We refuse to take sides in this anymore. And we refuse to let you turn us against one another. We know who we are now, we can find our own way between order and chaos...

It's over because we've decided it's over. Now get the hell out of our galaxy! Both of you.

Really nice looking stuff here. The models all have a lot of character. My only suggestion is that I think the Imperial Fists on the Raptor bases could use a little more depth to their yellow. They look a tad flat.

First update in what seems like ages.
Finally decided to finish my contemptor dread and start painting him to lead a mayhem pack or just run as a very expensive chaos contemptor.
Decided after I had done the lead beltcher base coat and first ironbreaker dry brush to try photo it in each stage of painting.
My process for all my iron warriors iron colours is as follows, Base coat lead belcher, dry brush ironbreaker, wash with thinned nuln oil then do progressivly ligher dry brushes of ironbreaker, runefang and necron compound. The difference is pretty hard to notice in the photos but really takes the finished model to the next level.

Apologies for the cell phone pics, left my camera at work.

If you want to see more of my Iron Warriors leave a comment cause I can't really be bothered updating frequently if it just sinks to the back pages without any views.

Got all the main stuff done on the dread, just gotta do the base, battle damage and weathering and the unfortunate imperial fist.

Everything gold or yellow is base coated xv-88, then averland sunset and yriel yellow layers for the yellow.

Gold is done with vellejo brass, and cheverons done with black and masking tape.

Washed with thinned nuln oil

Gold picked out with golden griffon

I've also started making new raptor and terminator squads

My only question. How are you going to transport these without half your army breaking in transit? It seems painfully fragile.

I know what you mean, but I'm running out of interesting heads that don't have stupid tusks or horns.

Unfortunately the earth shaker carriage is on hold with most of the rest of my traitor guard now that they are come the apocalypse allies.
Hopefully the rumours of some forgeworld love for chaos mean I can use my massed artillery again.

As for transport, all imperial fist mutilation models are pinned with wire so they are surprisingly durable.
I play most of my games with my flatmate or friends in my garage so transport isn't normally a problem. When i do go down to the local club ( which is conveniently a few blocks away) I do it very carefully.

After a bit of break I'm returning to my Iron Warriors with a renewed passion.
I've recently finished 25 militia in their new olive drabish scheme, 5 iron warriors boarding marines (going to use them as plague marines.) and a new warpsmith with burning brand.
I've also gone overboard ordering from forgeworld, with 2 rapier laser destroyer batteries, 15 mkIII marines, IW contemptor to turn into a destroyer of cities dread, many iron warriors upgrade parts and even a warlord titan.

Started setting up a new light box,but have lost my camera so only phone photos for now.

As usual let me know what you think, more feedback motivates to put up morepictures and WIPS.

Oh yeah I sure did, wish it was a warlord though.

As for parts, here goes, the torso, head, legs and arms are from the mkIII iron hands squad, mkIII shoulder pads, axe from dark vengeance, flamer pack from the sternguard kit with chaosy exaust ports added on, flamer is from a techmarine with green stuff tubing, servo arm is from a techpriest and the melta is from the Iron Warriors upgrade pack.

I think thats most of the parts, if there was something I missed let me know.

I'm loving the Earthworks, great idea for IW of course. Where did you get the sandbags? I'm curious because I recently saw a bunch of Tamiya ones at Hobby Lobby.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

They are the tamiya 1/35 sandbag kit, too about 2 boxes to do this trench.

Cheers, I just finished modelling that and added chains holding it down to the decking. I was inspired by the daemonic guns in storm of iron.

I appreciate the feed back. I've got far more stuff on my work bench that could be considered sane so there should be a bit of action here in the near future.

Thanks for the feed back, i've got another contemptor on the way, going to kit it out as a ferrum infernus destroyer of cities.

On the workbench at the moment, finished the trim on my sicarian, progress on the rapiers and crew, ruining limited edition forgeworld models and a chaos lord with black mace for my breacher squad.

Wow! Just found your thread, and exalted it so I can follow along! Awesome army coming together, and I really appreciate the great pics and stage-by-stage painting of that Dreadnought. I have just begun painting some Iron Warriors with (for?) my son and I am really a fan of how you keep the basic metal clean, without too much hazard striping, but how you also incorporate that and other (gold) metallic colors.

Your bases are also awesome--I am a big fan of creating bricks to create some geometric lines on bases, and I like the effect of the mini wall you have on that Dreadnought. I haven't done that, but I will definitely try it, thanks to you.

So, fantastic stuff, and I look forward to seeing how the projects continue.
