I really like that scheme for them, something about the olive drab just goes well with the grimdarkness of the models.

I would probably a fair few space marines done if I just paintd up whichever as it looks like you're doing. Or well it looks like you have a unit of terminators and almost of scouts... but y 'know w/e. Same thing, If I just painted one or two at a time.

Very effective scheme though, and obviously not salamanders.

Way back in the day, when we used to play 40k, my Dad painted some Space Marines and Rafm not-space marines as Salamanders in a scheme very similar to this one. I'm pretty sure their pre-Heresy scheme is more like this one, actually.

Went by the FLGS after seeing Chappie and low and behold, grabbed myself a Furioso Dread. Gonna carve off the BA insignias and probably paint it in a simple camo scheme.

Hah! Sweet, I love furioso dreads, just take dreadnought and kick it up to 11 lol.

That's an interesting paint scheme for your marines...almost like they are, well, Marines.

That's the idea.

Got my Furioso mostly done now. Base coats are all down. Need to apply decals, then weather. And I need a base. Speaking of, I should have a couple supply drops coming soon. One from FRP, and another from Ebay. Once I get that Ebay one, I'll be able to base my Dread and finish my Scout team.

I know vehicles are not the big thing here but I finally went through making that 3rd Hammer APC, whew! Hoping paint will help it.

Speaking of paint, I also am seriously in awe of the way the decals look so battered as well on the dready

It's actually a very simple technique. Just tear a bit of sponge, and with the jagged edge, dip it in your basecoat paint, wipe off the excess as if you were going to drybrush with it, and just dab the basecoat lightly over the decal. I also use the technique for the overall weathering.

Speaking of, my Furioso is now done. Well, it needs a base, but aside from that, it's actually finished.

Chassis no. 54, attached to First Company. Includes a little bit of personal heraldry on the left arm featuring a striking lion.

And alongside chassis no. 18.

54's base is due supposedly by Monday. We'll see. I'll see if I can get some better pics this weekend with some better lighting so you can actually see the decals (and the fact that they're weathered).

Wow... I've always liked dreadnoughts but that color scheme is just so damn appropriate! It makes them even better

Take away the glowy energy blades, give them a nice drab color scheme and ding them up a bit.. perfect.

Kudos.

Well, probably wasn't a good thing, but I made a couple orders. Ordered some figures from Warlord, and placed another FRP one this morning. Snagged another cheap Sefadu dude, a Reaper werewolf "Rager", and the Haqqislam Ghulam hacker that I've been wanting for some time. Snagged him for a whopping $1.40. Warlord is sending me a surrendering German, a Propaganda Company German, and a lone Algoryn.

Sounds like interesting minis to add to the collection!

So, bit of spnge and dabbed dry brush style. Cool, simple yet effective!

...you had to go and make an order right before your birthday too, huh?

Dork.

I'm sure I'll be asked as always to track down whatever obscure figures you want.

Take it easy on me!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

What? I didn't order anything that was on my birthday list. Plus, I've been wanting that Ghulam and the Sefadu guys. And I've been wanting to expand my Germans and try out a Gates of Antares figure.

Surprise of surprises, my Ebay bits showed up, which means I've finished my Furioso Dread. I'll have pics of him up whenever I can take some in decent lighting.

In other news, I've painted some things.

Paradigm's recent work on his PanO Knights inspired me to get working on mine, so I painted two of them up. Dip to come.

I also kitbashed and painted up some Pig Iron infantry.

And I slapped some paint on some Proxie guys as well.

Those pig iron guys look like they would make good stand ins for a 28mm dropzone commander PHR force.

If your still thinking of of getting a Jeep conversion done here's a pic I managed to find of my sentinel conversion using a 1/35 willies jeep to see the size you'd be working with.

Shaso, those figures come from Proxie Models. They're not very detailed, but they're quite cheap. If you ever needed to fill a table with cheap fodder troopers, theirs work quite well for that.

Joerugby, that's pretty cool. I bet it would work with Space Marines if I used Scouts. Definitely an idea I'm going to hang onto for later.

Yep, the very same. i have one of their buildings around someplace. Probably in storage with everything else. I was a little disappointed to learn that they don't really match up with Deadzone buildings though.

Anyway, the Furioso is 100% done. I'm very pleased with him.

I just dipped the other one along with a bunch of other metal earth toned guys today, too. So, hopefully I'll have my other Dread finished in a couple days as well.

The fury looks great - exactly in line with how one of these things would look if they were actually real - and the wings work well on it as well.

I've got my Order Sergeants nearly done (though not the Specialist). Pics of them to come on the weekend once I finish them. I'd have them done already, but I'm splitting my time between painting them and working on an Armored Core kit I got over the holidays. I'll post pics of that when it's done, too.

Just got my Warlord order today. Should be fun to paint some Germans again. The casting on them looks pretty good. These will be my first Warlord metals, so I'm looking forward to working on them. I also got an Algoryn with the two Germans. He doesn't seem as huge as others have said they are. I can't decide what colors to give him though. I'll either go with a blackish stealthy look, or paint him to match my Combined Army.

I wound up canceling my order earlier in the week from FRP due to them not having some of the stuff I wanted in stock anymore. So, I used the refunded money to purchase Ophiel and Alastor both from Miniature Market. Lucky me, I got the last Ophiel, too. So, now I'll have two choices for my Archon. Though, I suppose I could use Alastor as a Dracon.

pics are kind of rushed. Hopefully I can get some better ones later this weekend.

Here's the Warlord figures I got. The sculpts are all very nicely done.

I noticed a few rather large mold lines on the Algoryn (after I'd gotten him painted, of course), so his casting could've been a bit better. however, the Germans were pretty much flawless and have very detailed sculpts. My biggest criticism of the Bolt Action figures though would be that their hands are kind of blobby.

The Algoryn, btw, is about as tall as my old style Sogarat

Speaking of Infinity, I've been working on these three off and on all week.

The specialist is sitting on my table right now and once he's done, I can finally dip all of my PanO and get them finished. The Specialist will have a slightly different scheme from the regular Order Sergeants though, that way I can easily identify him.

I know a guy back in Oregon used the Warlord Plastic Germans as his IG army

it would be easy enough to do since the plastics don't have their weapons molded into their hands. Just get some loose las rifles and you're good to go.

He used the actual rifles that came with the sprues as his "Germania Pattern' Las Rifles. The GW sp[ecial weapons were an issue size wise.

Well, that sounds like he was just fielding regular Germans then. C'mon, you gotta space-ify them up just a bit.

My update for you guys tonight, I have a few finished items and some better pics of those WIPs from yesterday.

Converted Bagh Mari

This was an HMG Bagh Mari originally, but I converted him into a standard Combi type. I have two more of those Scibor bases, so I'm hoping that eventually after I've moved, I can grab two more Bagh Mari to mount onto them.

A slightly better shot of the Order Sergeants.

A MUCH better shot of the Bolt Action Germans.

I did eventually get the Scout legs I needed to finish up my Space Marine Scout squad, so now I've got pics of the whole team finished up.

Lastly, I completed the Dreadnought for the March painting challenge.
