Thanks for posting, with you posting this I was able to see the Chapterhouse site for the first time, and I really love the kit for the Storm Raven! Going to order a couple. Maybe some other bits too. Thank you!
The model you show on the thread would make a great WS Marine!
I can heartily recommend the Stomrraven kits. A bit fiddly to fit properly, but nothing worse than dealing with the usual sort of issues inherent with many resin kits, but well worth the effort...

No kidding! Those ROCK! Thanks for throwing the pic's up! Ordering those with the turret!!! Love the fact that the dread can appear to be carried instead of using imagination... Automatically Appended Next Post: Chapterhouse wrote:
Preview of the first new full figure of the new year for Chapterhouse Studios. Once the figure is finished painting he will be added to the web site. He comes with arm options of a pistol, 2 swords, a spear and a shield. The buckle is unadorned, but there are many horse images sculpted on his shield and armor. I'm hoping to have h up for preorders late next week.
Nick - Chapterhouse Studios
Is he a multi-peice kit like the torso seperate from the legs?

The Top-knot and shoulder pads kill it for me. There's something off about the shin-pads too. That said, the shield is great. I'll take 50 please. (Shields. Not the rest. Please make the shields available by bit!)

Had this been submitted by a user in the painting and modelling section, I'd be very impressed.
But this sculpt coming from a professional who wants to charge money for it, this is wholly lackluster. Amateurish is the only thing I think when I see this sculpt. There's potential, for sure, but this is just a piss poor effort.
With that said, the weapon hands look pretty good.

There are a number of mongolian shields that are being cast up in a set as well.
The right leg on this model is a component. The torso is attached to the left leg. The Braid is also a component as is the horse totem on the back. The base and arms are also components.

By component, you mean not necessary?
And if not attached, will they leave a big hole or gap where it's obvious something should have been?

Nick usually I love your stuff (have purchased Mucho Grande amounts and been very happy) but this is not on my favorites list. I agree with a lot of comments on the sculpting work seeming "thinck and heavy" and not up to your usual par of sculpts. I also agree that the top knot and horse on the backpack look odd and an afterthought. The paint is pretty low par too with all the washes and lack of blending on the cape but I guess we will see what it looks like when complete.

think he means components = separate parts, basically saying this model comes in parts, not one solid chunk of resin, so if you decide to not attach a leg then yes it will be obvious

Since this is titled "2014 releases" I guess it's on-topic to talk about another of yours I'm looking forward to... the space bug walls!
From the website:
Happy New Year! As you may notice, we have some products that are no longer listed, this is until the appeal process for the lawsuit that Games Workshop has brought against our small business is concluded. This year many changes are being made as well as many new products will be launched. Chief among those are Alien Race Specific Defense Lines, new alternative front torso components compatible with the Games Workshop Terminator Armor and even some Mongolian Space Knight shields, heads and a commander.
The Defense Line kickstarter was funded and we are now in the process of shipping and producing the kits for the folks who funded the kits. As they are shipped out and massed produced they will be added to the site for general sale. The first 2 will be the Space Undead and the Tech Confederation defense lines. Necron and Tau collectors will enjoy assembling and painting these two kits.
And a pic of the first casts of the one I'm interested in from the KS page, update from Christmas day!
You can see others at the KS page:

Of course, if GW removes the ability for nids to take fortifications, that'd be a bummer for the product... although it could still look great for displays. Rumors were that GW removed the spore pod, though, which affected Chapterhouse and some other 3rd party model makers... will find out for sure on the weekend when the book releases.

I've heard from my TO who heard from a guy (That's the basic formula for bs, I know) that GW is using it's Army Books and Codex's to strike back at guys like CH and anyone else who makes bit parts.
"Oh? You made a really good spore kit or Boneswords kit? We will just remove that option. Thanks for playing!"

Going by that information, it looks like Razorbacks will no longer have turrets, dreadnoughts no longer to have weapon arms, and Space marine infantry no longer to have shoulder pads, jump packs, backpacks, weapons, heads, torsos or legs....

- release codex with option not supported by models
- third party producers start selling stand-ins for those options
- wait 5 years, and then release new codex with those options removed, thus guaranteeing that those third party producers are the only ones who will ever have made any money from those options.
- profit!
Sounds legit.
On-topic - that 'nid wall does look pretty cool. I'm sur there would be uses for it as terrain even if they do lose the ability to take fortifications.

I was thinking that. I've got a few of the old FW spore towers, but some more Tyranid-y terrain would be great.

I personally play Tyranids, I have been playing them since 1994. I hear this codex is not all that great though. Are we really surprised if Games Workshop hurts the hobbyist and collectors by removing models that 3rd party companies have worked on?
Still, I think if a model is cool enough people will use it regardless of rules, our spore pod will look good on the table with along side the Space Bug Fortifications as a spore chimney or a living weapons emplacement.

Yeah I'll be getting the bug walls for sure. Once you put them up for sale . Can't believe I didn't kickstart them, I think just didn't have the funds lined up then.
Do you have an idea when they'll go up on the website / preorder / order?

Bug walls = good
Mongolian dude = not so good
Mongolian dudes paint job = makes model look bad! Possibly worse than unpainted.
Would like to see unpainted model, but it doesn't look good for the quality of this model.

I like the sculpt, I have held it in my hand and can appreciate it. The plus side with using resin is that if you dont like a specific portion of a model (like the smoothed edge shins) you can modify it easily.
Also, many of the details like the horse head, braid and banners are seperate bits, so use what you like. Kit bashing, remember!
I will see about getting more bug stuff done. Any ideas for terrain?

Counterparts for most "normal" terrain would be welcome - multi-leveled buildings, forests, tiered hills...bridges? Or there is always the "infested terrain" route - e.g., normal ruins with space bug nests inside, or spires growing out of them.

I like some of your stuff but this guy seems like a swing and a miss. The concept is good but the execution is a little loose and sloppy, frankly. The halberd is very nice and you should consider selling that and some variations as a weapons pack.
Any plans for an Ork-compatible defensive wall? That would be pretty popular and I believe they have a book coming soon. You already have Tyranids covered looks like.

The tricky thing with terrain is cost...
Lots of resin, heavy items to ship, I can see why most companies stay away from the larger pieces. Defense lines are really on the edge of that line of cost vs profit.
As for the Space Orc terrain.... I have it being cast now.

I'm sure holding the model up close adds a lot more perspective. Even the best pictures seem to obscure some details.

Couple of more items that we have painted up and will post for sale as soon as we have stock.
Some Heresy-Era Front Torso and Head bits, you can use these to replace the front and heads of the Games Workshop Terminator Model kits - we are planning on these being sold in sets of 2 with one of each set.
