Subject: Show off your painted Deadzone (and Warpath) minis!
Hi Mike, I've been experimenting a bit with greenskins lately, if you want your plague skin tones to be a bit more subdued I would suggest painting the skin in a regular skin colour such as screaming skull, throw a green shade wash over it such as athonian camoshade then finally glaze the skin with waywatcher green which should give a really sickly tone, as i final touch you could add nurgling green as a highlight

Sick. I like how they seem to have a slightly variable skin tone, you know, like actual things that exist. So thumbs up for that. They look good.
I'm looking forward to finishing my current gift-diorama-thing so I can get back to free painting, will probably do at least a couple of marauders myself.

yeah, I've been experimenting with the green skin tones, seeing as all of the uniforms are the same I wanted to add variations to the skin instead to make them feel a bit more unique.

I like the the stage 1 angelofvengeance looks ethereal n creepy.
Awesome as always JaydeeOT will probably steal those ideas like I'm doing with the plague stage 3s
From my PnM thread
Plague sighted !!!
Time to do the Plague now I've painted my enforcers and Rebs (brokkers are pre ordered as of Saturday and I want my orcs to be 40k conversions to better fit in my crossover games)
I've held off doing plague because I didn't know what scheme to do and I struggle with organic paint jobs.
I'm going to stay close to the Mantic scheme but make them a darker pink and bone instead of pink and white.
Here's my take on the "Tyrant" stage 1,
I love this model, this and the enforcer sniper are easily the stand out minis from Deadzone so far IMHO.
And here is the stage 1 getting ready to make bob a "berserker" stage 2
Plague stage 2 "Berserker" So bob got turned here he is hanging out with his other berserker friends
Bobs the one in the come at me bro pose
Kept it similar to the "tyrant", I also didn't want to have the one berserker doing parkour so I changed the arm to make him look like hes leaping at someone.
Still can't decide if I want to cover them in blood
Cheers! Goblins are proud of their guns see, they have names and everything - I've actually decided that my Goblins are from a tribe which venerates their heavy weapons, and the gunner takes the name of that weapon as his own until his death, when his loader ascends the seat and does likewise. Human names because humans named the guns before losing them - Goblins won't salvage a gun without a name, because they are wrong things. I made the base with the Baker Street ∞ AD basius basing pad from Wargames Bakery, though the zoom shows me I need to touch up the grey a little
Oh, and another guy on those forums painted his Marauders like Redcoats, so in response I just had to paint my Commandos like Napoleon's Imperial Guard
I do a monthly painting encouragement/competition on another forum and you get a 1 point bonus if you write a +50 word short story to accompany one of your completed minis that month, this was mine, posted tonight:
A pool of blood sat below the barricade, slowly leaking into a drain in the middle of a city street, splashes of blood covering the concrete above it. A snarling sound emanated from behind it, as though whatever had been responsible had been waiting for another victim to come along. As Tom Kirby realised that the shape sitting in the blood was an Ultramarine head, the thought may have occurred to someone else that it was too late - but not Tom. "It's not as bad as it looks!" beamed Tom, as the Plague 2nd Gen leaped up over the Barricade, sinking its claws into Kirby as it roared "MANTIC!", not at all alluding to any real life occurences.
Poorly written but I was in a hurry to submit it before the deadline. Too much?

I figured that now that I've finished my first Zombie Enforcer squad I'd chime in here.
For more in-depth thoughts, go to my blog where I'll post more images of things that I feel I shouldn't post here (to keep from mucking things up).
"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think, and they still love me. And I’ve concluded, after careful consideration, that this person keeping score is me." -Adam Savage

I have yet to actually play Deadzone, and probably won't anytime soon, I have been painting my little heart out. I finished the Wave 1 mercenaries about a month ago:
Every one of them was a lot of fun to paint. Individual images hidden behind Spoiler tags:
Spoiler:
I really like this guy. Mantic's metal models are always crisp, and the alloy they use is soft enough that cutting and drilling is easy. The best part of this model? The fact that he is standing on little stilts.
This guy's eyes are really tiny, but otherwise he was easy to paint up. I wasn't sure if he had a mohawk or some kind of Lobot-esque device on his head. I went with the latter. I don't know where his little spy-cam thing is.
I was planning to copy the official paint schemes for all of these minis, but that got boring real quick. The smooth lines on this one seemed to demand a white job. I think it worked.
This is one of the two models that suffers from relatively soft detail due to restic. It won't be a problem at tabletop distances, but up close it's just a little mushy. Appropriate, I guess, for a space octopus-man.
This guy is neat. I don't have much more to say about him.
Blaine is badass. That is all.
The other metal model in this set. I remember a lot of people going ballistic when it was announced that this model would not be plastic, but I found it pretty easy to work with. A little drill-and-pin and the tentacles stay is place just fine. I haven't based any of my larger DZ models because I need to get scenic bases to match the ones I got from PDC. I ordered (and paid for) some resin bases that look almost the same from PDC, but they seem to have disappeared...
I tried to paint Dr. Simmonds in the official paint scheme, but got bored. I'm not sure how the Mantic painter made her face so derpy. I tried to avoid that.
Freya here was a pretty boring model. I slogged through simply because I didn't want to be beaten by any miniature.
Wrath is the other squishy-detail model in this set. I couldn't figure out where all those tassles were supposed to go. so I mostly left them off. The sword was unidentifiable, so I replaced it with an old lead katana (made by Dixon), one of about 100 that I have lying around.
I have been painting Marauders, but I wanted to get these up first.
I have Howlett mostly painted, but not ready to put him up in the thread yet. I have all my wave 2, just waiting on enforcers. And the striders are freaking amazing! Zombies are also of great quality. People should be very happy when their stuff comes in.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'm guessing Ultron will be one of the Asterian models?
I painted a few Plague to test colour schemes, along with a Marauder.
I've also tried out a paintscheme on a piece or 2 of scenery which can be seen in the backgrounds.
I'm not a paint perfectionist, I paint fast for tabletop quality. The joys of having an 8 year old mean that time is rather short for painting these days.
Most of the time I had this week was spent clipping and fitting the scenery together. That way I can play a decent game even if I have to use proxy figures for a short while (such as SM's for Enforcers).
I'll get some enforcers done soon if I can figure out which arms are which to glue together. lol Marauders are taking a while because the set I bought had more flash and mould lines than miniatures. I feel I'm nearly sculpting the models myself :-(
PS: Thanks to all those in the other thread who have helped answer all my rules questions and initial problems.

Liking the Marauder Pyro Looks badass.
While I'm not a massive fan of Mantic's studio scheme for the Plague faction, yours look pretty awesome
Tip for photos- its usually easier for the camera to pick up the detail on a model if you have a lighter background (or at least some brighter light sources nearby)
