Good work on the Stuntbot, is that "as sold" or is there a little conversion work? Weird how companies sell models without something as simple as a rear view of the miniature.

I am sold on the Republican Grenadiers too, I love the amount of minis that I have no idea about in your blog Barzam.

Thanks Thraxas.

The Stuntbot is "as sold." I did absolutely no conversion work on it.

Glad you like the Grenadiers. Are you going to back Anvil's current Kickstarter? There's even more cool looking stuff in there.

Too many people around here only post 40k stuff, so you kind of start to forget just how much funky stuff is out there when all you see is orks and Space Marines all the time. If Tamburlaine ever gets around to posting some pics of his stuff, he's got some weird minis in his collection.

I haven't been around here for a little while though. I've been Lurking while at work, but I can't post from there. I've also been trying to get some Destiny in before my Xbox Live expired. So, that hasn't left a lot of room for painting. It ended last night though, so back to painting for me!

I picked up another Steel Legion guy from the local shop over the weekend. Almost bought a full 10 man set. It was $35, which seems like a good deal to me, especially for GW. But, I had other stuff to get and I'm looking to get a smart phone finally, so I had to save some money. Instead, I just bought their lone plasma gunner.

He's already been recruited to hang out with my other Weird War Germans. I figure I can use him as a falschirmjager with an experimental rifle or flamer or something.

I've kind of been stressing about doing the camo on his jacket. I wanted something that looked properly German, but I was afraid I'd screw it up. I've got an officer from my set of SOTR riflemen that I've redone 3 times now (soon to be 4) because I couldn't get the camo right. Thankfully, I found a very simple way to do splinter camo that works surprisingly well.

Plasma dude looks solid.

That anvil kickstarter looks interesting but there's just something off to me about the aesthetic. Everyone looks... I dunno it's not really short... compact maybe?

The Anvil guys look fine in person. The odd short look is due to the heroic proportions.

Got a bit of work on on my Tiger Soldier. Hopefully a combination of dip and the rifle covering his chest will hide most of my poor blending.

*sigh* White is such a hard color to work with. A minor issue I had with this particular figure is that he has a mold line the ran right through his left eye and kind of destroyed the eye details entirely. I had to re-cut the eye socket in, so the left side of his face looks a little rough. It also seems that you really can't make out pretty much any detail on this guy's face in my pics, either.

I had sent in the missing parts form to CB last week regarding the missing HMG, but I've yet to hear anything from them about it. So, his buddy is going to have to sit around a bit longer.

Solid work on the Plasma gun uniform, very nice!

Infinity guy looks cool too, I have so few of them. I find I have the most trouble with white and yellow armor/uniforms

Yeah white is kind of brutal if you try to do it 'right'. I did 20 or 30 corporation marines with white fatigues painting white, then thick blackwash and layering it back up... nasty business and only moderately effective.

I think the chest plates look fine though on this guy.

Well, here's something that isn't quite typical for me. I've kind of been flip-flopping about getting some Deep Wars stuff. I like the concept, and most of the designs. The only thing I'm not actually all that hot on is the steampunk setting. Still, this is a game that lets you basically field a force made out of Big Daddys.

What finally made me pull the trigger was that someone was selling an already assembled and (surprisingly decently) primed Fortune Hunters Deluxe Starter Set. It had no bids on it and it was only about $15 with shipping and everything. I bid, I won, I got my starter set. I was going to start working on another retro robot for my dad tonight, but then I realized that I was missing some things I needed, so that project gets to wait a little bit longer. Instead, I started on my fortune hunters. In about an hour of work, here's what I wound up with.

These two are still in the process of being painted. The big guy on the left, the Heavy Support Trooper is closer to being finished. Just needs some hoses touched up along with the blowtorch and he himself is done. Then it's just some base detailing. I based his color scheme somewhat on Subject Delta from Bioshock 2, which I'm sure his sculpt was based on to begin with. His armor looks really nice in person with a subtle shift from straight silver to blueish silver that the photo doesn't quite capture all that well.

The guy on the right is the Tactical Dive Soldier. In his case, I was going for a look similar to his card art. I think I pulled it off rather well, actually. I still have more work to do on him. mostly his rifle and follow that up with the basing. If I should pick up some more of this particular unit in the future, I think I'll try going for a color scheme closer to the Heavy Support Soldier's. I really like how he'd come out.

Once I get them dipped, they'll both also be receiving some fluo paint on their visors and dials and whatnot.

Those look damn good for the time invested so far, kind of neat models. I don't really jive with steampunk either but the big daddy aspect makes it a little better

Thanks. The only ones that are overtly Steampunk at least are the Fortune Hunters. The rest of Deepwars are all over the place in terms of design. Dark Mariners look like full on fantasy monsters, with most of the figures having a vaguely Roman look to them, the Scaly Horde are either made up of sci-fi looking bugmen and generic fantasy lizardmen, and the Ancients of Atalan are full on sci-fi spaceman looking guys.

You forgot the Axibalan Empire, which consists of hoochie warrior women and animal people, all vaguely Meso- American inspired, The Order of Yosoth, who are all the undead/ demon summoning evil cultists/ mad scientist types, and The Sunless Kingdom, which has the tribal amphibians and bugs running around with giant animals and monsters.

