I was hoping to find some sniper miniatures and was wondering if anyone knew some good ones. My plan is to replace the heads with gas mask and makes ghillie suits for them. Any help is appreciated. Sorry if this is the wrong place.
What army are you looking to do these for? SM Scouts seem like a good fit, replacing the heads with 3rd party ones suiting your desires and painting/converting the camo on them. Sorry if you've come up with this and discarded it already, just thought that I'd give my $0.02 on this.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Hrumm...first .45 thing that jumps to mind with a recoil compensator is the Thompson submachine gun, but it looks radically different to the vector, and it needed the recoil compensator to become useable rather than wildly innacurate, it didn't cut it out entirely.
Spoiler:
But we are getting well off topic here ha

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
These are probably more heavily armoured than you were looking for, but can't hurt to mention them. How about these Eisenkern Stormtroopers OP? They come with their own gasmask.
There's also Ada from the same Dreamforge range who is a tank hunter/sniper. No gas mask though.

For making ghillie suits, try using medical gauze with pvc glue. I'm using this technique with my whole IG army and I think it looks pretty good. You could also mix in small bits of oregano leaves or stuff like that to give additional texture.

What someone online on the other side of the world that you've never met says should never deter you from taking a unit for being either weak or OP. The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.
Thank you very much as I'll probably go with the hasslefree one

Thank you as I'm planning to use this method.
And thanks to everyone else for taking time out of their day to help me.
The hasslefree ones can be put together with whatever heads/backpack you want as well, so you aren't restricted to balaclava man and the same backpack for every model. I found their site easy to use when I was putting together a shotgun guy for another game. And they include lollies with their packages. Enjoy.

How come in RL, rifle magazines curve forward, not backward along the rifle's length?
The casing on most rifle ammunition is a wider at its base than the rest of the bullet. Thus when stacked together pointing forward the rear of a magazine needs more room for the cartridges, so to allow a smoother feed most magazines are curved to compensate for the wider rear portion of each round.
Contemporary rifle rounds are tapered from back to front (being more of a cone shape than a cyclinder). While you can get straight box magazines for the bullets, if you want to put more ammunition into a given volume, the curved "banana" magazine is used.

BTW Where are those sniper bits from?
Heads are from Pig Iron and rifles from Hasslefree.
Regarding magazines, interesting variants are the circular magazine for the WW2 Lewis gun, the helical mag from the Calico smg and the horizontal box from the P90. A definate weird thing is also the magazine and loading mechanism from the G11 but it was never a production weapon.

its all in the shape of the bullets - different rounds stack differently and a magazine needs to be shaped accordingly, see the spoiler for some examples
Spoiler:
7.62 Soviet
.303 British
9mm (same shape as the Vector's .45 round)
as for the sniper question, you can always put a scope and long barrel on a lasgun, like so.
They are from the Urban War range, Viridian faction.

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!
