Got my Miniature Market order yesterday, which had Alastor, Ophiel, and a little Metal Slug looking tank from Relic Knights.

I decided I would start work on the Anima figures. These are my first Anima Tactics figures and I have to say, their sculpt quality is very nice. I'd say they're up there in terms of quality with Infinity. It's a shame that, event despite the high quality of the figures, they still couldn't match the sculpts up with their artwork. Anyway, I was going to go ahead and get right to work on Ophiel. Until I noticed how huge his base is, at any rate. The thing is at least 50mm. That's massive for a guy that's slightly taller than a regular Infinity human. I wanted to model him with his shadow thing, but there's no way I'll be able to fit it and him on a 25mm base. I'm thinking I may have to track down a 30mm one and just not use all of the shadow things.

Alastor on the other hand also had a huge base (and a huge box), but he can fit onto a 25mm base without any issues. So, I went ahead and painted him.

For whatever reason, my camera just doesn't want to photograph his armor decently. It's actually much redder in person, like the Dark Eldar I did, but in every pic I took, the darker areas turned out black.

But, I did manage to match him up fairly well with the others.

I'm not entirely sold on his cape looking like that. I wanted it to look like flayed skin, like the other Dark Eldar are wearing. I think it came out okay, but just not especially enamored with it.

I think he looks suitably imposing, downright terrifying if you were just a lowly guardsman.

Been a while since I posted an update. Between doing work at my new place, going to Italy, and being jet lagged, I haven't gotten much painting done, nor taken many photos. I have been working though. Until I can take some decent pics though, you'll have to make do with this crappy, blurry phone picture.

Just a few items I've recently painted.

You did your Shattered Sword guys in red? Huh.

I've got the big ogre guy from Shattered Sword coming in the mail soon.

You're getting a fair amount of Relic Knight stuff. When do you want to succumb to actually trying the game out?

I've been working on getting my Noh stuff all painted and based.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Our dad said my stuff tended towards dark, muted colors too often and I wanted to try out a new paint I'd bought, so they became red.

I suspect it'll be a long time before I grab a proper Relic Knights starter though. They're generally more expensive than I care for. If I ever come across them on discount though, then I'll grab one.

Right now I want to focus on my Admech.

Relic Knights is supposed to be a really fun game. I need to pick up a second faction to try it out. I've got quite a few of the Shattered Sword minis, looking at picking up some Black Diamond at some point oh and the rules

If I were to play Relic Knights, I'd probably go Black Diamond as well. They're pretty cool looking.

I figured as much.

I find any cheap Black Diamond stuff, I'll pass it on your way.

You're not getting my Goritsi.

I have some not blurry pics today! I'll start with a pair of figures I picked up at the miniature swap a couple months back. I wasn't expecting to find to much, but among the odds and ends I wound up with, I'd found a pair of Haqqislam figures, so I gladly took them from whoever it was (probably someone from Dakka) and added them to my collection.

Now, here's a better pic of the Shattered Sword Paragon from yesterday's pic.

I still haven't gotten the other one from the box done yet. The reason for that is due to his pose. It's really weird, like he's supposed to be landing, but the way he's posed, you can't actually glue either foot to the stand and he doesn't have a flight stand, either. Once I rig something up for him, I'll get to work on him.

Also in yesterday's pic was this lovely, used Black Diamon minitank drone. Gaze upon its filthy tracks. Marvel at how my camera washes out all of its detail and blurrs its lines!

This next guy was also in that pic, but you could barely make out his details. I'm really pleased with how he looks.

I actually picked up a couple of Brother Vinni figures from Noble Knight. They're very nice quality. This particular one is based on the NCR Rangers from Fallout. Someday I'd like to get his trio of STALKERs.

Lastly, my current focus is painting up my Skitarii. I've only got these two guys finished, but I'm slowly working on them, one at a time.

Unfortunately, their paintjobs are a lot more difficult than my Dark Eldar's, so they're taking a little longer. I based their colors on the Stygies VIII forgeworld on account of the fact that it made them look even more like Urban War Junkers.

Just scrolling through, I thought that Skitarii commander was actually one of your junkers from a cursory glance.

Love your Skitarii scheme, top work. It does look a PITA to paint though.

Hope to see some of the vehicles from you too.

Well, you're in luck! I've had a crappy week at work and Monday was (so far) the worst. So, since I'm the type of person who buys stuff to relieve stress, I figured the best reward for my crappy day was to buy an Onager. I've been working on it slowly after work and I'm nearly done with it. Still some detail work, like the cabels, lenses, paint scratches, etc to do. I still need to do the crewman and the little foot pads. It's far enough along though that I don't feel too bad showing it off. Plus, Tamburlaine wanted some WIP photos of stuff I've been working on.

You can see a few bits of scatter terrain I've been working on, too.

