you dont get double allies, so you can only take 21 at 2000 points.

At that point, you have ~500 points for 2 HQs and 3 troops.

Doable 3 units of cultists and you can still run a 350 points HQ
Or get Typhus and get a bajillion zombies

Wouldn't 3 HQs and 5 Troops choices be needed for that?

To me the Chaos Space Marines needed to be characterised as a threat reaching back to the Imperium's past, a threat which had refused to lie down and become part of history. This is in part why the gods of Chaos are less pivotal in Codex Chaos; we felt that the motivations of Chaos Space Marines should remain their own, no matter how debased and vile. Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

so you are right. 5 units of cultists is 250, 3 65 point HQs. It's doable

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but you get an allied detachment for each primary detachment in your list., so if you're at 2k+ and using 2 primary detachments you get 2 allied detachments.

Pg140 BGB. 'As stated earlier, taking an extra primary detachment allows you to take an additional allied detachment (which must be from the same codex as your other allied detachment)'.

they were, they took a huge hit in 6th when they lost fearless.

they gained the ability to take MoN and Assault Cannons though.

Put them on the table. Roll dice.

Basic stuff like use Lascannons on vehicles and not Ork Boyz and, Frag Missles on Ork Boz and not vehicles.

oblitz are fearless. there are daemons as i believe which give them fearless i think

I'm not sarcastically saying they're broken. More articulately, I'm saying that at shooting they are very versatile and threatening to a significant degree to almost any target and have the 2+ resilience to stand against many targets (well except Eldar aka Codex:AP2)

They are good, but I dont know about broken.

4 Oblits costs 280 points
Has 8 wounds

4 autocannon havocs and 4 lascannon havocs cost 270
Has 10 wounds and can fire at hordes AND armor in the same round.

I never thought of taking 12 Obliterators in a single army, and now that is SOOOO happening ! If I march Abaddon up with them within 12" they can all get Preferred Enemy Space Marines too

That will help when the Grav Guns start dropping me like flies too.

But as to the original question, deepstriking 1 or 2 Oblits can be very useful, something the enemy will need to address for not that many points. But with a unit of 3 I like to have them start on the table so they can be firing from the get go. Since they move and fire, I start them out of LOS if possible. And they can outrange many enemy weapons that could hurt them with lascannons and plasma cannons. It's that midrange where they suffer a bit.

Close up they really shine however. So the Huron/Infiltrating route is an excellent way to use them, and anyone but Abaddon can be a 2nd HQ. Then the OP could use his Noise Marines as Troops, even though I think Slaanesh is way overpriced for what they do. I'd drop those Icons of Excess, not that worth it IMO. But Infiltrating Noise Marines, that could be worthwhile. In fact, get a Skyshield Pad, Infiltrate them up on that, now we're talkin'. That's only 2 1/2 Icons of Excess, and WAAAAY better.

Oh, and Obliterators are awesome on that too (I go Nurgle though).

Uh....oh man... I don't know how to say this without sounding snide but, I quite literally said "I'm not sarcastically saying they're broken". They're very good but, not broken. In fact I dare say that no unit is broken.

Even the infamous Heldrake I hard-counter it with Deep Striking Warp Spiders shooting razor-nets up it's tailpipe...and it ain't list tailoring cuz' I always take my sexy, old, bulky back-pack wearing, metal...okay so they're not sexy... but I always take them cuz', like Obliterators, they're good at many things

Always move forward. Do you prefer to die in the backfield or do you prefer prefer to go down guns blazing.

Its that simple. Most people will keep them back and never get a chance to use any of the good weapons.
