So, I searched the forum and didn't see any similar threads, but forgive me if this has been discussed before.
The Sentinels of Terra supplement for the Imperial Fists 3rd Company just dropped recently, and I was wondering, how well does this supplement work? Does it greatly change the way an Imperial Fists army will play (as compared to just using the CT in the vanilla 'dex)? Are the new characters/war gear worth it?
Any info from those who have already purchased this would help greatly, as I am contemplating whether I should buy also. Thanks guys.

I'd say no... The relics are very unremarkable comparatively, having full twinlinked on a bs4 model bs half twinlinked isnt super hot either, and centurions arent the stars of the new space marine codex....
How often has shooting at a bastion been game critical to either of you?

You don't at all. You're free to just use the Chapter Tactics included with Codex: Space Marines to play as Imperial Fists. Supplements are entirely optional.

Just ignore him Troike - we had to do a whole primary school lesson to him about what supplements are and how they are/can be used.

I think marine supplements will generally be a let down (unless you bought it for the fluff). Codex SM allows you to already run a pretty robust army with all sorts of fluffy lists.
Supplements become interesting when there is wargear or FoC changes that significantly impact the way an army is played. The farsight enclaves was exciting because tau got a major item on their wishlists - crisis suits as troops. Imperial fists got bolter tweaks (golf clap).

For the purpose of adding something constructive to this thread, I believe that all the supplements that GW have made so far don't really add much in terms of helpful or potentially game breaking rules, but they most certainly make your army more thematic. Yes, supplements definitely are worth the money if you are the kind of player who takes great pride in the background and theme of their army. However, if you are seeking new competitive rules for your army, then supplements really don't meet that requirement well.

Weak item choice lists, already overly expensive dev centurions moved to elites, not that you will ever field 3 units and 3 heavy support. And actual game changes that someone could type out to you faster than you could find the website to download the codex from in the first place.
0/10 blatant money grab that really adds very little, even most of the pictures are recycled.

I like it, it allows me to use my Imp Fists as allies, I like grav centurion devs and their chosen ride is a Spartan Assault Tank, thanks to the supplement I can use it.
Other than that it was pretty much a let down.

The stock Marine Codex includes rules for 9 of the 10 Imperial Fist Companies. Even if you want to be super pedantic about it, the book is solely dedicated to the Third Company and therefore not mandatory, but even inappropriate to use by your unenforceable standards.

yeah you don't need the supplement to feild imperial fists.
that said, if you are an IF fan, you might wanna pick this up. don't look at this as a rule book, looking at these books as a rule book leads to dissappointment. look at them as a sourcebook. if you're just looking to power game, you can pass the book up. if you're a real fan of the fists and enjoy reading about their background, you'll enjoy the book.
that pretty much applies for all codex supplements

Just go home zilka? please? We could do without utterly pointless input about how you try to enforce nothing but a house rule at your LGS.
As I say, the IF supplement doesn't add a competitive edge to your game, but it will certainly have the more thematic IF collectors and players smiling more. And who doesn't like more background?

Actually most IF I know that use the codex use it to move the dev centurions to the elite slot and use something else in the Heavy, like devastators or thunderfire canons, It's surprisingly useful.
Be glad the items in it are actually worth their cost though, could be like black legion where everything is overcosted by 20 points, just like the troops they have to field with a pointless upgrade.

There are rules for running an Imperial Fists-themed army in the vanilla Space Marine Codex, with the Imperial Fists doctrine and Captain Lysander. A supplement is just supplementary.
If we were to play using your logic, we cannot play any of the Space Marine Chapters represented by the Doctrines and Characters or any Chapters descended from those chapters, as none of them except the Imperial Fists have a supplement, released way after the fact. Why would GW include rules for playing Imperial Fists in Vanilla Space Marines if you required a supplement?
You can't play a game with only a supplement. They are not Codices.
There is no Black Legion codex. There is a Black Legion supplement, which contains extra rules and fluff n' stuff. Abaddon the Despoiler, the commander of the Black Legion, is an HQ unit in the Chaos Space Marines codex. You did not, and do not, need the Black Legion supplement to field him.
Farsight does not have his own codex, but a codex for the Farsight Enclaves. Farsight is contained in the main Tau Codex. The Farsight Enclaves supplement is not a codex. If anything, I won't allow someone to play a Farsight Enclaves list if they don't have the standard Tau codex, as the supplement is not a proper codex with all the rules. However, if they simply wanted to call an army led by Farsight using the standard Tau codex as a force of the "Farsight Enclaves" I would have no problem with that, as they simply don't want to use the special rules provided. Farsight is included in the Tau codex, and you are allowed to use him without the supplement.

On the up side zilka finally used a full stop.
But please, we don't need your input. IF, Iyaden, Black Legion and Farsight players can choose whether or not to use the supplements provided by GW. Nothing and nobody (except for you) forces them to use these.
Funny thing is zilka is that you have nailed your own coffin shut. You are forcing people to buff their armies by using the supplements. By forcing them, you will now have to face Wraith armies, Centurion armies and entire divisions of Battlesuits.
Two words. Have Fun

That's because I have absolutely NO idea what's in that supplement . Probably something neat in terms of force organisation.
come to think of it, Supplements are quite nice in some cases as they can allow you to make lists built up of high powered units from the normal codex - Iyaden and Farsight being primary examples. Yes they don't add any game breaking rules, but they certainly spice up your lists a bit
