You're welcome.
I'm gonna go with Chaos on this one. Eldar can't reliably deal with those 2 heldrakes.

I voted "down to the wire" but thought eldar would take it because they are in the current awesome sauce, how are you planning on adapting the your eldar to handle some hell turkeys?

Some Dark Reapers and of course a Quad Gun (Reaper Exarch on the Quad Gun).

Haha, agreed. That's what makes the game a challenge, though!

Nice to see the CSM doing well.
Unlucky dice rolls however, your dice guardian angel must have been on holiday.

Great batrep! Shame about the poor rolls and losing those Spiders in first turn.
You should almost never deep strike the Spiders, especially against an army such as this. You needed to keep them out of Heldrake range as they are your primary source of anti-air, with Prescience and kept them on board Turn1, hiding behind some terrain. The Scorpions did nothing as well, but then again not much they could've done in this matchup.
And one thing to note for future games is that you can't flatout on the turn you regroup, you can only move 3" and snapshot.

It is usually not! Automatically Appended Next Post: Araenion wrote:Great batrep! Shame about the poor rolls and losing those Spiders in first turn.

Noted! I was trying to deep strike them near the CSM hiding behind the objective but scattered 10 or 11 inches the opposite way. Using battle focus, I was hoping to stay out of the Heldrake's range, but that did not happen.
Also, yea, forgot about that last part.

It wouldn't have made a difference either way, since that jetbike was shot down anyway.
And yes, your tactic wasn't bad either, but deep strike is generally very random and risky, especially with large squads(a bit less when you can spread out afterwards). What I usually do is deploy them on board in every deployment type except Vanguard Strike, where I often reserve them normally.
I do sometimes deep strike them as well, but usually it's 5-man squad taken as a filler in my list. 95 points dropping somewhere and shooting something important, then run and 2d6 assault move behind some ruins and/or area terrain. That means my opponent has to go deal with them, otherwise they'll just keep showing up to sting him in the rear. A full 10-man squad is both too expensive and too large for such a risky tactic.

I love to deep strike when it's a game winning move. Sometimes it's good to take a risk.

I loved the report, the layout and format, pictures were good quality. A great read.
That chaos player must of sacrificed thousands of poor souls to the dice gods before that battle.

Thank you! Many more to come (as I convert them and play more).
And yea, haha. The Chaos player was mightily pleased with the results.

This is a perfect example of why the Eldar codex is in a whole different league than CSM.
Even with a perfect combo of hot dice/ crappy dice they barely managed to eke out a win.

True. We'll see how the rematch goes as the CSM player has improved the list a bit as well!

The Eldar have a beautiful list. Well balanced, full squads, just great. I love it. The Chaos also have a solid/brutal set-up. 2 heldrakes will each put some hurt on before re-rolls take them down. At the same time the CSM are weak in the troops section. Even with the bloodletters they are mainly non-power armored scoring units spread across only a few groups. Eldar can pour the fire on and I don't doubt the spiders and guardians can handle the gribblies. Wraithknight and ghosts can handle the few termies/marines/oblits. I voted down to the wire but I'm feeling Eldar on this one.

Thanks BigJP! I am big into all comer, non-spammy, non-point and click lists. I like having to play a strategy, rather than just spamming something overpowered. You were mostly right here, as it did come down to the wire.