The biggest issue I'm having with the Onager is that there's a big seam running along the center of the Neutron Blaster that I couldn't get rid of. Unfortunately, I think I'm pretty much stuck with it now.

Huh. I kind of like those walking tank things. Not everything about the Skitari grabs me, but those Onagers are pretty solid. Nice work too.

The Onager is a solid little kit. That's actually its biggest problem. It isn't very big, yet you're paying nearly the same price as a Valkyrie. It's kind of ridiculous.

Your guys were actually kind of what pushed my to purchase some Brother Vinni stuff. I have to say, I'm pleased with his quality.

Agreed on the Onager, I have bought two and painted one already. I think it is a great, but quite small, kit.

I really like your scheme on the Onager and the Neutron Laser is my favourite looking weapon.

Hey the onager looks cool, a nice qudrapedal tank, but GW pricing is based not on making a gamers' needs for army but their view as a "collectible" which explains a lot as to why they charge as insanely as they do.

Ah! Vinni never disappoints!

I've enjoyed the Admech that I've worked on so far. I'm almost tempted to pick up the upcoming Magos figure, even though I'm sure he'll cost somewhere around $20. The tracked gun-Servitors that are coming soon are also tempting. If possible, I'd even like to grab a box of Rangers.

Speaking of Rangers, I'm not too keen with how the Stygies scheme actually looks on them. The tank crewman was somewhat of a test of it. It makes him look too much like a Chaos cultist or something. I'm thinking, I may have to come up with a new scheme whenever I get some rangers.

Onager is interesting , so a pair of Heavy stubbers along with the potent Laser cannon

I'm not sure if the stubber on top is actually functional in-game or if it's purely cosmetic. The rules blurb included with it doesn't mention it.

Explain the tread tank thing in the background that nobody else seems to have noticed.

Might make a good cheap proxy for other players out there.

I'm really surprised nobody's noticed it yet. It's actually a 1/72 toy called a Heavy Roller from Bandai USA's long forgotten Xyber 9 toyline, based on the long forgotten show of the same name. The show was very short lived, running only 1 season. About all I remember of it was that it was post apocalyptic. Bandai made a surprisingly decent toyline for it though. It came in two scales: 1/72 (compatible with Galoob's Action Fleet) and 1/18. The 1/18 line had figures of the main characters and the main villain (all of which were kind of crap), a series of very nice jetbikes, a fairly cool looking airplane, a very cool looking half track tank/recovery vehicle thing, and a VERY cool looking and fully articulated giant robot that is considered to be a holy grail among 1/18 toy collectors. The 1/72 line was a bit more diverse, considering it actually had stuff from the bad guys. For the good guys, they had two airplanes, one of which was in the 1/18 line, the half track from the 1/18 line, and the giant robot from the 1/18 line. For the bad guys, they had three vehicles, a funky aircraft, a very cool tank with three cannons on its turret, and the Heavy Roller. For a while there, I was tracking down the 1/72 stuff and actually managed to get a hole of nearly the entire line. I'm only missing the hero robot. While most of the vehicles would probably work great at 15mm, the Heavy Roller makes a wonderful 28mm Mechanicus robot.

Features on the toy are that its head is an opening cockpit, both arms move, the right arm's claw can open and close, the cannon on the back can rotate up and down and fired a missile, the missile launcher on the back can rotate up and down, the weapons on the back can swing down for some reason, the waist rotates, and it can roll. When you roll it, the little blades on the front move up and down. It, along with the rest of the line pops up on Ebay from time to time. I got mine for about $15, which I'd say is pretty good for something of its size.

Oh, and here's a figure I whipped up last night while listening to Doctor Who audio dramas.

I'd been wanting to make some carapace armored IG Vets for some reason, so I've been slowly gathering parts. This officer will be the first of a five man team. I'd also wanted to get some practice painting tiger stripe camo for my Danamian LRRP team, so this guy also was the guinea pig for that. The pic's a bit dark so it's a little hard to see it. I think, for my first try at it, I did an okay job. I'll be trying again on another figure soon. The idea for the scull detail on his visor I actually got from someone else's figures I'd seen on some other site a while back. I'd originally painted the skull detail on, but I didn't really like how it looked, so I tried again and used a skull decal from the Chaos Marine set. Worked perfectly! Now I need to get some more arms so I can do the rest of the team.

Gonna come back and look at your skullface when I go to do my nomad zeros. I wanted to give her something similar, though potentially a bit more girly.

I saw that robot tank, though I figured you'd bring it up if you intended to Seems like he should fit right in.

Yep, same here, was waiting for you to mention and describe the robotank and how it will fit, especially doing a AdMech army

That officer witht he carapace/camo and bolt-pistol/power-fist is very nice, the face plate with skull, wouldn't have been inspired by the stories of the shadows in the forest aka library would it?
