Definitely looks good. I like the added lettering.

He's going to look awesome once he's dipped. Right now he looks nice and clean.

The fatigues on the Stormtrooper are a base of Chardon Granite, which was this really dark muddy green/grey/brown color GW put out when they first released the foundation paints. It is seriously one of my favorite colors of all time. Its highlighted with some darkened Khemri Brown.

Decals definitely help spice up the TAGs. The Sphinx though is so small, it's hard to find a space large enough to fit decals.

I'm going to have to see if I can find something similar to those colors CC. They look really good.

Now, this is something I've had sitting around for a while. Back when I first started getting back into this hobby, I was going to build a more or less game legal Chaos Marine army, the Plague Dogs. One thing I was going to add to them was going to be actual Plague Dogs which would be proxies for Fenrisian Wolves. That didn't actually pan out and now I don't really care about making a 40k legal army. But, I will be using this guy for a Song of Blades and Heroes game this weekend.

You'll notice a few unfinished details on him. That's because this guy was a rush job I somehow managed to do in under an hour.

Here he is with the rest of the warband I'll be running.

I wish I could post while I'm at work. Sadly, that isn't possible.

The heads on my Plage Dogs are from Maxmini.

I think I agree with you. There's a few already in my gallery, but I've been thinking about taking some more detailed shots of the guys that I've made. I'm house sitting again (again) this weekend, but I think I can manage to start taking more photos once I get back.

I will take my camera with me though. Hopefully I can get some pics of the game this weekend and (gasp) maybe even do a Batrep with photos.

Okay, I just got back from my brother's place. We had two Song of Blades and Heroes battles and one round of Dwarf King's Hold. It's kind of late now, so the batrep is going to have to wait until I have more time. Let's just say though that while I did fine against my nephew, Highlord Tamburlaine's snakemen are a force to be reckoned with. Oh, and I wont that game of Dwarf King's Hold, so at least I went out with a win.

While I didn't document the battle against my nephew, I did document the one against Tamburlaine and I did manage to snag a few photos, too. You'll have to wait until tomorrow for that though. Until then, perhaps THE DRAGON KING can whet your appetite.

I can't wait.

Though I don't care what my brother's handle is, I wouldn't call him Highlord anything.

You would if you met my reptiles.

That dragon is truly awesome. I think he was a gourd of some sort originally.

He's my made in Mexico Darklands proxy for Angrislaug.

Don't forget that second Dwarf King's Hold game, that was fun! It was the second scenario from the original game, where the necromancer loses a unit every turn. We literally fought each other to the very last dice roll, with every figure or piles of bones gone by that point. The entire game came down to one single dice roll. Haven't had that happen in quite some time.

I can also attest that those Plague Dogs are pretty cool looking.

(I also secretly went and slightly moved two figures he had on display at our parents' house. I wonder if he can figure out which ?)

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

You moved stuff? Honestly, I didn't notice. I just grabbed a bunch of guys and dipped them, too. So, whatever you did, it's been undone now.

Yeah, your snakes were pretty nasty. But they fared way better than your lizards did. I suppose that's to be expected though when a bunch of filthy xenos barbarians with pointy sticks try to take on my oozing, dripping, highly poisonous supermen who're carrying guns.

Eventually I'll get around to taking some decent pics of the Plague Dogs that were involved in the battle, and then I'll get that batrep up.

Until then, I finally got to start on my Blood Pact guys.

Lighting's bad since I took these on my work table in front of a piece of white paper. Ghetto, I know. Hopefully these guys will fare a bit better in combat than the Plague Dogs did (probably not).

Blood Pack you say?

Spoiler:

Oh right... Blood PACT. My bad.

Cool conversions so far. We get to see the Sphinx dipped anytime soon? I'm anxious to see how that turned out!

He got dipped Sunday night. I'll be dull coating him tonight after work. Hopefully, I'll have him based and finished pretty soon.

GrimDork wrote:Hmm, those are pretty gnarly. From where do they hail?

Fluff-wise or parts-wise? As far as parts go, the torso, head, and legs are all Maxmini, and the arms are Victoria Miniatures. Fluff-wise, they're from the Gaunt's Ghosts series of 40k novels.

Alright folks, I've got a bit of a photo dump for you tonight. I got my dipped figures dull coated and based. They're all done. Among those finished are my Combined Army and my Nomads. Nomads to come at a later date. For now, Combined Army! Oh, and remember, these are all nice big pictures, so if you click on them, you'll be bale to zoom in.

