Hi guys, I've been a Fantasy play for quiet sometime. And have always loved IF. My fav colour is Yellow and just love Lysander.
Looking for someone to give me some help on building a list for them around 2k points or w/e the norm is for a 40k game these days.
nothing to crazy but something that is pretty competitive cheers in advance.
regards,
James

Yeah.As a successor chapter, the Crimson Fists use the IF traits.
Lots of bolters are good,as all types are covered by Bolter Drill ( except Sternguard special ammo ).And when is Tank Hunter not cool ?

Crimson Fists can't take Lysander. They have Pedro Kantor, wich makes Sternguard scoring units.
Fun thing to take with IF and CF are Devestator Squads with Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers due to their Chapter Tactic.

Not sure if this will help, but I'm currently working on a similar amount of Imperial Fists myself. Here's my list of work cut out for me.
HQ
Terminator Captain
2 Tactical Squads w. Lascannon for HW
1 squad in rhino
1 5 man scout squad
1 5 man scout sniper squad
10 terminators w/ SB and PF
1 HF Terminator
1 AC Terminator
6 Terminators with Thunderhammer/Storm Shield
Devestator Squad w/ 4 HB
This is what I'm working with for now. I will be adding tanks as they are siege based but I feel like this is a more than adequte starting point for me, not sure if it will help you but I hope so.

They are both used differently, it depends what your gamestyle is like. Lysander usually gets put into a group of TH/ SS terminators and then into a Landraider for transport to get them into assault distance.
Kantor gets fielded for the extra Sternguard scoring units and they can be quite handy with their combi weapons and drop-pods. Plus he has Dorn's Arrow in his possesion, so he's quite shooty. He isn't as resilent as Lysander in his Termie Armor though. Plus I heard it's quite fun to field him in a Command-squad/Honor-Guard. (Not sure wich one it was.)
So basicly... Lysander is asaulty and Pedro Kantor is shooty

HB don't really threaten vehicles and IF should already have enough small arms firepower.
I would stick with a lot of tac marines + tl lc/ml dev cents + ml devs.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Here's what I think is a fluffy 2k IF army that still will pack a punch in a game:
HEADQUARTERS:
Lysander
TROOPS:
10 tacticals, vet sgt with combi-flamer, grav-gun, HB, rhino
10 tacticals, vet sgt with combi-flamer, grav-gun, HB, rhino
ELITES:
10 terminators, 2xCMLs, 3xCFs
FAST-ATTACK:
Stormtalon, skyhammer
HEAVY-SUPPORT:
3 centurions, 3xMLs, 3xTLLCs, omniscope
10 devastators, vet srgt, 4xMLs with Flakks
TFC
FORTIFICATIONS:
ADL, quad-gun
2000pts on the dot; Lysander can join the termies and advance (tank wounds), 20 bolter shots with reroll 1s + 4MLs. They'll be supported by your 2 tactical squads, you can combat squad those to drop off the HBs mid-field while the rest of the squad keeps moving in the rhinos. The heavy-support section will be your true rockstar though: the centurions manning the quad-gun combined with the devastators (combat-squadded) will take out any vehicles or flyers that dares come out of cover (tank-hunter is great!) and the TFC will deal with enemy troops. It lacks in mobility but overall I think it would do pretty good. For a more assault oriented unit, cut the termies in half and add a 5-man squad of hammernators for the same point cost, you could deep-strike them with Lysander for a good disruption unit.

Nice balanced list.
The othings I would change is 2ml with flak for 2lc combat squad into ml and lc 5 man squads and have grunts in the dev squads man the tank hunting quad gun.
I would also swap the gravity for plasm. Salvo really needs relentless.

Assault cents are that bad.
gravity amp ones have limited range.
devs are balanced for their points.
IF devs with tank hunter are golden.

Actually, I believe CF can take Lysander. The only constraint with the special characters is that they have to be part of a detachment that uses the same CT, "so a count's as" Lysande in the CF should be ok.
I've seen some back and forth on this on the forums, anyone know the consensus?

They can take Pedro or Lysander. They are both Chapter Tactics IF.
Fluff wise you would just have to rename them or say they are working together.
Devastators look like a good choice (as well as Cents) since you get tank hunters. 4 Las-Cannon toting IF devs pretty much wreck any tanks' day.

Boom! Leman Russ Commander
|
I kinda feel like lascannons would be better for devastator squads. They have tank hunters so why not just also give them that ap2 to help blow things up quicker.
I also feel like some marines with plasma and combi plasma would help the list pretty well, give them a lascannon and combat squad them, sending 5 guys with the plasma/combi plasma forward and then have the one lascannon sit back with the devastator squads.
