Okay, so here's a thing..
I've been getting all excited about Apocalypse and the new codex coming out at some time and fancied going through my inventory.
I knew that there were some repairs and touch ups to do as well as some basing to finish.
I'd cherry picked smaller armies from it, lent some bits out and added new bits so I had no idea where anything was. I had to open at least a dozen or so boxes to find all of this lot but got there in the end. Phew.
I've still got a handfull of stuff to finish before a new book and models come out so i'm glad that it's looking like Niduary now.
On the desk are two more pyrovores, 3 Plasmafexes, a dozen or so flying ripper bases, a dozen Shrikes and a Swarmlord.

So, i'm sorry if you've seen these guys before (they've been around the block a bit) but there is some new stuff in there and some close ups of some of the newer guys.

Thanks for looking guys and any comment crits, gallery votes or suggestions on where to go next are more than welcome.
Cheers.

Cheers, for that. I'm not a fan of really bright tyranids I feel that these hit the nail part way between realistic and fun , without being too cartoony or grimdark.
They look pretty ace on a jungle/woodland themed board but dont photograph so well as they kinda blend in a bit too well. It was only a month or so ago that I was at a tournament and had left some stealers on the previous jungle board! I didn't notice until it was too late and neither did the guys playing on that board. I should have been able to grab a few VPs waiting til the time was right to strike!

UnCool Villain wrote:It is an impressive amount of painted Tyranids.

It certainly is. I hope they only bring out a few new toys with the new Codex and that the majority of my builds are still viable or even legal!!!

I'm a little ashamed that i've got such a huge army, given the money and time i've spent on it. Should have been spent on something more 'practical'

That's absolutely what i'm hoping for too. If anyone has got a fairly nicely painted army over 10K that want s friendly White Dwarf list gaming and fancies a weekend boozing and warhammering in Bristol then drop me a PM and we'll see if we can hook up.

Here's a few links to some bits that my regular opponent and I have done in the past................

Battrep http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/378280.page

We've just started running an escalation type campaign that's a bit of a slow burn, we can both only fit in small games at the moment for various reasons, but we'll be sure to post progress as it happens....Feel free to head on over there and chuck some suggestions our way, it's sleepy over in the Campaigns Forum!
CAMPAIGN LINK:: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/537842.page

There's also a chance that we can get a bit of time off the clock to do a big game sometime in the nearer future. Stay tuned!!

And whilst i'm busy doing ugly links and plugs here's some to our blogs, it's always nice to head back and find a new comment there so head on over.

Cheers, I'm not huge on converting, or even modeling for that matter. A bit of me wishes I was able to buy certain GW models (mainly troops) in a flat black, prebased, flashless, assembled form. Yeah, I grew up through the single piece model era. The problem is that i'm not a huge fan of doubles, especially when it's a big, dynamicaly posed model like the trygon. It forces my hand a little.
RandyMcStab wrote:Those pics look great, nice to see your new stuff too, there's so much big stuff all sense of scale disappears. Thanks for the plug too!

Cheers, It's nice for it to be seen. I know what you mean about scale, i'm currently smashing out 3 carnifex like they were gaunts, when I put them on the table with the others they just disappear, do they have drugs/programs that you can get on to stop this happening? As far as plugs go, you're welcome, just buy me a pint when wargaming gets as big as football and you sell your Dakka profile.
neal1975 wrote:I really like these, they have a great natural, organic color pallete to them. sort of insect/earthy/reptillian tones.awesome scenery too!I hope you keep growing this army!

Praise indeed. I love how your stuff is turning out, superb detail and great quality,.
I'd like to change the style and quality of these models but i'm too far in now, anything else would stick out like a sore thumb and ruin the look en masse. I can just turn my brain off and churn out the paint at this stage. I've got other projects where I can show a little more skill and challenge myself.
I'm glad you like the terrain, it's a cinch really, just a bit messy. I plan to revisit all the bits there and pick out some details, add washes and stuff. I also need some objectives, perhaps get Randy involved on painting a few bits in his scheme. Last stand guardsmen, downed officers/tanks spring to mind. (Ha, Ha, he thought he'd finished wih his guard army!)

That'd be ace for some of the bigger games, or even as a small piece of themed terrain, next to which we place an objective. First thing that popped into my head is: Use the, now stranded, pilot as 'The Relic'. He's found some interesting sample/node/baby queen alien that seems to contain the secret to the Hivemind or somesuch. The humans want to study it closer, the Nids want it back. It'd be more evocative than 'Battle for the Poker Chip' anyway.
I'd probably want that guy from the Macragge boxed set as the pilot if anyone has one spare?

Thanks, I think?. Dirty how? If your talking about army composition then it's anything but dirty! It's just a bit of everything really. If you mean earthy colours then cheers, that's kinda what I was going for. If you mean it could do with a dust, it's a fair cop. If you mean that the paint is sloppy and turgid then .
ergotoxin wrote:That's a really impressive army, and terrain too! I wonder, what have you used for the water effect on some of the craters?

Thanks, I used Vallejo's Still Water iirc but i've found Woodland Scenics' Realistic Water is just as good. Can't remember which is cheaper i't was a while since i've bought any.