First up, my HMG Sogarat is all finished.

Lookin' like a boss.

Next is my second TAG, The Shasvastii Special Armored Dvision TAG, the Sphinx!

So far, here's all of my Combined Army together (minus Blue Bomber Charontid)

And in an urban setting.

I also got my Blood Pact test figure finished. I'll probably add some more gear to the other guys.

Now then, I did manage to take those pictures of the Plague Dogs who participated in Saturday's battles. You've already seen the wolf, so I don't need to repost him. However, here we have some much more detailed pics of the guys themselves. Now, in order to better distinguish my units when I'm activating them, rather than they "this guy" or "the dude over here," I tend to give my troops nicknames based around some physical characteristic of the figure. As a result, they don't get the most dignified names.

First we have Horney Toe!

He get's his name due to the fact that he has a horn coming out of his left foot.

Here's Flyguy, whose name came about due to the GIANT FETHING FLY on his shoulder.

Running Man, because he's running.

Shieldman, because he's got a shield.

and last, but definitely not lease, MAGNOR!

Yes, MAGNOR! must always be in caps and have an exclamation point. Tamburlaine actually named him. I was just calling him Magnet Man, like he's some kind of Megaman enemy, but I think MAGNOR! is a lot better. He got his name due to the fact that he's the only Plague Dog I made that was fully magnetized. I'd had such great plans, to make these guys all modular and stuff. That didn't happen. So, he can move his arms around a lot, but he can't swap them out. He can swap guns though, as can several other guys.

This is a pretty easy effect to do if you don't want to spend a lot of time on OSL effects. Really, you just need some Vallejo Fluo paints. Apply a layer to wherever you want the light to be. Add a dab of white. Then apply another layer and you're done. The effect generally looks nice and bright and stands out very well.

Hell yeah, I winder if they have a set I'll have to research it. I'm pretty much painting tabletop even for infinity so something likethat sounds stellar.

Like I mentioned in the Infinity showcase thread, the stuff is real easy to use. Just apply the first layer of the fluo paint over wherever you want to put it. Once dry, add a dab of white paint. Follow that up with another layer of the fluo paint and you're done. The stuff has an odd consistency though. My green and yellow are both very thin, almost to the point of feeling like a slightly thicker wash. Meanwhile, my red is really thick, but applies thin. It's weird, I've never had a paint act like my fluo red before. The stuff applies with a fair bit of transparency though, so you'll get whatever color is underneath it showing through, which is how you get a kind of OSL look to it.

I'm having a bit of a quandry. My bank sent me a $50 prepaid card and I'm not sure what to use it on. My FLGS has a 10 man, metal Vostroyan box for $35. But, I'd also like to get a Maghariba Guard now that I know the current model is going to wind up being discontinued. Those run about $41 or so. Then, I remembered about Zandris Miniatures. I'd like to get some of their not-TAGs and with shipping, a single one of those will run me about $25. What should I get?

The not-tachicoma? Never have I seen the not tags to have a good way of commenting upon them.

On a tangent I think you are going to be partially responsible for me playing CA some day. I'm hooked on that Sphinx and I'm digging Shasvastii in general after my L2P gencon event. My Skiavoros failed even with his plasma rifle (more like plasma grenade cannon), but my spitfire gwailos did crazy well with his mobile cover and looking at them the shasvastii are really growing on me.

Vostroyans are kind of cool I guess, the guard and tags sound more fun to paint to me personally.

Thanks Waaazag. They're fun to do. I'm not so into the 40k stuff these days, but those Blood Pact were especially fun to do. I kind of want to make some more.

@Grimdork - How many times have I been a bad influence on you now? Shasvastii are pretty cool and despite their willowy build, they can be pretty hardcore and just as nasty to go up against as the Morats. The Sphinx is a neat little TAG. I just wish it were bigger. But, I've been digging it a lot too now that I've finished it.

This, btw, is the Zandris not-TAG I'm thinking about getting.

But, there's also his newest, the Satria which is looking pretty neat, too.

The Satria is basically an upgraded sculpt of the older, and not as good looking Bouncer.

I'm thinking I may skip the Vostroyan box and just use the leftover money on the card to grab one of the Vostroyan singles the FLGS has.
