Muah haha.

Honestly, with Skyrim, Mods are pretty much official now, especially through Steam.

Second, who knows if there's actually Mods available on PSN?

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Moding Skyrim is no more difficult than installing a game with stuff like the Nexus Mod Manager. It's no more difficult than a few button clicks. Even without it, most mods are as simple as dropping some files into a folder or overwriting existing files with a modded version. Only a few mods are all that tricky (ENB mods for example can be a wee bit more complicated).

I would say getting dragonborn first as it adds some cool looking and unique armour to the game such as...
boots of water walking
nordic carved armour (looks good with nightingale hood)
stalhrim weapons and armour (the skyrim version of diamond armour)
bonemould armour
chitin armour
mirrak's armour (including his cthulu mask)
dwarven black bow of fate
(and some other items)

All three DLC are good, but the ones with the highest highs also have the lowest lows.

Hearthfire is cheap and doesn't affect the game much, but it has no downsides. It adds three customisable houses you can build yourself, three new housecarls and some useful stuff like salmon roe (a great asset if you want to level alchemy).

Dragonborn adds a new land and a ton of new content. It has one downside*, but only after you visit the new land. Plus, the boots of waterwalking are a godsend if you use Frostfall.

Dawnguard adds a few smaller new lands, another ton of new content, and the best realised follower in the game. It has two downsides: the aforementioned vampire attacks on towns, and a few of that follower's unique mechanics. You see, she acts a lot more like a real person than most followers. There are times during her questline when you cannot dismiss her as a follower or tell her to wait - if you try she will refuse, and the best concession she is willing to offer is that she will follow at a distance.

*
Spoiler:
Once you start the main quest there, the big bad starts kill-stealing your dragon souls. You get them back and then some after you finish that quest, but in the meantime you'll have a hard time levelling your Shouts.

Are any of those new armors better than Daedric? when I remade my character I started off with smithing so I have that at 100 now, and I'm working on enchanting too. I was using the best armor and weapons since like level 20 I'm around 45 now. I did all the major questlines except for the war one and the dragon stuff. I'm gonna finish the legion quests and then finish the main storyline and then I'll check out one of the expansions.

Thanks Necros and Godless-Mimicry. Can I ask, was the patch download an automatic thing or do I need to search for them? I'm playing the PS3 version.

I can't remember 100%..... but I think now I remember that for the fix I had to delete all of the installed game files, not the character save files but the game content, and then put the game back in and it will reinstall everything, and then do the auto-patch thing, and then it worked. Can't remember for sure thought because my brain doesn't work so good in my old age but I think that's what I had to do.

For 360 it was automatic, but I can't say if it would be the same on PS3, especially given the lesser amount of support given to Skyrim on the PS3.

Hmm OK thanks guys, think I will try the complete re-install. Otherwise, it means my ork character's deadly fear of more than ankle-deep water will have to continue!

So, this thread got me thinking about Skyrim again, so I did a fresh install, downloaded the 96 odd mods I consider essential, and began playing as a ranger. Decided to finally pick up Dawnguard as well. And then I decided that if I was going to fight monsters, I might have to be a monster myself.
