Couldn't agree more with Feasible, the red looks great on that techmarine. Good job mate.

Thanks Feasible, I'm really pleased your enjoying the thread, if it's given you some ideas or inspiration then that's really brilliant. I am very much enjoying writing and posting it. I might not be able to update it as much during the busy Christmas period but I will do my best to keep the pictures and post as frequent as possible. Thanks again lots and lots more to come

Hi Dakka Dakka fans, People have left amazing comments saying they are looking forward to seeing the Stormraven. It is actually still quite a way off getting a paintjob as I have things I really need to finish first. I have not painted many vehicles and I need to practice on some more basic things first like my tanks before taking on such a big flyer as the SR, so here is my first finished vehicle, the rhino.

I must admit it was the vehicles that worried me most about this project, I was confident the troops would look nice, as lots of green races and models in warhammer and 40k like striking scorpions, lizardmen, tyranids can be very bright green and look great... but a tank!?!?! and it wouldn't be just one tank, I knew there would be many of them and dreadnoughts and flyers! I have been really worried they would just look....well.....to much. I thought about having them as a slightly darker green but I didn't want to fragment the army, plus I felt it would look really obvious as to why they were darker. People would simply say "are the vehicles darker because the green was to bright?"

So I stuck to my guns, these are my Sons of Medusa and these are their colours. It took some trial and error but I must say I am really pleased with the results, bearing in mind its vehicle number one. I am very happy with it, I hope you all like it to. I certainly loved painting it

The rhinos look great, but so clean! Have you thought about weathering it up a bit?

Hi Barksdale. Yep I do believe I will add a touch of weathering. just to break it up slightly, I am not going to go crazy with it, just a few paint chips here and there.

Wow, these are really nice. I love the bright, vibrant green.

I painted a squad of marines in a SoM scheme a while back. They were really fun to paint You can see them in my gallery if your interested

Hi Zambro, thanks so much, great to see another SoM fan, yours look so great! I love the weathered look you have given them. I will be trying some slight weathering on my vehicles. Thanks again.

Hi Dakka Dakka people, I just wanted to add some pics of the magnetized hull mounted Stormraven guns. I roughly explained in an earlier post how I done it. I hope this helps or gives you all some ideas. As always comments and questions very very welcome.

Yeah I totally understand, the holidays are always pressed for time. I had just landed in DC after an 7 hour flight and wanted to check out some more Sons of Medusa, but sadly there were no new updates for me.

Hi Brother Titus, thank you for your kind words I'm so pleased your enjoying the thread mate. As for the green effect mate it comes straight from an online painting tutorial. If you go on youtube look for "awesomepaintjob" the guy is an amazing painter his name is Lester Bursley. His videos are really great, very clear step by step instructions and all great quality. Most of his clips and effects are all done with an airbrush, I don't know if an airbrush is a tool you use but watching his tutorials inspired me to try it myself. He does tutorials for all kinds of marine chapters on there. I just really liked the Sons Of Medusa so I went out and got all the stuff from the tutorial he used and followed it step by step. I am still learning and Lester's airbrush skills are amazing but I was really surprised how fast you get to a good standard. I hope this is of some help to you, it would be great to know how you get on in the future. Thanks again, I'm really pleased you like this thread, lots more updates to come as the army grows. Of course please feel free to ask any questions.

I got a question

What's next? The Sons of Medusa (SoM?) are one of my favourite paint schemes. And you nail it each time

Thanks Zambro that's really nice of you to say. Yeah my SoM force has been a real labour of love, I have always loved the colour scheme to, and now I can use the Iron Hands chapter tactics on the battlefield it gives the chapter a load of personality. As for what's next, I'm currently about mid way through a Razorback. I will post WiP pics of it very soon. Then assault Terminators, I will also be sure to add WiP pics for them to.

I'm blown away by your White Scars thread mate. What and amazing and beautifully built and painted force that is !!!

It would be a pleause to battle along side the mighty sons of Khan.

Hi Wulfbridge, thanks mate that really means a lot and makes a lot of hard work feel really worth while

Although I don't currently have any sternguard painted, I do have a couple of other veterans painted. They are about the closes to sternguard that I have at the moment. I will add a pic in the next day or so, hopefully this will give an indication of how a sternguard squad might look.

thanks again mate.