Typing all that up, yeah, it's thematically all over the place.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yeah, but those ones are all Shadowsea. The only faction out of Shadowsea I'd run would be the Amazons. But, I don't really want to paint skin or faces, so I think I'll be passing on them.

Over the weekend, I lucked out and chanced upon an IG Commissar at the FLGS. I'd actually been wanting a Commissar for some time, but never bought one due to the fact that they're all Finecast or just plain expensive. Plus, I'm not really a fan of the new plastic one. Luckily though, the one I found was not only their last metal one, but he's actually the one I really liked.

The dude is such a boss, he's not even in a combat pose. There's not a lot of Imperial Guard figures that aren't in combat poses, so that makes this guy kind of unique.

That is kind of awesome, he would look great squished into the center of a blog. Kind of cool to see one without the pistol at the ready to execute a guardsman, kind of makes it look like your unit is made of tougher stuff than standard

I don't get why that particular Commissar figure isn't more popular. I guess it probably is because he isn't posed executing his troops.

Couple more WIP shots. Combi Rifle Tiger Soldier is pretty much done now,

I got an email from CB yesterday confirming that they will indeed replace the missing soon-to-be-obsolete HMG the other guy had.

Speaking of Infinity, I got my shipping notice of Operation Ice Storm and preordered the N3 rulebook.

And here's the robot queen I'm making for my dad, Queen Mechanika. She'll be leading his retro robots to glory.

Got the base coats on my Zuyong Invincible. He's a neat looking figure. I really like him. Can't wait for the chance to buy a whole boxed set of them.

He's also fairly chunky, dwarfing the Shang Ji and other infantry units. his chunkiness is almost on par with the old Janissary.

All looking great! Good find on the old Commissar reading from the IG Uplifting Primer.

New HI dude is pretty chunky indeed! Fun to paint big chunky models sometimes though, especially with how spindly some of the other infinity models can get.

One really nice thing about the Zuyong & his chunkiness is that he was actually easier to assemble. He had some nice big square pegs for his arms that left very little wiggle room. For once, I had no issues with the arms sliding around before the glue set. I hope that the OI figures go together just as easily.

Fantastic job with the Invincible there Barzam.

Deep Wars stuff looks very good as well. Are you planning on having a go at the game? The setting certainly looks very intriguing.

Thanks. Not sure yet which dip to use on him. I'll have to do touch-up either way.

I would llike to eventually play Deepwars. I have the quickstart rules, but haven't actually looked at them yet. I'm not about to start playing though until all of my guys are painted. And that includes the Recon Trooper, who is probably my least favorite sculpt. And yet, for some reason I've got two of the Recon Troopers.

I wasn't happy with the first paintjob I gave this guy, but I think this one turned out pretty well.

He's a USCR Medic from the game MERCS. If you like Russians with big, chunky power armor, MERCS is for you! Unfortunately, this is the second figure I've gotten from them that didn't have the best casting. His left leg had this weird pitted texture to it that I mostly managed to shave off while his abdomen just plain didn't cast up that well. The details there were very soft. Thankfully, you can't really tell either problem exists looking at him now.

He fits in nicely with my other green army men, too.

I even tried to put some effort into highlighting it. Not sure how good I did, but it looks better than my usual attempts.

Also, got my Operation Ice Storm today, which I'll be splitting with my cousin. Also received an FRP order which had some Weird War Germans, a post apocalyptic survivor, and a monster that's an amalgamation of bones. Should be fun painting times ahead for me!

I also went and ordered the out of production Janissary with AP rifle and the soon to be discontinued Ragik double pack.

Before I get started on my cousin's Panoceania, I wanted to get some fun stuff out of the way first.

When Reaper showed off their recent Post Apocalyptic Hunter figure for Chronoscope, I knew I had to have one. I got him on Saturday, painted him up real fast last night.

I'm very happy with him. He was such a breeze to paint up. I wish they'd release a few more with a similar aesthetic. I know they've got at least one more that's a female carrying a duffle bag. I'll have to pick up her at some point.

Here he is with some of my other survivors.

He reminds me of a COBRA agent for some reason. Probably the sunglasses and the bandanna covering his face.

You should totally paint a cobra logo on him.

Hell, all those survivors are colorful enough to be some sort of COBRA cell.

Well, I could use some Cobras. Hasslefree makes a very nice Cobra Commander and I've seen Heresy's Sci-fi Troops make some quite nice Vipers.

Also, I have been considering buying an Ariadna SAS from Infinity to make into Beach Head. I really wish I could find a figure I could make into Chuckles.

You just want Chuckles so he can throw missiles at Cobra HISS tanks.

Makes me think we need to do some sort of GI Joe the movie Flying Lead/ Chain Reaction rules.

"Next time Chuchles, use the rocket launcher."

Reaper does have a post apocalyptic guy that might work. I'll need a cocky, no-good Liuuutenant Falcon, too. And I need to find some way to make Big Lob. Because he's going for the gold, and the crowd is going to go bananas.
