Was it really that difficult for people who needed them to replace knobs with something easier to grab?

How will we keep the velociraptors out when they come? Oh Canada!

At least it doesn't effect houses retroactively

"So, do please come along when we're promoting something new and need photos for the facebook page or to send to our regional manager, do please engage in our gaming when we're pushing something specific hard and need to get the little kiddies drifting past to want to come in an see what all the fuss is about. But otherwise, stay the feth out, you smelly, antisocial bastards, because we're scared you are going to say something that goes against our mantra of absolute devotion to the corporate motherland and we actually perceive any of you who've been gaming more than a year to be a hostile entity as you've been exposed to the internet and 'dangerous ideas'. Is that because everyone Vancouvers themselves up?

I'll show myself out.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

No, it does - it's just that they can't play WM/H up there anymore.

Hey, it's worthwhile enough for the city council to expend money and time on considering, it must be important.

Nope, it's 'cause the ocean prevents them from really freezing. Every year you get one-or-two days which dip low enough to get ice/snow, and the rest of Canada gets to enjoy a hearty laugh.

Arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, stuff like that. It's pretty common for public buildings built these days to levers, or even just be pushed open. Extending it to all homes is pretty out there though.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Lots of disabilities that restrict movement. Great for public buildings, few of which use door knobs or leavers of any kind and mostly just push open in my experience. Utterly idiotic for private homes. It is interfering with peoples personal choices in the most petty of ways. It is not like it is difficult or expensive to change door knobs if you wish. It is like insisting that all new homes have ramps and everyone paint bathrooms in partially sited friendly colors.

I liked this quote.

Still, the door knob has defenders. "I'm shocked to hear this," says Sam Mirshak, owner of the architectural antique shop, The Door Store, when told about the Vancouver ban. "I can see it for community buildings and institutions, but not homes.

"I have strong feelings about hardware. Door knobs are lovely. They're the jewelry of the door."

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.
