OP 5 I really felt the lack of jem hadar ships, as their fighters really need a larger dreadnaught class to support instead of the picket ships offered by cardassian/breen combos.

It will be nice, I know several folks in my area that want to do pure dominion without cardys or breen. In a way I am a little happy that wave 3 was delayed a little because I didn't really want to see that battleship monster used with Admirals orders. Double battleship + strike force =

Don't get me wrong I love the Gal Gathong, but I would still put it in the light weight category. The romulans are the one area I think the game designers real did poorly on, not terrible but poor.

Ideally I would have given the D'Deridex the stats of the Valdor class, but keep its current movement dial. Then made the valdor class similar to the kavorts stats. Combine that with the current smaller ships and they would be pretty balanced.

As they are now Romulans are the faction of extreams, big fatties and flying tissue paper.

I have to give you guys that do repaints some major props they turn out so good, but I just have no motivation to do it. For the most part I am happy with how they come. I have been painting GW stuff for 20 years so I am happy to not have to paint anything, just open the box and play. I may have to break this rull though when the Gal Gathong comes out. I like how it looks, but I would also like to have one that matches the rest of the fleet. But when it comes down between game time and painting, gaming usually wins out.

Yeah I really wish we had a real sub forum too. We have regurla postser and plenty to discuss with the Dominion War winding down and the Collective OP gearing up. Not to mention 2 mini OPs and boat load of new ships over the next year. I am not sure what morenthe MODsmwant to see from us. As things are conversations sometimes get lost or over looked. I guess we are not as important as x-wing, but keep posting and maybe one day we will get there.

and yeah we kinda need a sub forum, attack wing tournies are drawing just as much as 40k/WMH/fantasy around here.

How in the blue hell did you get the Registration number to look like the actual font, etc??? I wouldn't even have the patience for that.

@Baldrick, don't repaint the Gal'Gath'Ong unless you plan to keep it TOS colors, The White BOP Demands respect!!! Was thinking of buying a D-7 model, filing off the Klingon stuff, and painting the Romulan Star Eagle on the bottom so I can have Storm Eagles.


BTW: Picard on the Ch'Tang like you suggested, I almost one-shotted a D'Deridex Warbird with Barrage of Fire. If only they didn't cloak...lol.

@Malfunction, that registry number, is that the Odyssey's number or the U.S.S. Victory?

I didn't even think of that, lol. but I can't one shot it, it's got 7 shields and 8 hull, right? I only managed to get up to 11 shots with P'Tang and Donatra combined with Martok.

Yeah I would save it for the enemy. If you want to blow it up target locks and battle stations should be more than enough.

I didn't get to play against him at the OP event, he got there before me, got his ship and left, lol. No one else showed up to play, everyone just wanted their ship, :( (There are only three of us that show up at the OPs anymore.)

Most of the people around here that play like to play casually at home or etc. Heck, X-wing tournaments haven't been run here in a long time, I'm not even sure if we're going to be getting stuff for the Tholian Web OP coming up or the Collective OP.

We only have one person that leaves after the first round, but other wise everyone stays the whole OP. At the three I play at the first 2 usually have between 8-12 people and the 3rd is usually less. It is a shame that turnout is dropping off for you guys. I have heard of some TOs holding the participation prizes until the end of the tournament to avoid that. You might want to speak to your TO about it.People only shhot them selves in the foot grabbing and running. If enough people do it then the store might stop stocking all together.

We are even talking to our one venue about some non OP tournaments, with either gift cards or leftover OP gear for prizes. We plan on doing some with a twist like, pure fleets, or no captains over skill 6 kinda stuff.

That's actually the ship of class, the USS Galaxy.

Ah, So many Galaxy classes, lol, it's easy to mistake them.

Anyone know what the name/number of Future Geordi LaForge's ship is? It's a Galaxy class I know that much. It was on Voyager in the last season.

Ok Dakka Trekkies we are coming down to the wire on the Dominion War and OP6 is upon us. We also have a new wave of ships out.

1)Will the new ships influence your build?

Personally I mix up captains something, but for ships Negvars, vorchas, and valdors are my go to guys. I have used the Ch'Tang a few times and the Koraga once. For OP6 I don't think I will be taking any of the new ships, but around me there is a lot of interest in the Jem'Hadar battleship. That will make me consider what I take.

2)What is your strategy, blow up the station or take it?

This I have not decided. Getting it out of the way is a good thought but it is worth 20 extra points. The 1st time I played OP1 I blew it up all three games. The 2nd time I played it I went for the station, round 1 & 2 I had to destroy it late in the game to keep my opponents from using it to support their last ship. Round 3 I held it and used it to good effects. It could be worth it, but with battleships throwing 6+ dice (with buffs), will you be able to hold it long.


3)Will anyone be taking home a DS9?

For me I should have it locked up at one venue and I am the front runner at another. If I win it I really want to play an attack on the station game, either klingons or dominion vs DS9 & Defiant.

yes there is a DS9 grand prize model you can win, I have heard rumours of clubs not getting them despite ordering them however.

hey baldrick, how do you actually capture DS9? I missed the first OPs with it. once captured, how do you prevent it being retaken or retake it yourself if the other guy capped it?

There are rules in the OP kit, IIRC if your ship is within range 1-2 of the station and is not cloaked you can disable your shields to beam over captains or crew (away team). While on the station the away team members are disabled and there are are additional rules for fighting enemy away teams. But if you control DS9 you can use it. Each pylon gets an 5 die attack range 1-3 and the center gets a 360 degree 5 die shot range 1-2.

I haven't heard of any clubs not getting their stations. I called my local store they said theirs arrived today along with wave 3. I did hear that each store cold only order 3 of them, but may not be true.

The new ships do look interesting, especially the new Romulan. I'm going to be playing with my builds this weekend to see what I can come up with. Of course the Jem Hadar Battleship must be considered... 6 attack dice! Nothing to sneeze at.

I'm inclined to ignore the station and just attack my opponent, but if they head for the station then I'll just shoot their ships while the shields are down. Good reason to take that Battleship or throw a little Plasma Torpedo love their way...

Sadly, I got started with the Dominion Wars late and will not be taking a DS9 home, unless I buy one on Ebay.

barring me not going, I should be getting a DS9.

So, I kinda assembled all the bits and stuff from the Rav Laerst from last weekend's OP event, do you think it'll still yield a high amount if I put It on ebay or something and just claim that I did it to reduce on shipping?
