The one update they did showing bag contents proved very helpful to me when I was trying to figure out what I had.
Have fun.

Mold lines were a hassle, of course, that goes without saying. I think they just had too much going on for their size. If they had been metal, then the lines would have been sharper and easier to paint, I think.

I just painted my first infinity mini, and the lines *were* really sharp and easier to use. I like to do a lot of washes and drybrushing, letting the underlying sculpt and model do a lot of the work for me (cause I suck at the tricky stuff, there I said it). Metal models are a bit better at letting that happen, just on the couple of DZ minis I've already done there have been details that were a little harder to just "let happen". I'm sure I'll get used to working with the nuances before it's over.
@CptJake, yeah.. I'll probably be bookmarking that one. Interestingly enough the package this time says 39.7 lbs... it said 32.8 before. Maybe they made good with extra loots? Maybe the first tag was just wrong too

Hard at work painting my minis, I read on the fourms somewhere to put watered down white paint on the counters.
I think they turned out well, a lot easier to see.

Ok these aren't bad but I guess I'm just disappointed with the counters themselves, to me they seem like a good idea but poorly executed but I do have an idea on how to get the best of both worlds.
1. Make an indent.larger than the counter itself in some clay.
2. Set the cardboard counter in the indent.
3. Use clear plastic resin and fill the hole
4. Once dry it should leave a cardboard counter in a clear plastic coin sized shell.
What do you guys think?

Nice idea, but I think it's be a lot of work for all the counters you get. Maybe it'd be worth it just for the essentials, so a dozen or so overwatch/injured/activated/surpressed, and the objectives.

What's wrong with the card counters? They seem recent enough to me.
Given how easily dry erase paint .markers come off of clear acrylic I'm considering looking into that too for stuff like injury etc.

The base counters are fine, to be honest, this just seems a way to make them a bit more durable and tactile (it can be fiddly moving the smaller ones around once you've got 2-3 on a model).

Oh, yeah now that I look a little closer... I see what Jaydee meant. I actually had similar idea of hot-gluing the counters either into the mantic base hole or putting hot glue in the hole and gluing the counters on top (for the full/larger sized tokens). I misread and thought he was trying to hand cast his own But nah, he was just looking to enhance them.

Not the best pictures ever, but I'm almost done with my Plague (1A still a WIP). Went with the Green look. Vallejo WWII uniform colors primarily, along with Army Painter Army Green. Also, I've come to terms with Restic and don't remove mould lines anymore unless they are in an extremely easy area to remove. Found I spent so much time removing them, it was causing me to dread painting.

Thanks. I was a little afraid of the Incredible Hulk effect with the color choice, but very happy with how they ended up. I think I may start using Vallejo paint more frequently with Restic. It seems to apply much easier than Reaper or Army Painter.

Reaper paint is described as a layering paint I think, designed to be thinner and require/allow more layers. I was painting a drop pod with their envy green and I had to go overt at least halfa dozen times.
I think they look nice' do you have any intentions for the bases? Could put them over the top with a solid base scheme. Automatically Appended Next Post: Speaking of drop pods... my enforcers may have to confiscate my marines' drop pods. Nice los blocking terrain for players to deploy before game starts.

Drop pods! Space Marine pods are alright, but has anyone got any alternates from other manufacturers?

I found the Reaper paint needed to be thinned to the point of being difficult to control, otherwise it was clumping on me. Not sure if it makes sense, but Reaper seemed to act like a wash at a much thicker consistency than it should have, drawing across the surface. The Vallejo even when thinned still controlled well. I think it is a measure of the material being painted as I haven't had issues with Reaper on a primed surface. Of course, if I had primed the minis, I wouldn't have had the issue.
Haven't decided on the base scheme yet, but thinking something simple like greyish rubble and the odd bit of concrete/rebar.

I've tried Reaper paints, and haven't been a fan. I still have yet to find paints I prefer over GW and Folkarts you can get in Walmart.

1A is complete. I still refuse to clean the mould lines around the hands and feet. The color separation come across much better in person.

So, I've finally gotten down to finishing my first team - or at least I have a playable bunch of models worth 70+ points with some options: 1 S1, 2 S2, 5 S3 (incl. 1 heavy gun) and 2 dogs. I'll finish the remaining S2 over the weekend and will hopefully get a bag of 3 more S3s, whose feet broke off at the ankle during delivery.
So off we go -
Again my S1, this time a slightly better picture and joined by his dogs:
The S2s. Their original heads were pretty muddy as far as details and expression are concerned, so I used a couple of WHFB Ghoul heads which fit pretty nicely. Sorry for the quality but I was utterly unable to get both of them in decent focus...
The S3s - again, I didn't care much about the heads, so more Ghouls. Helps to bring the models together across stages, too. In addition I pretty much dislike their proportions, so I sawed 2-3 mms of restic from their torsos. Looks better, I'd say.
The close combat dudes from another angle.
And the remaining two S3s. I repositioned the right one's arms.
There was a point at which I gave up on cleaning the flash off the models. Maybe "If Mantic can half-arse it, so can I!" is not the most mature of reactions, but I was kinda tired about the casting quality... Still, I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out and won't have to proxy the Plague with Tyranids anymore. That's a definite plus!
Next stop: Some Inifinity scatter terrain, a handful of Shasvastii and then it'll be the Rebs. Hopefully my mate will have his Marauders finished by then...

So, finally decided to give the plague a break and start working on my Reb faction, so here's the first of hopefully many, I based the colour scheme on Olivier Mira Armstrong from the FMA anime series.
The coat was missing a little something so I added a bit of extra detail by gluing a line of cotton around the edge.

Jaydee is a hard act to follow but here's my latest Enforcer engaging some hostiles. Gotta shake this cold so I can get the buildings painted (mask and sniffles good bedfellows are not).
Note (and mock) my weak Paintbrush-Fu at the cobbled together shots, but my phone doesn't like to get many things in focus at any given time. I changed the shoulder pads to all yellow, and the detail on the head too.

Cheers for the nice comments, she was incedibly fiddly to paint, lots of small details and objects that seemed to make no sense but I think she came out quite nicely, im working on the two Grogen next and I have a little concept for those two =D I really do hope the Rebs get some kind of bike or monocycle like the enforcers as well.
Grimdork, I like the action shot and the enforcers look good with the grey and yellow paintjob and I like the blended colour and light reflection/glare off the mech's canopy screen, you'll have to let me know how you did that.
I was thinking of painting the enforcers shoulder pads in different colours depending if they are infantry, specialist, commander or rare just so they are easier to spot during play.
