a time, which means 10 bucks in savings on my double level. Now to spend my bonus on saucers, trucks, or terrain... it's all so delicious, and I must have one of those escalation sets... Mantic, why do you hate my wallet?

I have to admit, between this and my rather absurd Deadzone pledge, my hobby budget has basically become a Mantic Kickstarter budget.
Plus, all I had to do was mention Mars Attacks and "quick rules" to my mates and suddenly they're interested in something other than D&D/Pathfinder. Can't wait for this one (even if it's not going to be in hands until late next year, in all likelyhood).

The value with this KS really does lie with the add-ons, and the stacked discount on top of a discount.

For example, roughly $100 worth of stuff in the $50 escalation bundle:

$20 - Saucer
$20 - Truck
$20 (?) - Martian scientists
$20 (?) - Novas Vira militia
$12.50 - Terrain
$7.50 (?) - Mats, rulebook

So, 50% discount, stacked on top of the 25% discount you already get from either invaders or BotB comes to 62.5% discount off RRP total. Plus free shipping.

Really good deal once you run the maths, I don't think discount webstores are going to come close to competing with this as long as you stick to the big bundles (and keep asking mantic for more of them!).

And this is before Mantic has even really started adding free stuff to pledge levels. Now that the core boxed game is almost done, there's a lot more of that to come.

EDIT: $400k!

Oh ho, it looks like mantic is still awake and will be providing an update soonly

Neat, next stretch is to make the art on basically everything better and more Mars Attacksy, and then we get a saucer upgrade (free in all variations of the saucer) to have optional freeze rays and unit commander! And then there's that crazy looking silhouette with another big Gatling laser thing, but he looks more modern... Novas Vira commander?

Definitely a Novas Vira guy, he has the funky shades.

Pretty cool update, gives us a good idea about what the next $100k worth of goals is going to look like.

This game looks amazing....

I didn't want to spend a ton and was only in on a $141 pledge, but had to upgrade to $300 because they are making too many cool new things!!!

I hope one of the wrecked cars is an old 70's trans am, that would be too cool.

One question though, are there going to be any KS exclusive minis or just cheaper KS prices like WWX?

How does one double up on a pledge? It'd be pretty solid on my Early Bird $140...

Just double or triple the amount you are pledging but don't change your pledge level. I've tripled the $141 level as that works out to better value for me.

Is there just a double down button in the survey they send out?

Yep, their surveys will handle it fine, just keep your $140 pledge selected but up the amount to $280 if you want to double up.

Make a second account and snag the $300 while keeping your early bird. Then you have until the last day to decide which one to drop. Or keep both

Bit the bullet with a WoM early bird 2, since those trucks are pretty cool.

Trying to decide if it's worth getting the 2 comic sets as well.

Seriously?

This is blocky?

And these are better?

Everyone has different tastes, but the Mantic sculpts are not better. When you add in lack of the correct gear and weapons you need for real organizations (real squad has 2 SAWs, M240s at platoon level, and so on) the Mantic ones may make nice Imperial Guard for you, but they are NOT going to be good US Army or Marines compared to their competition. Again, okay for a board game, they really don't cut it as mre than cartoonish versions of US troops.
