A while ago, I got a massive oracle dragon for an Iron Kingdoms RPG. IK dragons are all colossal godlike creatures, and need something crazy huge if you want to represent one on the table. The base was made out of an old clock from Walmart.

This one is Charsaug- one of two dragons that fight the giants of Bemoth. He bathes in lava and melts weapons that attack him (really, the D20 rules for him were pretty cool). We'll have to do some converting into the new RPG rules set.

He's just been finished, and here is the results. And if you care to vote, I've posted him to CMON.

It's hard to put into words how cool this miniature is. Definitely captures the godlike feel of IK dragons.

If you're looking to do more dragons, this really makes me think I have seen this exact thing in artwork form at some point, possibly Toruk?

Seeing that little dude with the sword takes me back to when i was about 10, sat playing Zelda, just about to fight the dragon in the fire temple such awesome memories

But looking really really good. You captured the molten look perfectly with where the darker red areas become solid black and keeping it minimal in the lighter yellow areas. I also love the base done really nicely, and overall an amazing model!

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

I think the rules conversion would be pretty simple: "If you're fighting this, 2d6 characters die a turn. You should probably run now."

Great job with the painting, the only nitpick is from an IK fluff perspective, where dragons don't have eyes and look like the bastard spawn of Jay Leno and a Rhinocerous. Would love to see a 30mm model or a Warjack next to him for scale.

That is fantastic!

Please excuse me if I am mistaken, but I have this faint idea that I ran across a post about using one of those ornamental dragons and rebasing/painting/modding it for gaming purposes - is this that dragon? If that is the case it would be really great to see a WIP if you took any pictures of the process.

Simply stunning! I've tried do a lava dragon before & so know how hard it is to do - mine was nowhere near as amazing as this!

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Lokning good for an Ik dragon :-) just glad we don't have rules for toruk since that model would never be able to be on the table due to his size

Nethyrmaul is a great mini. My wife claimed the one we got from Reaper's Bones Kickstarter, but a client of mine has asked me to paint one up, so I'll be doing that sometime in the next few months.

It looks absolutely fantastic. It's one of those things where I want to see it crawl off and hear its roar.

That was me, I did that a couple times. I'm rather fond of painting up minis that aren't meant to be minis.

This, however, is a mini. It is called Viszeralyn the Oracle Dragon and was sculpted by Sandra Garrity for Magnificent Egos. Valiant currently produces her, and I believe you can get them from the Cool Mini store.

Really fantastic work, odinsgrandson.

Do you know the dimensions of the dragon? I have been looking for a good dragon for the Exodite project you are working on and was leaning towards using a McFarlane Dragon, but this one has a lot of potential too!

This is seriously impressive and when I saw your Garden Ninja I first thought he was a size reference!

You said the base was a clock?! Can you elaborate any on that? haha.

Ahhh. Wow - that mini is not so mini. It is quite unusual to see kits at that size. Being this is a niche market already and the subject matter being even more niche than your usual garage kit, I just wouldn't expect anyone to make a profit on a kit like this. It's cool that they made it though - thank you for the info. Hehe - I also found the post (with the ornament dragon) I was thinking of and it was indeed your doing

This guy is a little bigger than Titan Sized- and a large titan at that. He's about two feet tall (from the base to the tip of his wings) and his wingspan is about two feet as well.

There's an old Armorcast Phantom Titan kit that came close to the size of this mini, but other than that I haven't seen anything this big across my table.

On a side note, there is another massive dragon that's about this size from Coolmini. He's a little less serpentine, and a little more Iguana. Also, I've found a lot of really big dragons from an Asian Gift store that don't cost quite so much (I posted one that I did up with a rattlesnake pattern a while ago.

By the way, my wife says that she'll kill me if she has to ship one of these, but she probably doesn't mean it.

Well, we had a couple $2 clocks from Wal-Mart. I always joked to my wife about how the edges made it look like a Warmachine/Dark Age/Malifaux base. And how they were meant for this purpose.

When we moved, the cheap clocks broke, and so realized their true potential. I've made four bases out of the two clocks, this one, two for Asian Gift store dragons and one for a Brass Scorpion from Forge World.

Yeah, there aren't so many of these around. I was a little surprised to see CMON make one of their own (they stock this one too). But the really huge kits are out there, if you go looking.

I half expect that Reaper is going to do an epic Bones dragon sometime, and it will be way cheaper than the others.

Well, perhaps I'll think twice about it then. Wouldn't want you to disappear in the middle of the night...

Though, I was thinking Phantom Titan when I realized the base you used was a wall clock. If the Exodite force gets big enough for a Titan we might have to test your wife's patience and packing skills.

Absolutely beautiful work. Love the crispness of the black and the luminosity of the bright areas. Really well done.
