I noticed the forum incremented from 5.39 to 5.4, and with it whenever you hit "Mark all Messages as Read", there is now a confirmation popup. This seems unnecessary to me. It's a minor annoyance, but surely people can't accidentally hit it often enough to warrant a popup to confirm it?

Just some feedback, if such is desired ; )

From looking at the "official release notes" it seems like the popup was added due to people hitting the button by accident quite a bit on mobile phones.

Ahh k, couldn't see release notes. Damn mobile users ; p As I said, not a biggie, just seemed unnecessary. If it helps some people I can tolerate it ; )

It's in the "New Player Finder" thread in the news section:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/565859.page

Other changes to the site today include:

1. More facebook 'like' links if you are not signed in (sorry! It is a great way of building traffic and interest alas)
2. 'are you sure you want to mark all threads read' confirmation on click (to prevent mobile fat fingers)
3. 'delete selected' button for PM page at top as well as bottom when removing PMs
4. add 'block all emails' for any given user to completely disable email sending if you want to get a full block on mails
5. added rotation detection to gallery uploads to make phone based pictures work better and easier
6. fixed duplicate stores being non-clickable in store finder
7. disable word 'kitchen' in subject of forum posts
8. registration page tweaks
9. user profile editing page redesign
10. various minor fixes and tweaks

I suffer from Fat Fingers, so that's why I noticed it

Yeah I'm quite disturbed by it as well. There is something just... off about it.

I say we purge it with fire!

Why was the word 'kitchen' disabled in forum titles????

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Endless kitchen spam couple with the fact that nobody ever uses that word outside of spammers. Should cut down on spam a significant degree.

What happens if someone tries to use the word Kitchen?

Does it have to be thread titles, or like if I add Kitchen to the subject title of this post?

"Edit": Well now that I know what happens, I can no longer offer great kitchen deals to dakkanauts

The new anti-Kitchen spam function just interfered with a legitimate thread...I'm sad now...

They're evolving.

EDIT: Ah, thread deleted. Anywho, they're spelling it 'K1tchen' now; perhaps it wasn't the best idea to say exactly how they were blocked on the public side of the forum.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

Even if it wasn't stated publicly that the word Kitchen is now baned from titles, when you attempt to put kitchen in a thread title, it says due to high amount of spam, the word kitchen is now allowed in our post/thread titles.

I strongly doubt there is any human involvement in creating these posts anyway, so it's moot.
