Hi all,
last night I pretty much finished my Confrontation Lion / Kings of War Basilean army. I used Confrontation: Age of the Ragnarok prepainted Lion miniatures for the vast majority of the units. The only non-Rackham models are the two units of Elohi (using Lion head-swaps) and the CMON Griffin Commander. Please note that I did not touch up the Confrontation prepaints at all. The only thing I have left to do is put a lion sigil decal/transfer (probably a Bretonnian one) on the Griffin Commander so he'll match the rest of the army, and finally, a matte-spray.

2000 point Basilean Lion Army

125 Men At Arms Regiment w/ command [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Guards]
125 Men At Arms Regiment w/ command [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Guards]
160 Paladin Foot Guard Regiment w/ command [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Paladins]
160 Paladin Foot Guard Regiment w/ command [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Paladins]
275 Paladin Knight Regiment w/ command & Brew of Sharpness [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Knights]
170 Elohi Troop [Mantic Kings of War Basilean Elohi w/ Lion Guard Heads]
170 Elohi Troop [Mantic Kings of War Basilean Elohi w/ Lion Guard Heads]

100 Crossbowmen Troop w/ Blasting Arrow [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Archers and Caelia d'Icquor]
80 Crossbowmen Troop [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Archers]
80 Crossbowmen Troop [Rackham Confrontation AoR Lion Archers]

190 Ur-Elohi [Rackham Confrontation AoR Chimera living legend]
215 High Paladin on Griffin w/ Blade of Slashing [CMON Miniatures Commander on Griffin]
80 War-Wizard w/ Talisman of Inspiration [Rackham Confrontation AoR Meliador, warrior mage]
70 Bearer of the Holy Icon on Horse w/ Healing Charm [Rackham Confrontation Aor Red Lioness of Manilia, Laureena Tillius]

The units are based on Warbases MDF premium laser cut unit bases. I have used Vallejo stone texture for the ground texture drybrushed green, Scibor Royal Lion and Lion basing ruins for the ruined bits, Milliput for the ruined tilework, Games Workshop Citadel Glade Grass for the base layer of grass, Army Painter Wilderness Tuft and Meadow Flowers, and Silflor Ivy and leafy Crop rows.

I love it. Confrontation Lions are some of my favorite minis in the world. Even the pre-paints are gorgeous sculpts.

I couldn't agree more. And since I play KoW every week, and Confrontation once a year (maybe), I decided to get the most use out of them possible and rebase them for KoW.
I'm seriously considering doing it for my Ram and Wolfen, too.

Really beautiful looking army Judgedoug, surprised the Elohi match up so well with the older lion stuff, shows just how high quality those miniatures were for their time, also that's a pretty sweet griffon.

Its such a shame the normal basilean models don't look half as good as these, such a missed opportunity on Mantics part.

Those look amazing. I love the way the elohi turned out, although for some reason I expected you to use the paladin heads on them.

I ended up buying a bunch of Lion stuff from Mini Market thanks to you. I'll try the paladin head on the elohi and put up some pictures when they get here. Thanks again for introducing me to this fine range of minis.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

@Rolt - I believe the Confrontation Lion was sculpted by Remy, weren't they? If true, then the Elohi are the same sculptor I tried to color match the griffin to the lady chimera but I think I am a shade off. Ah well, hah.

@Bob - I tried the Paladin and the Knight heads - wound up using the Guard heads because they are actually larger than the other two; they looked a little weedy and I was trying to correct that problem in the first place
I only wish that more Ram models were still available, sadly, they are becoming very rare and expensive. They and the Lion are some of my favorite 28mm figs of all time.

I am tempted to make an Abyssals army using the Scorpion constructs.

Nice, the big Griffin is especially cool, one of the best minis I've seen for that creature.

Yeah, I agree, I'd always wanted it but it's expensive. Thankfully a webshop that carried it had a 20% off sale last month so I nabbed it. That and the Ur-elohi (Lion Chimera) really make the army pop.

I just got in my Lions, and I see what you mean about the paladins' heads being too small. I'll probably end up using some GW bits or something, though, because I just don't want my elite Hawkmen Angels to resort to wearing mook helms. At least not, these particular mook helms.

Really Pretty stuff there! I'm a big fan of using whatever miniatures you like the most with whatever rules you like the most. I also agree that the confrontation prepaints are quite good. I've got 6 of the wulfen starter set models rebased as KoW Werewolves.

And the Wolfen starter models were the worst of the prepaints
Have you gotten any of the other units? I heartily recommend the Bloodthirsty Predators. Great models and paint jobs.

I'm considering using Scorpion models to make an Abyssals army and the Wolfen models to make an Ogre army.

The reason I wound up using them (as I think they're rather plain) is because of the eye slit. The only modification I made to the lion Chimera (ur-Elohi) was to paint her eyes a bright white. So I used the Guard heads for the Elohi and painted bright solid white eyeballs in there (using a very steady hand and an AP Insane Detail brush). I wanted the bright spooky eyeballs peering out from the helm visor. You can't see it in the pics or in real life unless you hold them up close but I like it

I considered using Knight heads but they were also a little small and honestly, too tall (looked weird on the Elohi)

I kinda want to do an evil army and use the Ram Abyssals heads for the Elohi...

Unfortunately I didn't consider any others, though the whole confrontation range (metal and prepaint) is fantastic. I just got a batch of the core werewolves when they were on supersale (less than a buck each) at miniatures market a couple months ago. I used them to bulk out my Evil Kingdoms of Man Army which is bulit around a core of Battlemasters figures but also includes reaper, Ral Partha, and even a toy dragon repainted.

Eilif you should totally pick up some of the other cheaper Confrontation figs - http://www.miniaturemarket.com/table-top-miniatures/confrontation/wolfen-of-yilla.html

Bloodthirsty Predators are only 6 bucks for a box of 3 (I remember paying retail 34.95 for a box of 3) and Sylvan Animae are 6 bucks for a box of 6 (gonna use these as Sylvan Kin, I think, for the Elf army I'm slowly assembling)

I probably would if my Evil army wasn't almost finished and I didn't have a full Good-Human army of 200 unpainted metal soldiers (Mostly Essex and Old Glory) waiting for the brush!

Ugh, I hear you. I have about 60 Enforcers, 200 Orx Marauders, 300 Basileans, 40 ogres and 500 dwarves waiting for the brush. >.<

*numbers are NOT an exaggeration in the slightest.

Ok, maybe marauders are closer to 120. That was the only exaggeration. I forgot about the 150 Corporation figures though!!

thanks! go get your armies done, so when my lady and i take a vacation over to aus/nz we can have a game or two
yeah, I used two Unit boxes and one Attachment box (8 models) for a "regiment of 10". actually all the units are lowballed (16 men in the 20 men regiments, 8 archers for 10-man troops) but they still look pretty crammed in there!
Minimarket still has more Lion dudes, I think I might buy a bunch more, especially if they put some on sale for black friday.
