Oh. Well if all it takes is 21 twin-linked lascannons from spamming 9 of one of the best flyers in the game... wait no that's still terrible.
|
I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

It's a good thing no one takes Valkyries then.
You know, bring it down + Mass Lascannon spam would do wonders against Revenant titans.

9 valks cost more then a raver and they come in from reservs. If I someone would take them he would have fewer points to spend on troops then the raver using one and unlike the raver player , his mini troops wouldn't be as fast and as killy.
Does cantor make sternguard troops or just scoring like last edition ?

Agile Revenant Titan
|
On the plus side, the Revenant can't effectively shoot at the Vendettas and there is no chance they can be shot on turn 1 which is what scares players: the Revenant alpha strike.
Wonder what a drop pod army could do massed melta and/or plasma backed by Stormraven/Stormtalons? And that's even a fluffy army.

That's nine Vendettas.
I played 1500 points of Eldar against Guard with a Superheavy. It fired once before exploding and I was using an all comers list from weeks ago with no changes.
The Sky is not falling. A Revenant is three times the points of a Wraithknight but only 50% harder to kill.
Meanwhile with normal armies, most of us can't even get much more than nine LC on the ground...
9 Valks @ 1500 pts is commonly agreed to be a cheesy mc cheese list, armies like CSM, C: SM, Orks etc are stuck with getting pwned.
You don't have to drop it in one turn though that's just the number of shots it takes which coincidentally is the same as nine vendettas.
Ap1 weapons still work great causing an extra d3 hull points half the times they penetrate.
A Revenant is initiative 2 so anybody with ap2 high strength combat weapons that strike at initiative will do fine in combat. Sergeants with fists or nobs with klaws will do fine as they strike at the same time as the stomp happens. As will melta bombing veterans.
Finally if your opponent does have a super heavy then you should definitely roll on the new warlord trait table because they are incredibly useful.

Remember that the Revenant also has its Titan Holo-fields, meaning any time its hit (before wounds or armor pen) it rolls again and is only hit on a 4+ if it moved (or 3+ if stationary), and then still can get saves on top of that, so functionally, in terms of average number of shots needed to kill it, it's probably closer to twice as hard to kill.
It's also way more than three times as killy however with those two 2-shot Strength D 5" blast weapons, plus it's got almost twice the range and still has an additional four shot AP3 missile launcher. The revenant will shut games down very quickly.
IG superheavies are an entirely different order of easy, if you can deal with 3 Leman Russ tanks, you can more than deal with a Baneblade.

I did the math, and its like 60+ IG Lascannon shots to kill an Ork Stompa in cover on average. Is that right?

Isn't there a minimum distance though? Or is that just void shields?

Just void shields. The Eldar Titan Holofields even apply in CC. So you have to hit it, then you have to hit it again basically no matter what.

Sisters can take three scouting/outflanking dominion squads each with 4 melta guns, inside a transport with a multimelta for less than 500 points. Their act of faith ignores cover. The act probably won't be relevant that often, but I don't know enough about the super heavies to say that for sure.

I would like to see a Sisters Baneblade variant. Just need to make sure you fleur de lis the heck out of it. I'd be all for a Sisters player bringing one. Should get a 6++ faith save as well. I'm all for house rules that expand a hobby. I'm loving the new supplement.
I can't wait to finish my Taudar and face some Super Heavies. That's when your army's story really takes off... If you're into the whole narrative part of it.

I tried to do that, but couldn't wrap my head around the maths (been so long since I've done any) and I think it's still dozens and dozens of shots.

As the Sisters don't get a superheavy as far as I know, I'd be 100% fine with them taking a Baneblade. Dunno about the faith save and so on. This is something that should be homeruled in for certain.
Same goes for any other army thats missed out.

I believe it can be locked. Old Apoc rules forebode it IIRC. But it stomps in CC so not sure how much you want to be stuck in CC with it.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left
|
If you're relying on meltaguns for your anti-tank and you come up against this, gg. AV14 on all sides and if you're using it properly you'll pay a measly 20 points for immunity to the melta rule. Now your meltaguns can only glance on a six and meanwhile it can throw S10 AP1 7" blasts with ignore cover at you. Oh, and yes, it is a lord of war. The newest Imperial Armour book already has everything appropriately labelled - you can see from the scans. This beast might only have 6 hull points but that makes it less than half the cost of the Stompa and you're going to have an uphiill struggle stripping them from it!
|
Currently not in posession of any armies - I merely theorycraft and discuss background,
Waiting for HH Book 6 so I can start an Imperial Army army. |

Meltaguns aren't the only solutions being proposed here but even so it's not the hardest thing to kill. A Vanquisher or two will take care of it as will mass Lascannons. It suffers from the same problems as Land Raiders do but manages to shut down one of the many counters.

If I had to deal with a SH Tank (like a baneblade). A vanquisher or 2, alongside some AT weapons. Mass firepower will work in general
Flank with Melta vets.
That or just beat it to death with Arty or a Medusa cannon with Bastion breacher rounds. little blast on BIG tank only the biggest of scattering should be a problem.
Large monsters, lots o bullets.
etc.
im not super worried. Could always bring along a Shadowsword to counter.

using DKOK as a siege list 9 x earthshaker siege carriages for 675pts is really gonna feth things up.
I suppose i could allie in another 9 and have 2 x vanquisher LRBT command tanks and become TFG?
Terrain is going to be so useful in the first few turns might i add.
I thought apoc was a game about the guys with the biggest wallets would win - this may turn into a mini version if people dont exercise some limitations. I suspect when this is burnt out then mini skirmish games will be the next thing - fancy a 500pt game of zone mortalis anyone?

I imagine that many will. But I think it is entirely and legitimately a reasonable complaint to say that GW should be balancing these things and making them playable. Then we could have a Revenant Titan being fielded which was a fun and interesting component of an army rather than something that (a) people ban from being used and (b) creates bad blood because one party is telling another party what unit they may or may not use if you're to condescend to play them. I mean, these are official rules. It's no different for me to say to someone: you can't play if you use the Revenant, than it is for me to say: no, you may not use your unit X from your codex. Why? Because I know better than the people who create the rules what you should and shouldn't be allowed to play. I don't want to be put in that position and nor do a lot of other people.
GW define normal.
